So the wife wanted a Koi Pond. I thought to myself, oh god, something else I have to maintain. Well, thank god for the owner, Ben. What sold me on 'Project Koi Pond' was Ben's enthusiasm for all things Koi, and patience over the course of two months and MANY conversations, enthusiasm which I must say was quite infectious. Pretty soon I was the one trying to talk the wife into the deluxe 30K Gallon AlphaOne Pond Kit and was ready to name our fish. I estimated we'd start with about 25 or 30 and see where it went. My wife called Ben for an intervention, and he talked me back down from the ledge, and explained why with the size of our yard, and with terrain considerations, that what would most accent our landscape and our home would be the more modest 5K Gallon package. He also mentioned something or other about size of the pond being related to ease of manageability - apparently there's more to Koi as pets then just feeding them. I was more interested in getting down to the shop to pick out my little guys, which actually aren't so little - who knew? Fast forward to 3 weeks ago, Ben and his team were in and out with a flawless installation, took about a half day and looked exactly like the design he laid-out for us. Even after the sale, the dude's always available for questions, and will return your calls quickly if leaving a message. I mean, who does that? So, long story short, I love MY Koi pond and my 5 aquatic kids. - I'm really glad I thought of it, and I couldn't be more pleased that we got off to a great start at Play It Koi. read more

I purchased a replacement canister for my Pondmax 3600. When the part arrived (quickly I might add) I was disappointed to find out my lid assembly sponge plate no longer fits with the updated version of the canister. A $450 filter with a fresh $89 canister now worthless unless I buy more parts... At this point I realize I just received an email the other day saying "thank you for supporting our business if somethings wrong let me know". I thought I would ask them if there was something they could do. Obviously, this is an issue with pondmax not playitkoi but I thought maybe they might know a solution. They help identify the problem (which I hadn't discovered yet), then proceed to be my voice to pondmax. They got pondmax to ship me a new part to update my filter at no cost. Wow, that is customer service you don't see often anymore!! Thank you playitkoi and thank you pondmax. I will tell everyone I know about how much your companies impressed me and be a lifelong customer because of a playitkoi employee named "Kelly". read more

I purchased the Sea Side Aquatics PP65 e few months ago and I can only say positive things about both the item and the experience I had with PlayItKoi. Ben was most helpful in all phases: first in helping me find out what I needed in my setup, then in the prompt shipment, and last and most important of all in the set-up phase. The equipment itself is fantastic, it delivers what it claimed, and at such a competitive price, the only flaw is in the set up manual. The instructions are a bit lacking, so I had to use Ben (and Tom at Seaside) to help me figure out a couple of things. But after some minor difficulties, with their help I was able to install the machine and it has worked flawlessly ever since. Ben in particular has been so helpful via email and phone. To help me problem solve we exchanged several phone calls, some past office hours, and a couple even on a Sunday. I have been so impressed with their product and services that I would even give them 6 starts if it were possible :) read more

I searched far and wide to find pre-made filters that fit into our barrel bio-filter. We had originally purchased the plans and media from a small business. The filter lasted for years, and kept the pond magnificent. We only cleaned it out about once a year, for probably ten years. Sounds crazy, but true. Just the homemade barrel filter and a skimmer kept the pond clear. No chemicals, nothing. We have even had koi babies we didn't even know were in there until the next spring. After the media started to disintegrate, I could not locate the original source for more media. After searching extensively trying to find something similar, I came across these filters. It has only been two days, the pond is looking better already. It is only a half barrel, we could only fit two layers of filter- black on the bottom, then blue on top. If this is not sufficient, we will likely switch to a taller barrel, then add another layer. Maybe two. But, so far, just the two look promising. read more

I have had an issue for a number of years: there was no pond places in the north-end / Everett area for a long while after Moorehaven and a place in Kenmore closed. My options were traveling far north or buying online. Recently, using Google shopping, I blundered onto a pond supplier with great online prices. Little did I know that he was local too! They have great prices, and the owner help me research a skimmer that would work great for my particular pond (had never had one before). He has been very flexible with my ordering needs and it very knowledgeable too. The owner wasn't shy or haughty when I asked questions either (unlike some sites and businesses I have dealt with). This "hobby" is very specialized and there are lots of people with questions. It is great to find an enthusiast who not only is helpful, but is a "ponder" too! read more

