Unfortunately, my family visited again this past weekend (June 4-7, 2026) and experienced another problem. This time, we were charged at a restaurant and sports bar that we never visited. As of today, no one from the casino has contacted us to apologize or make things right. We've spent hours on the phone with both our bank and the casino, with no meaningful resolution other than having to cancel our credit cards ourselves to prevent the charges from going through. We are extremely disappointed. Our family has been coming to Pala for more than 25 years, and it's upsetting to experience these issues. If these unauthorized charges are happening to other patrons as well, that is very concerning. What a shame to see a place we've enjoyed for so many years leave us feeling this way.

When I explained all of his training and then tasks they said he was not "acting like a service dog" and they said they watched footage of us waiting for a minute while they were coming and that he was "pulling on his lead" and "not patting attention" I said I take an accusation like this very seriously and that if they are truly claiming that I want all of this is writing and documentation of him "not acting like a service dog" as well as that video evidence of him not acting like a service dog. I then unfortunately had an episode due to the drama of it all to which my dog tasked and my husband stepped up and took over. They then realized they had messed up, changed their mind and said "we will allow it just this time" Absolutely ridiculous. My dog has gone through extensive training, been certified through two trainers, has passed his CGC and public access and the audacity for a security guard to say he wasn't acting like a service dog because he wasn't looking up at me every single second is ridiculous. They are not robots, he can get stepped on if not careful, he checks in every 10-15 seconds and alerts just fine. They would not show us footage of him "not acting like a service dog" which makes me think they were just lying to try and not allow us entry. I'm only writing this review so others don't feel absolutely awful since the valley view security treats people as the service dog police. I understand people abuse and lie about service animals, but it was quite obvious my dog is trained. To be questioned like a that was awful and just sad. Just be for warned you're going to be questioned like a criminal and may or may not be allowed entry with a service animal.

Also, yes, this casino does smell like cigarettes inside, so keep that in mind if you're sensitive to smoke. During my multiple visits to Casino Pauma, I've noticed that quite a few slot machines are broken, out of order, or have buttons that don't respond when pressed. That can definitely be frustrating. However, I will say that they have some great promotions, and they also offer live shows and entertainment! They send you free play in the mail after each visit when you lose, and you get $20 in food when you sign up for a Players Card. They do not tier match. I've also attended one of their drawings for a brand-new Ford Mustang, which was pretty fun. They regularly have live music and shows as well. And yes, the machines do pay out sometimes! They have a very small table-games pit with just a couple of tables. They offer $5 blackjack, which is nice if you're looking for a cheaper table game. There is no poker room. They also have a very small high-limit room, but it's machines only -- no high-limit tables. I've noticed that a lot of the machines are on the older side, but they do have some of the latest and more popular games. The casino can get pretty crowded on some nights, so be prepared to wait for a machine. There's also an open bar where they sometimes have live music, along with a small dance floor. I've noticed that Casino Pauma really does try to offer its guests a lot of fun promotions, events, and entertainment, which I appreciate. If you're in the area, I'd definitely give it a try and test your luck. Keep in mind that the casino is located in Pauma Valley off Highway 76, so it's somewhat off the beaten path. However, it's located between Pala Casino and Harrah's Resort Southern California, so if you get tired of Casino Pauma, you have other casino options just down the road. The food is good and the service is decent. Sometimes security can be a little annoying and may ask you to identify yourself. When they do, they'll bring you to the front desk, but they won't watch your machine for you while you're gone. Overall, Casino Pauma definitely has its issues, especially with some of the older and broken machines, but they offer a lot of good promotions and entertainment. I'll definitely keep coming back since I live in the area!

