We did some take-away the other day and decided to try Jamila's from one of the online food delivery service. We went for Greek selections and ordered a Calamari appetizer and Chicken Souvlaki Meal. The portions were very generous with 2 skewers of the souvlaki. The calamari seemed to be lacking in taste but at least there was plenty of tsatsiki and it wasn't rubbery. I liked their tsatsiki because it had plenty of lemon and garlic but a bit too much dill for my liking. (My brother didn't like his tsatsiki because of "too much" lemon but this is not his Yelp account so there's that!) The chicken was well marinated but it was overcooked and therefore dry. There was plenty of nicely seasoned rice and potaties. This resto is close by and they have other cuisines to offer (Indian and Afghan) so we may come by and try out the others. read more

Decided to grab a quick take out here for dinner and end up ordering they're butter chicken through foodora pickup. The staff were very friendly for a restaurant that caters to fast food pick up and they greeted me as soon as I step in. The butter chicken had good sauce but very limited cubes of chicken. There were only about 10 small cubes of chicken in the order. For the price and with the consideration that it is a fast food, I expected a bit more. But the flavour was very flavourful and buttery! They also serve a variety of different dishes from pizza to greek. read more

I came back here to order take out. Their Indian food was so good! The restaurant could maintain the good standards and quality of the food. They didn't disappoint me. I ordered their specials (I.e. Curry lamb) at $9.50. It came with rice and naan bread. I also ordered a couple veggie diamonds. Everything tasted excellent. The spice added great flavour to their lamb. Delicious! Telling people how good the food is here is not good enough. If you are in the neighbourhood, just come and order the food and try it yourself. Got the prawn souvlaki for lunch and the portion was pretty large, definitely worth the price portion wise. However what turned me off the meal was that the prawns were too salty, even when eating it with the rice and pita bread. My coworker got the chicken and said theirs was good so Hopefully the salt was just a one time thing. read more

I was hosting an informal dinner party and under my 2 week quarantine was very dependent on delivery. I really wanted something with a ton of flavor, and that's what Jamila's serves up. I did the meat lovers combo (souvlaki and other tasty meats on sticks) and added in a couple more salads and tzatziki. Everything was bomb. Our first meal from Jamila's, we ordered lamb biryani, palak paneer, and prawn vindaloo. I could tell even as I was unpacking it that this food was prepared with love. The biryani was so pretty, each individual grain of rice coloured a different hue of orange/yellow/white, truly beautiful! And that's just how it looked--it was the best biryani we've ever eaten. I found half an apricot in mine, a sweet surprise that actually brought me to tears, it was so lovely. I don't know if food has ever done that to me before! The vindaloo was aromatic and tangy, prawns cooked perfectly, and the palak paneer was dense with spinach, so flavourful. We agreed that it felt like somebody's mom or auntie or grandma was cooking this meal. A truly celebratory experience!! Highly recommended!! Extremely disappointing ordered through skip the dishes it said it would only take 45 minutes. When we ordered at 5.45pm it said it would be 45 minutes. At 6.45 I called back and was told it would not be delivered until after 8.05pm I contacted the restaurant and was told there was nothing they could do The guy put me on hold A bunch of times. So then I had to go through skip the dishes. And eventually I got a refund but here we are at 7.20pm still have not had dinner and my son normally goes to bed at 7:30pm do not order from this place. read more

Solid Indian food Tastes good, no heavy spices on Mild orders. You can taste all the ingredients. No bucket loads of oil. No heavy aftertaste Prices are reasonable. Lady serving yesterday was very friendly and polite. If you want to, it seems like you can watch your curry being made in their open kitchen! Take out was ready for pick up in 20 minutes. We ordered pizza for delivery. The pizzas were thick and full of toppings. I was surprised how much tandoori chicken was loaded onto my pizza. I will try this place for their Indian food for sure. The flavour and moistness of the tandoori chicken on my pizza tells me that the flavours of their Indian food would be delicious. The only downfall is the delivery time. They deliver through a third party which took an hour and a half to get to us. Next time we'll pick up or eat there instead. read more

