Bought 3 Taco's, Nachos and Ghost Quesadilla. It was good, but not WOW, IMO. While the ingredients were fresh, the beef lacked seasoning. Restaurant was clean, good vibes, I'd return. Downside, the photos of menu are old. Same items but inflation is the likeliest reason the prices were 30-40% higher. I posted the new prices...

We stopped at Maria's Taqueria in Shepherdstown for a burrito bowl and quesadilla! I opted for ground beef in my bowl because I was sharing it with my 13 month old (who def approved ), and it was so flavorful and good! Very cool vibes and friendly staff. We didn't try it, but the guac looked really good! If you are a fan of Chipotle like I am, this is a great local alternative!

This place is an absolute must stop when in town. It's a gorgeous restaurant, tons of seating, beautifully decorated with a super helpful and efficient staff. We put our orders in with the very helpful server in front and when I say the food comes out quickly - it does. We basically sat down and our nachos were out already. The NACHOS! A warning and a love letter to these nachos. Truly some of the best I've ever had. The queso was absolutely phenomenal and loaded onto every layer. A more than adequate amount of sour cream and pico is piled high on these bad boys. The pork was also very flavorful. Now time for the warning, we got these as an app and it could've easily been a meal with leftovers. No regrets obviously but you've been warned - it's a very generous portion of food. Since I also ordered an entree not knowing those delicious nachos were going to fill me up let's talk about that. I got the traditional tacos, two chicken and one pork. Delicious. Piled high with perfectly fall off the bone meat, onions, cilantro and queso fresco. One taco is enough for a meal. They're double tortillas are certainly needed for these hefty tacos. Absolutely wonderful flavors though. My other half got the carnivore burrito and he loved it as well. So much chicken in it that he had a hard time finishing it too. Put it this way, we are around lunchtime and were only hungry again at 9pm. I can't say enough about this place, I hope they stay a long time so I can visit again someday. I'm a huge Mexican food fan and this is definitely not a place to sleep on.

[Coronavirus review] The latest in my series of businesses that have adapted to the coronavirus restrictions, this place does ordering over the phone or in-person. The West Virginia scenery of faded industry surrounded by shale and wood doesn't overlap in my mind with the sight of tacos, but it's actually a very good location right now, as there are a lot of nice areas to visit in the surrounding countryside, and not a lot of restaurants. It's only fifteen minutes from Antienam. My order was ready before I got there. They offer most items vegetarian or vegan, though I was a bit disappointed to discover that their veggie tacos were literally veggies; mostly peppers, onions, and a heavy dose of cilantro. Don't get me wrong, they were pretty tasty, but without beans the only real protein source was some crumbles of queso fresco. To be fair, there were options to order beans, and even though I'm watching my spending, I kind of wished I'd added a side of them. Chips and guac were what I ordered instead; nothing that lit me on fire but I was full for my money. If I were back in the vicinity, I'd order a bit differently, but I'd order again.

Holy hog. The vegetarian Maria special I had was ridiculous. I would eat it every day. For comparison, imagine a delicious Chipotle burrito, but then covered in queso and pico! I also added guac. It was SO GOOD. It was way more than I could eat and I didn't have a fridge available so I did have food waste. :'(. Maybe order with a buddy??? We ordered takeout during COVID times, and it was a smooth process. The menu was available and the timing was accurate.

Maria's is a cute eclectic little restaurant in downtown Shepherdstown West Virginia. It is bright and cheerful with about seven or eight tables and some of the freshest best Mexican food I have had in a long time. although they are known for their fish tacos I ordered the huevos rancheros and they were delicious. A combination of tortilla, over easy eggs, White cheese, cilantro, refried beans, black beans and pico all extremely fresh and delicious. I chose carnitas as my protein..fantastic! My wife had the chimichanga and it was Crispy fresh and wonderful even deep-fried and she also chose Carnitas as her protein and her meal was also wonderful. The only way this gets any better is if they had their liquor license and I could've had a margarita! Ole! If you are ever in Shepherdstown don't miss it!

Set on a Main Street, downtown location with brick sidewalks, this is a small spot in a row of a large amount of restaurants, shops, within walking distance to campus. Stopped here after a Shepherd game looking for food, and settled here walking in on a Wednesday night. All ordering is done at the counter, with food being brought out soon after. Clean place with a hipster vibe overall. Ordered chips and Queso, as well as a burrito with pork and without the beans. Chips were good but the Queso was a little underwhelming. It was good overall- just seemed like it was missing something. Burrito was tasty - a little on the small side - but it was properly filled with equal amounts of meat, rice, cream, etc. Drinks are by can or bottle, which I'm not a fan of- esp in a mexican restaurant where sodium is always high in the ingredients - which makes you even more thirsty, and to the average person who doesn't take that into consideration - you could easily buy 2-3 drinks here which helps the bottom line. Stay woke. Highly recommended.

Love the food, the service, and the owner!! (She's my daughter!) I know how much Maria cares about the quality of the ingredients she uses, about the cleanliness of her kitchen and restaurant, and about the satisfaction of her customers. Maria's Taqueria started on a wing and a prayer immediately following Maria's graduation from Shepherd University, 15 years ago; the Grand Opening was on the Shepherdstown Streetfest, June 26, 2009. Opening day there was a line out the door-- and MT's has remained a popular place ever since. The restaurant has won many awards and high praises from several publications. It deserves every single one of them! It goes to show what a talented chef Maria is, and what high standards and a solid work ethic can do! And yes, I am one proud Mama!! Happy, Happy 15th Birthday, Maria's Taqueria!

One of the two meals we got. Tasted amazing and looked pretty on the plate!

Our server barely understood English, and even simple questions turned into a whole situation. I asked FOUR separate times whether the spicy salsa was free. I literally said, "If it's free, I'll take it. If not, never mind." The server kept saying yes, it was free... so we ate it. Then the check comes out with a $3.99 charge for the salsa When I asked why it was charged after being told multiple times it was free, the server still kept saying "free" while staring at the receipt. At that point I had to ask for the manager because we were clearly not communicating. The manager said there was a "language barrier issue," BUT because we already ate it, we still had to pay for it. That part honestly blew my mind. If I asked about the price four times before ordering, clearly the whole point was that I didn't want it if it cost extra What made it worse was the attitude. The server never apologized once and the manager acted super confident like this was somehow normal. And honestly... the food wasn't even worth the drama. Everything was ridiculously salty, and the salsa tasted like someone mixed it with water. Cool interior. Terrible experience. Definitely not coming back.
