My boyfriend and I felt like Afghan food and found this place with decent reviews. It is a homey restaurant that is authentic and you hear the servers and patronsspeaking the language - love it! We ordered the potato bolani that was HUGE and definitely a great value at $15. At most other restaurants you get a fraction of the amount for $10 and this easily feeds 4 people as a filling appy. We also got the kebab platter that includes lamb shoulder, lamb shank, 1 chicken kebab, 1 ground beef kebab, and 1 beef steak kebab with pakawras (fried potatoes) and Kabul rice. The meat were all cooked nicely and my only wish was that the palawras were more crispy and crunchy. Service was friendly and for $75 we left full and leftovers for easily another 3 meals. There were 6 of us and we made reservations. The food is that good you need to make reservations for this restaurant. There is no liquor served which would have been nice but not necessary. You go for the food. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and looking at the menu and with her recommendation we chose the kebab throne. The price looks steep but when you consider 6 individual orders and the variety of meats this was the far better deal. I had the chicken corn soup and it was great. Well worth it. The extra Afghan spices used really made the soup unique. Of the 16 skewers of meat (4 kinds) we still packed up 6 skewers. The rice was a large plate , more than enough for the 6 of us. The potato bolani was great and more than enough. The pakawra was great. Firm in the middle. Over all we will go back to this place with guests. read more

This is a small Mom & Pop type restaurant owned by the Yousofi family who immigrated in 2009. The Yousofi family brought the rich flavors of Afghan food to Vancouver. I had Chicken Korma, which is slightly different from Indian Cuisine & it was wonderful. It was tomato based with a cilantro sauce & came with white rice, salata, & chatni. We stopped by for lunch. We were seated right away. A high chair was available for our child. Menus and water were dropped off shortly after we were seated. We ordered the kebab plate, happy platter, mango juice and rice pudding. It took a bit of time for everything to arrive but it was worth the wait. It was a satisfying meal trying a variety of appetizers and kebabs. It was my first time trying the different appetizers other than the Afghan bread. I really enjoyed the potato bolani which was a wheat crust with a soft potato filling. The other items on the appetizer platter were good and paired well with the kebabs. The naan was very thin and crispy. The meat kebabs were tender, juicy and seasoned well. The mango juice was thick and almost like a smoothie texture. The rice pudding was a nice mix of spices and had almond slivers. Service was good. Our server dropped off extra plates and napkins so we can share the food easily. We had leftovers to take home for another meal. Covid precautions were in place. Contact information was collected for tracing purposes. Staff wore face masks. Hand sanitizer was unfortunately located at the payment area instead of the front of the restaurant. read more

First time eating Afghan food and I am so happy we ate here. Their kofta chalaw was so delicious, I scraped the sauce off the plate. The kebab platter was so delectable as well. Meat was juicy, tender and well-seasoned. Friendly service; family run; spacious booths & seating. Definitely kudos to the chef(s)! Came to Pamir Diner for the first time with my family to celebrate Eid and we were not disappointed! The quality of food was amazing and my dad, who has very high standards, said this was the best kebab he's ever had. I enjoyed every bite. The meat was perfectly seasoned and so juicy. The restaurant was sparkling clean and very well maintained. They even offered us complimentary dessert because of Eid! The owner was incredibly attentive and welcoming. This restaurant lacks service. Food was incredibly unsatisfying. The whole roast chicken was dry, over cooked, and burned. My family and I waited quite a while to be served, and yet found out later chicken was precooked and was merely heated before serving. Naan was overpriced and cold. We entered the restaurant at 6:30 Saturday evening, the place was completey empty, when we remarked to the owner about this he said a bunch of 25 people had just left but their was no evidence that anyone had been in there. We sat down and I asked for the wine/beer menu - NO ALCOHOL. We ordered the bolani, that crepe had about one spoonful of stuffing, and was nothing remarkable. we ordered the lamb chops, I have eaten Afghan lamb before and knew how good it could be. What a dissapointment, the "chops" were extremely thin, very oversalted and burned all over, the Naan was cold and must have been bought straight from the supermarket. Went with some friend to try the . Restaurant looks nice price average . Saturday day dinner time the place was empty only us dining there. Any way please don't be fool with the other reviews the food was terrible. First is not Freshly cooked as he claimed. All the chickens and Kebab BBQ was served to us are previously cooked and frozen. They just warm it up . Man I got stomach discomfort. You can actually test the freezer smell in the food . Also food was served not even hot , like you can tell when you get the food out of the flame. Chicken inside was very cold, when we talk to the owner / chief he put his finger in the middle of the meat to feel the cold then he said I can show you the video on my phone that the chicken was on the grill, this very weird man he want to show us video ?