We absolutely love Jamila's food and the owners a super warm! As an Indian, I rarely like to go eat Indian food at a restaurant or take out. But this place has absolutely amazed me and served me really delicious chicken curry and naan! Also, the green chutney is delicious. Spicy and exactly how I like my chutney! Just got delivery from this place, my fiance and I are both satisfied and full. He got the butter chicken meal, came with rice, nan and salad for $16.99. He enjoyed it, the only complaint he had was the chicken to sauce ratio. There were more sauce than there was chicken chunks. I ordered the Lamb Solvaki dinner platter. It came with two skewers of lamb, rice, pita and taziki. I thought the lamb was a bit on the chewy side. Greek salad was my favorite thing of the platter. This is your obvious GO-TO place when you can't decide if you want to eat Indian, Greek, or Afghani food. Seriously, they call it fusion, but its basically three entirely separate menus for you to indulge in. The delivery was quick and the food was warm, that's such an important quality right off the bat. We ordered two curries and two medium pizzas, it was just over $50 before tip. The price is hard to beat but it somewhat reflects the quality. By that I mean, it was tasty but its not going to blow your mind. The pizza (spicy and quality ingredients!) was better than the curries, my only warning is stay away from the Butter Prawn, the sauce is more akin to a pasta sauce. Side note, the person taking the orders over the phone is perhaps the most efficient person I have ever spoken to on the phone: polite and willing to answer a first time callers questions. Give that guy a raise! I would probably only order pizza's from this place again, specially when I need a bunch of them for a good price read more

My 4 star should actually be a 3.5 star - because I'm torn between 'this is awesome!' because of the prices and 'meh - it could be better.' Mind you, the prices are seriously AWESOME for indian food. My husband and I took advantage of their pickup specials and ordered 2 butter chicken (that came with rice + naan), 1 extra garlic naan, and 3 samosas, and our total was still only $28 (with tax already included). How is that not awesome? The portion of the butter chicken pickup special is smaller then expected (it's in a small rectangle tinfoil box) but if you know butter chicken, you know you don't need a lot to make you super full. It was more than enough for one person's meal. My husband and I literally devoured our food upon returning home and was so stuffed that I had a hard time keeping it all down. So while the up's of Pizza Island is the price, the downs is that there will be some minor misgivings that you will need to be accustomed to. For example, the naan will not be as great as some of the ones you get at a fancier Indian restaurants (for eg. Lazzez's Grill across the street) and I found some of the naan slightly dried up and burnt, but other than that, everything was fineee and great. I would definitely be returning for some cheap dinners - and I definitely recommend that you should give it a try too! Who can say no to cheap indian food?? read more

My mom one day was really craving veggie curry so we hit this place up for a dinner delivery. They told us half and hour wait time for delivery. One hour later the food arrived. Not the worst time but, not exactly great considering it was double what we were told. Me and my mom ordered a bunch of dishes to spilt. We ordered the Bhattura with chick pea curry. Curry was so so but, the Bhattura was delicious. Samosas we got were pretty good. Veggie Korma was probably my favourite! Great flavour. However, the Aloo Gobi was disappointing. Not sure why, but tasted kind of bland. I think ordering the Veggie Korma is definitely worth it , and the Bhattura is great. However, the rest of the service, and food was so meh and unmemorable I'm not sure if I would order it again unless I'm really in the mood for Veggie Korma. Food doesn't come cheap either by the time we ordered a few dishes, and spilt them it was nearly $40 with tax and tip. So probably just under $20 per person, and for what we got it seemed rather unreasonable. read more

If i could give this company a zero I would for sure. Although the pizza was alright, this company charged my bank account twice. Now I fully understand that mistakes happen as I have worked in customer service for over 10 years and things happen. However when I went back to this company with a screen shot of my account, the two receipts to show that the charge did not in fact bounce back they said they needed to speak with their bank. Again not an issue I could understand that maybe they think we are trying to rip them off but we left our info with them and they have avoided us like the plague. I don't even think they kept my information and now i am having to jump through hoops to get my money back due to their error (45 business days to get my own money back). I was ordering for delivery and put on hold for 8 minutes. When I finally got to order, the man couldn't get the simplest order correct and kept repeating me incorrectly. The order was completely wrong when he repeated it back to me. I ordered a large pizza, korma, and naan at 7:45 pm. The guy said it would take an hour. At 9:25, it still wasn't here. By this time, I was getting ready to sleep and didn't even want the food anymore. We called to complain and said we ordered way over an hour ago at 7:45. Instead of giving a discount for taking so long, like most places would've done, the man began arguing with me saying that we ordered at 8:45 and that it hasn't been an hour. I was holding my phone, looking at the time and it said 7:45. Instead of apologizing, he continued to argue with me and I got fed up and hung up. The pizza arrived at 9:35 pm. The pizza was cold when it arrived. Not warm... literally cold like it was sitting in the drivers car forever. I asked for extra veggies, there were no extra veggies, just the bare minimum. The korma was mediocre. Upon eating the pizza, I found a piece of ham. Now, this may seem like no big deal to all you meat eaters but for someone who has never eaten a dead animal in their life it's a huge deal. I had stated on the phone that I'm a vegetarian and everything I ordered was vegetarian. This is my third time ordering from here and my last. Every time I've ordered, it took them over an hour to deliver. This time was the worst. Terrible customer service makes for terrible business. read more

