College student here and simply needed to get a hinge fixed on my laptop before dead/finals week. They said the part needed to be ordered and shipping took about a week which I didn't have a problem with. The problem was when they were trying to fix the hinge, they broke my motherboard somehow and so I no longer have a laptop. They were very friendly and communicated with me every step they were taking. They were also willing to pay for the motherboard, but since I needed to go home, I decided to take my laptop back. read more

I've been in and out of this shop for years now, they're always really cool with me, offer up quite a bit of info and their time for nothing in return unless work is needed, and too many times to count they've thrown me a minor part i need for nothing if they had an extra one lying around, nothing big of course, but adapters and things like that. I've never had any trouble when work is needed, and i can't imagine they would be unwilling to adjust to a billing mistake if it was drawn to their attention, which hasn't happened to me yet. Grant did an awesome job on my laptop! My laptop couldn't hold a charge and he was to repair the port with a part that would not come loose as easily. He also replaced a missing screw. I would never come here again. They lost all the screws to my computer (10) and instead put nine screws of five different sizes in their place. I'm still working on getting the right screws. They also overcharged me, I needed a new hard drive after mine gave out. The price for the part and labor was fine, but the owner said he'd check if any files were recoverable "as courtesy" and then charged me for that and the installation of Microsoft Office (which I wasn't asked if I needed; I definitely didn't). I had to go back and uninstall a bunch of programs they threw on there, and some of the software for my laptop's functions (like the fingerprint scanner) no longer work. I heard rattling noises from my laptop when it tilted, so I finally opened it back up. Two screws from the battery part of my laptop were out and rolling around in the interior. My neighbor, a software engineering major, says that part of the laptop didn't even need to be looked at at all... They're the first place listed on a pamphlet from CougTech, but I would definitely go somewhere else instead. Definitely not a good experience. read more

The place is covered in clutter and trash on every surface including the floor. Their entry area is about 4 feet of space, which fills up at 2 people, with no personal space, during a pandemic. often there are 4 people crammed in there waiting. One staff person was literally wearing a shirt that was covered in dirt. I don't normally care how people dress but all these things just added up to make it seem like they do not notice details such as dirt, the mess everywhere, or keeping customer orders on track , etc. My phone repair took over a month because the first repair (which took a week and a half of communication mishaps) was defective. I tried calling multiple times and was told they would fix it, only to check in a week later and they wouldn't know what I was talking about. They eventually made it right though, and it's now fixed at no additional charge so that part was good. I had to remind them multiple times that when I drop my phone off to be fixed, they can't call me to tell me when it's done. Because they had my phone. I tried requesting email but this did not seem to make sense to them. They don't seem to use email for communication, just for their ticket system which they don't consistently update. So, I gave them a phone number of a friend who would then email me when these guys called her. For a computer place I would just think they would be more modern. They are friendly guys , and I'm grateful one of them could finally help me with the defective screen they put on, after weeks of being forgotten by the other people who were working the other times I tried. But they are completely and utterly disorganized and disheveled. They do seem to know how to fix computers but the disorganization just ruins all that. After standing around in this messy place multiple times I found myself mentally coming up with things that would make a huge difference to improve their store. They need to clean their store , pick up the CD cases and wrappers and old pens and ancient brochures that are strewn everywhere , put all the broken old phones and computers into organized bins and shelves, clean up the customer area, make the customer area bigger (there is room to do so) , and stop scribbling notes on scraps of paper and leaving them all over the place never to be seen again because the mess is invisible to them. I never leave reviews and almost feel bad doing so, but I don't want someone else to have this experience. Not going back. read more

Disappointed in the lack of customer service. I had emailed them with my issue, and asked if it was something they could fix and if so, if they could give me an approximate cost. They emailed me back (the same day) and said they could fix my issues (but didn't provide the cost). So I asked again, they responded and it seemed reasonable so I said I'd drop it off in the coming week. I tried dropping it off one evening after work (their website said they were open until 7 PM Monday - Friday) but they were closed. The sign on the door showed differing hours than the website. I left a voicemail once and swung by two additional times (within the timeframes the door had said) and they weren't open. I finally emailed them explaining I had tried to come by several times and asked if they could let me know when they'd be in the office in the coming week so I could drop it off, and they just simply never responded. I ended up taking my computer to VGH in Moscow and had a much more pleasant experience. read more

