I realized that the staff here is likely too candid to know how to sweet talk customers and sugar coat any recommendations. They tried several times to dissuade my dad from fixing a 2001 Odyssey van because it wasn't worth the value of the car from two decades of depreciation with issues, ranging from air conditioning to a stolen catalytic converter when parked on the street in New York City. However, my dad insisted on repairing it because it was useful for transporting larger items, ranging from equipment to furniture. It's truly hard to find mechanics and a body shop you trust to bring your car and those of your loved ones. It helps that their crew (e.g., Ricky) can speak Chinese slowly and clearly to relate to my dad with his hearing impairments. Nobody's perfect in this imperfect world, so sometimes you need to take a leap of faith and find someone willing to work with you and relay all the info that you need to decide how to move forward or not with fixing your car. For me, it's better to hear the good, bad, and ugly truth than to not know the inside scoop for making a more informed decision, especially the tough ones.

I end up getting KYB shocks and struts with full spring assembly on my own. I had the shop install the front struts and rear shocks and they advise front linkage needed replacement as well. When car came back and was road tested, i realized no more shaking at speeds over 50mph, suspension felt very smooth, all tires felt in place and brakin was improved aling with sharp steering. Mike did a great job, the car felt like brand new. Job was done quickly and 4 hrs later they were calling me to pick up. As a customer, I didn't know the compressor status -- that's what I expected them to diagnose first. After taking payment and completing the recharge (which didn't solve the problem), they told me I had a refrigerant leak. But how was that diagnosed? With the compressor not engaging, there was no circulation, no dye test, no vacuum hold -- just a guess after the fact. They later explained that the recharge was done "to see if the compressor would engage" -- but I had already told them there was pressure in the system. Skipping basic electrical tests and charging for a recharge first is not professional diagnosis. What I received was uninformed consent: I agreed to a recharge without being told it was unlikely to help unless the compressor was working. As a customer, I relied on their expertise to guide the process -- but they failed to explain this critical limitation. I wasn't given a service report or receipt during the visit -- both were sent the next day, after I posted a review. Their mention of a refrigerant leak was never documented, and no leak detection tests were performed. It felt like an after-the-fact explanation when the recharge didn't solve the problem. Their process seems designed to create more work (and more charges) instead of solving the actual problem from the start.