I really prefer this over other indian restaurants mainly because of consistent good quality food which is in my range as im a student with empty wallet :D I have been adventurous around their menu and i liked all of the dishes. This was an amazing place until it was sold to new owners a few months back. Now, I highly recommend you go somewhere else entirely. Some of Pizza Island's best food has been stricken from the menu, and they have now expanded to include Afghani and Greek fusion food- a classic symptom of a restaurant trying to expand beyond their means and cooking a huge variety of items poorly, instead of offering a limited menu and doing each menu item well. Does no one watch Kitchen Nightmares? This kind of bizarre expansion never ends up positively for anyone. Speaking of menu, if you want a new menu? One that includes the new food offerings? Good luck, they don't have any. Apparently they're on order - and have been for months. If I was waiting that long on a printer to produce a new menu, I'd have taken them to small-claims court. The new owners have apparently opted to just wait however many months it takes to get the printed menus, so have fun trying to place an order with an obsolete menu and enjoy getting shot down with every request: "I'd like to order a-" "We don't make that anymore." "What about some-" "No." "What abo-" "Nope, not that either." Tons of fun. Once we figured out what they DO offer in terms of menu, we discovered they have a serious problem with time management. We were told the order would take 20 minutes, I arrived 30 minutes after my call, and then had to sit and wait another 20 before my food was finally thrown together. Don't make plans for after dinner, you'll have to cancel them. The food itself is terrible, if not outright inedible. The quality and portions have taken a shockingly steep nosedive. I incredulously watched as the new (white!) cook spooned palak paneer shallowly into a takeout dish, eyed it for a minute, and then took two scoops back out and put it back in the pan. What the fuck, who does that? That's the height of stingy and/or unsanitary. When I inspected the paneer pakora, they were tiny, burned squares with chutney on one side only- and half the portion size that used to be available. Two of the were so overcooked, they were rendered totally inedible. As well as the pakora, I ordered butter chicken and shahi paneer. No more nuts and raisins in the shahi paneer, in fact, barely any paneer in the shahi paneer. It was essentially six miniscule cubes of paneer swimming in tomato sauce that I'm 100% sure was the exact sauce they made for the butter chicken. Very tomato-forward, greasy, and totally tasteless. So much for a cashew and cream base, the shahi paneer gravy smelled and looked like a can of Campbell's Tomato Soup. Oh, and pro tip- you can still give dishes deep and appetizing flavours despite them being 'mild'. The cook clearly does not grasp that concept. I'm so disappointed that yet another great Indian food place has been ruined by a change of hands. To the new owners - good luck using up the last of the goodwill the Pizza Island name has earned in the years leading up to the sale- I know what quality Indian food is, and this isn't it. I ordered a full souvlaki meal with sides through Uber eats. Delivery service from Uber was great!! However my order was NOT filled. One of the main things (tzaziki sauce) was missing!! So when I phoned them, they did have a driver send one...However it only took 2hrs total before I could eat a COLD meal...Talk about Bad customer service!! read more

I was babysitting my grandsons and they ordered pizza and while I ordered the roast lamb dinner. The pizzas were really good, generous portions of toppings and cheese. My roast lamb however left me on the wrong side of the fence. I was really hungry and was about to devour but upon inspection of the various pieces of roast lamb was an assortment of bone - more like joint or collar bones pieces strewn through the meat. The portion of meat I received was definitely from several leftover pieces, one part was okay at best, but the majority of meat I was chewing into was like hard crusted burnt jerky. It was definitely not an enjoyable meal. While we will order pizzas again, I will never ever touch their roast lamb and probably avoid all other meals they have to offer. I really should not have expected great Greek food, but then I wasn't expecting to eat lamb jerky either. Horrible. read more