10/10 SAVED MY LIFE AND MADE IT SO I DON'T HAVE TO DROP OUT OF SCHOOL! Let me just say, I have had the worst luck with computers within the last month. If it weren't for my boy Mark, I'm not sure I would still be here today. At the end of August, I brought in a computer that stopped working. Unfortunately that one could not be fixed (Mark said that it would be it would be more expensive to fix than it is worth and that I should put my money towards a new computer). After I received this news, I went ahead and bought a new 15" MacBook Pro, an "investment for my future" I thought. I had this new computer for almost a month when, by the grace of satan, I accidentally spilled a whole cup of coffee over the entire keyboard/computer. I called Palouse Hills Computing/Mark in tears, and was told to bring in the computer ASAP. He told me that the chances were slim, but he would clean out my computer and would let me know what the next steps would be. Not only did I receive constant phone updates, but a miracle occurred. They were able to save my computer as I picked it up today. I am so thankful/grateful/happy with the experience that I had with Palouse Hills Computing and I would recommend highly to everyone! read more

I came in for a screen repair for my MacBook Air because it had been dropped and broken. They ordered the screen for me but there was a mishap with shipping so it took a little longer to get the screen in, so they didn't charge me for any labor at all. Extremely good customer service and was fixed within an hour of the screen being delivered. read more

My computer that had a simple issue with just a few of the keys not working was in the shop for nearly a month. They told me initially that it would take a week and then kept pushing back the date each time I called to check in. Finally after almost a month of waiting they return me the computer without the issue fixed. When I called them explaining that the issue wasn't fixed they said that they wouldn't give me a refund for the work that was supposed to fix my computer and that if I wanted to get it fixed I would have to pay more money to order a new key board. After 'fixing' the laptop for two and a half weeks, and charging for said service, the company (three employees, two of which were fired through the process, and the owner) told us that the issue could not be resolved. After requesting being refunded for said charges when the issue was not fixed, a 'meet' was agreed upon. The first meeting, the owner did not show up, and the employee there did not know how/was unable to act upon the owners behalf. Another meeting was scheduled for the day after. The next day, upon entering the store we were immediately barraged with accusations and threats. The owner told my girlfriend and I, that 'he has the phone number of the police right here, we are on camera, and that we had verbally assaulted his step son. Seeing how he has cameras, we had asked for him to review the tapes to ensure that we had never done such acts - to which he did not want to partake. After trying to diffuse the situation, seeing how we had no idea what was happening or why we were receiving such vile service and hostile threats, we were able to calm his senses to a communicable level, and settle the dispute - a refund (only after ALL parties, not just those involved in the transaction, had provided valid ID). I have never felt so disrespected, violated, and harassed by an individual in my entire life. The laptop has left the store more broken (three separate places) than it had entered. read more

I had a very old (2005) tax file on a 3-1/2" floppy disk that I needed to access. I purchased a very cheap (but new) USB disk drive on e-bay so I could get to the file. The disk drive would not read the disk correctly, indicating that the disk was not formatted. Not sure if it is the disk or the drive causing the trouble. I visited the Pulman store today to see if they could help. They tried the disk in a computer they had that had a 3-1/2" drive, but that drive did not recognize the disk. Might have been "game over", but one of their technicians recommend a utility "Disk Digger", which is available for download on the internet. He indicated that if I brought in the USB drive that seems to "see" the disk, he could try the utility to recover the file, or I could try it at home. Palouse Hills Computing did not charge me anything for their effort or recommendations. At home, I went ahead and downloaded the recommended utility, and within a few minutes had managed to get the file I needed from the disk. Thank you Palouse Hills Computing for your advise.
