This place is great if you want to express some of your artistic capabilities. They have more than just pottery too. There are canvases and glass molds available. The staff are super friendly and there to help.

My friend and I had a ball today at Palmetto Clayground!! They accept walk-ins for the simple pottery painting items or a basic canvas. They offer classes for glass fusion and guided paint classes (the walls had some super cute images!!) amongst other themed classes. Upon walking in, we were greeted and asked if this was our first time at the location - it was our first rodeo so she explained the setup. Essentially you pick an item (price on the bottom) and once that's established you pick some colors and paint on! I know with supply issues it may be hard to stock for inventory, but found the selection enough for me plus was stumped on what to decide on! I like how they have seasonal items like ornaments, dreidels, halloweenie goodies, Easter, St Patrick's Day, etc. plus the basics like plates, cups, and side dishes. There's a range of prices from $6-$250 (that one was a gnome riding an owl statue lol). A little paint goes a long way plus I liked how they re-used the plastic palettes so that's environmentally conscious. It was super calming to paint plus liked the spinning wheel to avoid touching the item as much while getting each nook and cranny. It'll take around 2-3 weeks to pick up the item I'm guessing due to kiln space so I'll post the after picture then! If I had kids I would definitely host a party for them here, lovely way for folks of all ages to flex their creativity. Wish there were more studios with pottery wheels to create from the ground up. Perfect for rainy days!

If you are looking for something fun to pass the time away adults or children this is it. They have so many choices of things you can do, which is to paint pieces already done, or paint canvases. My daughter I chose to paint cups. I love owls, so I was glad to find one. You choose your paints and just have at it. You only pay the amount of your item. Once you're finished, you leave it with an instructor who was actually great. They will put it in an oven to glaze and call you in about 4 days or less to pick it up. I can't wait to see the completion of our art.

The young lady was of good help and very honest and straightforward with the prices, and process .she was very helpful to the kids. They painted I even went in the store next door while they painted their pieces. I picked it up in less than a week. Everything looks good I will be visiting again prices are kind of expensive but they do have items that cheaper $5-$15.

went here to try it out since i see it every time i go to the mall, honestly loved the experience and will definitely go back! Everyone was super nice and helpful, the only thing is when my item was being fired it was fired too close to another item thus resulting in a chip but overall loved it so much and i can't wait to go again!!

I honestly don't know how this place is still open. It's always empty and the one interaction I had work an employee was not a positive one.

The instructor was so nice, encouraging, and welcoming. She was very helpful and took her time demonstrating everything we needed to do. It was so step by step that an absolute beginner like me felt very comfortable with the process. On the night of the class, we made our mugs out of clay, then returned on a later day to paint and glaze them. When I went back to paint mine, the customer service was top notch again! There were so many different glazes to choose from, and the instructor explained which one would work best for my project and how different it could look after firing. When it was time to pick up my mug, it was bubble wrapped and placed in a bag with care instructions. Definitely 5 out of 5 stars! Just keep in mind that it will be a few weeks before you take your piece home. I absolutely loved how my mug turned out! I'm already signed up for two more classes, and I definitely recommend this place!

The art cafe mentions it's better to make reservations so we did about a week or two in advance. A table was set up when we got there but there were only 2-3 families in there when we were there. I can imagine it'd get a lot busier on a rainy day though, so I wouldn't risk not calling ahead. I think the charge for each person was $8, plus the price of your piece. I had seen some people say they thought it was a pricy activity, and without any prices listed online I was a little anxious about how much it could end up costing. When you get checked it you're told to pick a ceramic piece off one of the shelves, and there was so much to look at. They really do have so much; big pieces, small pieces, bowls, plates, mugs, figures, ornaments, decor pieces, etc. The smaller pieces can be pretty cheap, I think the small bowls me and my daughter picked were around $10, but most definitely under $15. My son picked out a little race car and that was was probably around $15. But I saw much larger pieces that were $30+. So this can most definitely be a cheaper activity if you keep is small and I think the $8 fee for supplies, glazing and firing your pieces is perfectly reasonable. After you pick your pieces you can pick your colors off a chart on the wall that shows what the colors look like once the whole process is done. This was a fun way to spend an hour or so, and I love the little bowl I made. The staff was friendly and checked in on us frequently. I was able to get a color refill at one point. They give you the pick up information on your receipt, the turn around time was about three days and I'm pretty sure I saw it mentioned on their site that they'll pack and ship it to your home if you won't be around long enough to pick it up. We will most definitely be back next summer, I can see this being a great yearly tradition!

Not only is Ms. Pidgeon a consummate professional, she is a genuinely good person who brings light and laughter to the teaching and learning process. Her comments, critiques, and suggestions are invaluable and have helped me to create art I am proud of. Ms. Pidgeon is an endlessly patient instructor who allows individuals of diverse ages and abilities to develop at their own pace and find the style that is best for them. During each lesson, Susan talks out loud about what the student is learning and why. This is a critical component for me. The instruction is seamlessly blended into working on a painting of my choice. Susan listens carefully to my comments, and that is the all important part of excellent communication and teaching. Ms. Pidgeon gives me confidence to experiment and try new approaches. I appreciate that she gives thoughtful answers to my many questions. One of her favorite expressions is, "There are no art police here." I love that attitude and the fact that it is always possible to improve an acrylic painting using Ms. Pidgeon's techniques. I have also mastered some of he basics of working in oil and how to use mixed media. I continue to explore these mediums, knowing that Susan is a veritable fountain of knowledge. Recently, I learned how to use molding paste to create action and depth in one of my more modern paintings. And in the midst of all the learning and experimenting, I have had fun. I look forward to each new week and the joy I feel. I know I am in the hands of a competent, caring professional who delights in the progress I have made and encourages me to move forward in new and exciting ways.
