I walked in here with no planned intention but ended up buying an entire DOOA glass and light setup. it's definitely not cheap (~$300 for the set I bought. just glass, metal arm, light, 2 rocks) but what made it worth it is the fact that Adam from this shop was SO kind and beyond helpful. he gave suggestions and advice on what I would need to get my setup working properly, down to the type of substrate for certain plants. when I was picking out a few rocks for my glass, Adam had such an aesthetic eye for which one would look nice in the environment. I'm typically so picky about achieving a certain look for tank builds, but the two rocks Adam pointed out I immediately loved and got (they even have a sand dojo area for you to play around with layout). He sees the vision and helps you execute. This type of expertise and willingness to help is absolutely what lead me to buy an entire setup on a whim! But truly, cares for your build like he would his own and he doesn't try to *sell* you anything, rather he wants the plant to thrive in the environment created, and he's happy to give advice and his time to bring you to success. I never felt pushed in any manner and have so much respect for how he conducts his work. Huge thank you to Adam! Would recommend this shop if you run into him especially.

The store is also very well stocked with things that cannot be found in many other fish shops. From from supply/fish contents/stock availability it's already a great store. To add on friendly/helpful service definitely make it five out of five.

We were shopping around for a new larger cage for our African Grey. Called before heading over to make sure they had something in the size range we were looking for. We were told they did so we headed on over. The store itself was clean and the layout made it easy to look around. I thought the prices seemed reasonable. I think it's important to support a local business and if we lived closer we'd probably shop here regularly. The guy working behind the desk asked if he could help us, we told him we were the ones who called about the cage. He asked another young man who had a super cute Sun Conure to check on the sizes they had in stock. While we waited we checked out stuff in the store. Lots of birds as well as all the toys and perch accessories you could want. We wanted a pretty large cage and they did have a size that would work for us. They were super helpful with the whole process and gave my husband some tips on setting it up. We left with a new cage and a few accessories for it. Got it set up pretty easily when we got home. Us and our Grey are very happy with everything. We definitely recommend this store and will be back when we are in the area again.

I was researching species and decided to put my name on several watch/wait lists in two states. BF and I visited DPP a couple of times and I put my name on their list for a Blue-headed Pionus. Much to my surprise they called me 4onths ago saying a breeder had a hatched clutch and did I still want one. Yes!! It took about 3 weeks for my new baby to get shipped to DPP. Rick took pictures and sent them to me and I visited the first time the next day. My hatchling was so ulgy-cute and I was shown how they hand feed the babies. I visited 6 or so times during the hand feeding and natural weaning process. It took around 2 months for my bird to wean and become self-sufficient with food and water. DPP really care about the birds they sell!! They will not sell a bird upon demand the first time someone comes to the store. They require several visits and a deposit prior to purchase. They do not clip wings or force-wean babies. The entire staff was incredible. Allison has a wealth of good information!! I didn't have one negative experience with any staff. My bird has been home just over a week and she's incredible. She got so much socialization opportunities at the store almost nothing fazes her or scared her. She is very gentle with everyone and even my 7 year old son can handle her without being bitten or fearful. We are all in love with her chill nature. Thank you DPP! I never knew I could have such an incredible experience buying a new family member. You guys are #1!!!
