I ordered the bye bye birdie chicken sandwich and my husband got the meatloaf. Both promptly arrived and looked amazing. The portions were generous and after taking a few bites, we were not disappointed. The chicken sandwich was seasoned perfectly with a great honey mustard sauce. It came with hand cut fries which were also yummy. My husband had a nice chunk of meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Both were seasoned well and flavorful. The new decor certainly has spruce up the place and the staff was very attentive. We will definitely be back often!

We ordered the C&O Canal Chicken sandwich (which we split) and paid the $2 up charge for sweet potato fries. The chicken breast was not only dry but it was half the size of the bun it was served on. The food came out rather quickly to the point that my thought was that the food was pre-cooked and was sitting under a heat lamp. The fries were soggy to the point that my lady friend did not even finish her share of them. Which is EXTREMELY unusual as she LOVES sweet potato fries! We sat outside and the ambiance is nice. The only saving grace was our server Clarence provided friendly and efficient service and the Margarita was fairly tasty. As I stated: We must have hit them on an "OFF" day based on the reviews of others. We will NOT be returning.

What a cute little place... and LOVE the owners!…read more We were recently in the area for a drive to look at the fall foliage and discovered this little spot, which we heard was pretty popular with the locals. We definitely understand the appeal, as the food was good, the drinks were good, and the staff were great. We likely ordered too much fried food while there (and it all tasted great), but next time I might substitute some of the fried fare with a salad. But our eyes were drawn to the other tables around us where patrons were chomping on fried pickles (yum), French fries (tasty enough), and onion rings (outstanding). My only recommendations to the owners would be to stick a few more healthy items. Before I close out, I must send another shout out to the owners (a husband and wife team who were staffing the place the day we visited). They are awesome!! I loved the conversations with them and would return to Horseshoe just for drinks and a chuckle... and the onion rings! Final thoughts = check this place out if nearby, but be sure to balance the fried food with a salad.