I can not say enough great about Ben at Play It Koi! We purchased some sick fish from another place, they were affecting all our fish! We've never experienced this so in a panic I searched for any place that might have something to help treat the pond. My fish have name, yes they are like pets, so it was a very stressful time. We found Play It Koi! I was frantic, Ben was patient, he listened and asked the right questions to give us the right advice. The treatment I was searching for was not what we needed and Ben put us on the right track and had the product! I'm in a customer service business for over 30 years and good customer service sometimes feels like a lost art so it was extremely positive to get to the right place. I do a lot of shopping online, and I just wanted to let you know how impressed and happy we have been working with Playitkoi. (Top ten cutest business names ever, by the way) Great communication and customer service. Thanks for getting our order out lickety-split! Amazing packaging. It was 80 degrees on the way to 108 degrees when my package arrived on my front porch. Fortunately, I was home and able to bring the package in immediately, but I was still so, so impressed with the quality and condition of the plants. For some reason our local nurseries have not been able to get their supplies of pond plants in this summer, but the quality and selection of your plants beats what we have ever bought locally anyway. I have placed several orders with Play It Koi, having discovered them while beginning to design a water garden in my backyard, and I have been so delighted with my experience. The plants I have ordered, including frogbit, water forget me nots, duckweed and firecracker plant, have arrived the day after I ordered them, in excellent, healthy, plump condition. The plants are wrapped with care and kept moist and happy. Everything I've ordered is now thriving! I have also learned a lot of great stuff from their website, which is an excellent resource if you're just getting into water gardens like I am, and the owner Ben is very friendly, sending follow-up emails for all orders. The filter arrived earlier this week, but I didn't have time to install it until yesterday. It is running now, and it completely cleared up the water in my pond overnight (4500 gallons, plus or minus, in a little more than 12 hours). The old filter must have been more clogged than I thought. I'm very happy with the filter, and I see that there is an external transformer attached to the UV unit. Does this mean that there is no ballast/starter inside the UV Housing itself? That was one of the concerns I had with the original filter. After a few years, the seal in the housing failed and there was a water intrusion that corroded the electrical elements, and I had to clean and rebuild that part of the filter. read more

My Orange Punch cannas arrived today and are beautiful plants with multiple eyes observeable on rhizomes. And I received plants not just rhizomes. I am excited to see them blooming in the garden by the pond. Plants were initially sent via USPS. Still awaiting delivery. Ben with Play It Koi contacted me to ask how I liked my plants. I informed him I had not received and USPS tracking was not current since May 2. Play It Koi immediately resent my order at no additional charge and I received beautiful plants next day by FedEx. The ease of install. The filtration it provides. My father was in the pond business for 25 years before he passed. I have used lots of filters this pond max is worth it. If you are looking for a premium filter spend the money and get a pond max. Then buy your parts from PLAY It KOI they were fast and the product was in perfect condition. When the product arrived I noticed the label said Castle. If Play IT Koi is receiving from them then you cant go wrong. I am just under 2200 gallons with 40 fish it is to many but I saved them . I went to several websites to buy a Pondmax Ultra filter for my pond. None were very helpful, then I found Play It Koi. The website was easy to use and had a very helpful chart to help me buy the proper filter for a pond in direct sun with lots of fish. The filter was the same price as other places; however they gave me a first time buyers discount and FREE shipping which was awesome! PIK entire process from sale, delivery and final closing is first class for any e commerce. Their price is very competitive and not best overall. I highly recommend PIK as the premier vendor. I receive the package 3 days after online order, the FedEx & text delivery notification keeps you inform. It is very secure packaged because it is a fragile item in nature. The UV light is a must for outdoor water, I am using this 54 watts drop in the influence of a SS RDF. Flow is 4-6K gph for a 7K pond. The pond is under sun light 10-12 hrs a day, this unit keeps the water gin clear. read more

I love that they are in leaf (and in bloom!) when the hardy water lilies are dormant, and start to go dormant when the water lilies are starting to bloom. I live waaaaay over in PA and the team at Play It Koi made me feel like I was a neighbor asking them for their opinion and help with my new pond. For a wetlands re-naturalization project, my local conservation commission specified marsh marigolds be planted. I was unable to find them anywhere except Play It Koi. I ordered several other species of wetland shrubs from other vendors at the same time. The plants from Play It Koi arrived first and were in great shape. I recently ordered some fairy moss and water lettuce for my turtle pond. I recieved my order very quickly and in perfect condition, and the portions were generous.