We made reservations at Tierra Y Mar for the 16th but unfortunately early morning I received a email cancelling our birthday dinner due to maintenance which was pretty upsetting so we drove back down to San Diego for our birthday. The dealer working Table 19, Matt, was incredibly rude and came across as if he didn't want to be there. You could tell by the reactions from the other players that they were just as surprised by how he was interacting with guests. As a General Manager of a restaurant, I understand better than most that customer service isn't always easy. We all have stressful days, difficult guests, and moments where we'd rather be anywhere else. Hospitality can be exhausting. But at the end of the day, whether you're serving food or dealing cards, you're still in the hospitality industry. Guests are choosing to spend their money at your business, and your attitude can completely shape their experience. I'm not expecting someone to be overly energetic or fake, but a smile, some professionalism, and basic courtesy go a long way--especially in a position where tips are part of the job. I would encourage management to review the camera footage from Table 19 during that time frame. It should give a clear picture of the interactions that took place. If possible, speaking with some of the players who were at that table may also provide valuable feedback, as it definitely didn't seem like I was the only one who felt uncomfortable with the experience. This review isn't meant to attack the casino as a whole because I've genuinely had many enjoyable visits here. It's simply disappointing when one employee's attitude overshadows what has otherwise been a place I've enjoyed coming back to. I'm giving 2 stars because I still like Ocean's Eleven overall, the food is excellent, and I've had plenty of great experiences in the past. I just hope management addresses situations like this so future guests receive the welcoming experience that keeps people coming back.

That's not innovation--that's exclusion. If you want to OFFER an app, great. Give people options. But completely removing the ability to call in is just lazy and tone-deaf. It shows zero consideration for your actual customer base. And this isn't the first time management has ignored players. The chip color change on the 4/8 table from blue to pink? Almost nobody liked it. Players spoke up. And just like now--nothing. No listening, no adjustments, no care. At this point, the place feels like our current government--quick to take your money, but not interested in listening to the people who actually keep the lights on. The players are the ones funding this place, and yet their voices couldn't matter less. It really feels like the people making these decisions don't play here, don't talk to players, and frankly don't care. You're just now putting it in? WTF? Invisible indeed! Another 15 minutes went by before my burger and "frings" (fries and onion rings) arrived. I realize that the guy was keeping busy with the walk-up customers, but I was right there! Sitting right in front of him! I finished half of the burger and had a lot of rings and fries leftover and needed a to-go box. Good gawd! More waiting ensued. I finally caught a young woman as she was leaving the kitchen area and asked her for a box which she grabbed for me. Keep it on the couch, toss it in the car for winter, or bring it out when you're sitting around a bonfire. The giveaway itself is simple: bring your casino card and ID, let them scan them, pick up your item, and keep it moving. No purchase required. Now, there is one catch: self-control. The curtains were hard to open and close because chairs and tables were in front of it and all the lights had to be switched on and off which was a little annoying for me. The elevators were slow but there was always housekeeping in the hallway if I needed any extra coffee or water and they were all really nice. You also couldnt log into your netflix or other streaming services which was a bummer. They did even have a cucumber lemon water in the lobby which was really refreshing as well. The pool was nice and had a DJ on the weekend but there was no service and no food as well. Just a walk up bar that was closed on Monday when I went, On sunday I did come down in my regular clothes to sit in a "cabana" for a moment when I was rudley asked to move as it was for reservations. I did see a reservation sign on the same bed the day before and it wasnt on there on Sunday so I thought it was ok to sit but the guy working there who didnt seem to like his job let me know he cant have me sitting there. I think next time they should just leave the reserved signs on there so there is no confusion and or just let someone sit if the pool is not even busy anyway. I did need the light to work so the lighting part cut my work time and they had robes and no slippers. Hopefully next time I stay it will be more available. But the wins aren't what keep me coming back--it's the people. Marlena Bradshaw was my host, and she was truly one of the kindest and most genuine hosts I've had the pleasure of knowing. What stood out most was that she always treated me with the same respect, whether I was playing a lot or a little. She was always responsive, professional, and willing to point me in the right direction when I needed help understanding the proper process of returning to this casino. I live about an hour away and have casinos much closer to home, where i have held a diamond status. But I still choose to make the drive here. She never made me feel like just a number or a card status. She made me feel like a person. While other casino host i had would look at my current status and tell me to contact the players club and that they are unable to help because I became a lower status. As if I am now irrelevant. Not Marlena ! She would answer my calls and guide me and never once did I felt less then anyone or anything. The jackpots gave me amazing memories, but being treated with kindness and respect is what truly made this place special.
