Delicious and best of all, cheap! Good food in Puerto Rico can get pretty pricey, especially if you're tourists like our group and don't know where to go. Isamar is one of the few exceptions that we found to this rule. The pastrami sandwich in particular was quite tasty. They put some unconventional ingredients like ketchup in there. When the lady at the front recommended the sandwich, I was a skeptic, but after the first bite, found that the flavors meld in a very pleasant way. Pastries were flaky and fresh. The flan was rich and its slightly firmer texture was a nice touch. As a warning, do not get traditional breakfast food like the egg platters, unless if faux-egg consistency suits your style. My friend had that, and he said it was no better than Mc Donald's. Service was likewise excellent, and the lady behind the counter fielded my questions patiently (especially me badgering her about the ketchup that was to be squirted into my sandwich). My friends and I stopped in here every day on our trip to Puerto Rico- it was that good! Food here is cheap and extremely tasty. You must try their Cuban sandwich. I had never had one before, and this was amazing! This is also the best place to go in the area for breakfast. They have yummy pastries, fluffy pancakes, and savory omelets. Plus you can get a medium cup of coffee for less than a dollar. Get a box of pastries to go- they make a great snack at the beach for later. I recommend the guava and cheese danish. That was by far the yummiest. Another bonus of Isamar was the wonderful service. The bakery is family-owned and we always had friendly and attentive service on each visit. If I ever go to Puerto Rico again, I am heading straight back to Isamar! read more

I found the bakery on yelp. We were in ocean 16 on the sixth floor during some serious rainy times. I was excited to read an account of a great egg and cheese sandwich, my favorite. So I left my group of 10, 3 families with 4 kids and 6 adults (2 seniors), and set out to grab some breakfast before we drove to the other side of the island to escape the weather. Okay, wow. 4 bacon,egg,&cheese 4egg&cheese, 4 fresh baked donuts, on fresh baked bread, in like 12 minutes, not to mention, the cup of coffee I got ( which was nice and tasty), took care of us and the kids till we ate at the docks at 3:30pm in ponce, which took 4.5 hours to get to since we had to take hi roads because of flooding to get there. Made a pit stop at Isamar before going to El Yunque. It's right next to the entrance to a resort so keep an eye out! The place looks a little run down from the outside. I was a little disappointed that they did only had 2-3 types of pastry displayed at 10AM?! I tried the guava and cheese danish while the bf got the cuban sandwich. The cuban sandwich was pretty filling, not as heavy, and toasted of course. They claim they have the best bread ... probably not the best but it was good. I wish I could say the same thing about the danish. The guava tasted more like strawberries and the cheese felt dry, most importantly it wasn't flaky enough for me. I would've gave Isamar 2 stars if not for the cuban sandwich. Overall, a decently priced local bakery located on PR-3. read more

Excellent. Very friendly service. Great place to go if you're staying at the Wyndham resort up the road and don't want to pay a fortune for food. Must have a car to get here from the resort tho (rent one at the airport). Everything's baked there - delicious flan (both cheese and vanilla) and very tasty, and cheap, sammiches. read more

The owner was very friendly and nice. She prepared a wide selection of foods: sandwiches, pizzas, a wide variety of pastries. We stayed in Puerto Rico for about 4 days and went there every day for at least one meal. The cuban sandwich was the best I've ever had. The pizza was also great, but it's a lot of pizza. For something sweet, the fruit and cheese pastries were excellent. They open early in the morning for breakfast if you're heading out early and they make some really delicious breakfast sandwiches. we stayed at the Wyndham resort and hit this place up maybe 3 times...everytime was a yummy experience. the guava/cheese pastry was delicious, all of their guava jelly things looked/tasted soo gooood. the pastry itself was flakey on the outside and creamy on the inside. everything tastes very fresh and there is a pretty big selection considering the small size of the bakery. i also tried the guava donut - yummy. we got sandwiches made before our trip to the rainforest, we got the Chroibin (Chorizo sausage with egg and veggies - they wrap the ingredients in the egg like an omlette and put it between yummy fresh bread). it was delicious if a bit greasy. it was so CHEAP too, compared to other things around the area...everything was much more expensive than we thought, even at the Luqillo Kiosks. service is hit or miss, you either get lucky with the friendly girl who answered all our annoying "what is this? what is that?" questions to the best of her ability, or the impatient lady/man who just gives you one word answers. also, they are kind of slow. Great spot for breakfast. Workers were very nice, and it's clear this is a local, not tourist, place, but we felt very welcome.

We only ate breakfast here, so I cannot attest to the lunch sandwiches or the pastries. I can say that their egg sandwiches were pretty tasty and cheap (2 sandwiches and 2 drinks were less than $10) but they were extremely slow. It took about 25 minutes to get our sandwiches. So if you are looking for a quick place for breakfast before heading out to explore the island, you may want to look elsewhere. If, however, you want to leisurely enjoy a good, cheap breakfast it's a good place to stop. read more

Found this local place on Yelp. We're always on the hunt for some hidden gems and this is one such place. The owner was extremely nice and very welcoming. We ordered several different breakfast items which we ate in the restaurant and took several sandwiches with us to go for our day trip. Everything was very good. They were out of a few things on the menu which was the only downside. We will definitely be back and plan to tell others about this restaurant. read more

This is for the Palmer bakery. Believe this replaces the close Isamar bakery. They seem to serve the same delicious Danish and sandwiches. Wish I discovered this sooner. Prices are definitely very reasonable. It is on cii marginal and close corner of CIi estacion. read more

Nice people. Road construction apain but open. Inexpensive deli with sit down tables. Pretty good for breakfast. A lot of locals seem to eat there. I will go back read more
