Girls Weekend Getaway!! My friend was celebrating her 50th birthday and she invited us all to a getaway to Tybee Island. She reserved a spot for us on a beautiful Saturday morning. It was such a vibe. A cute, artsy area just a block from our rental. The place was so cute and fun. We were instructed by our host, Dana, who gave us a rundown of how our session would go and what to expect afterwards since our products would need to be shipped. Our party of eight was seated inside, but they also have outdoor seating. The little cottage could hold about 12 guest inside, where we were surrounded by hundreds of pottery pieces to choose from for our project. I had a hard time choosing what I wanted to design at first, and then one piece caught my eye and I was sold. A shallow, leaf tray that I could design to hold my crystals. The plant lover in me was excited. My astrological side was fulfilled. I have been looking for the perfect tray to hold my crystals for months now. Who would have thought I would be designing it myself. This was a fun project and fun experience overall. Dana really made it easy for us and she even took time afterwards to snap a few pics of us. She was very nice and helpful and was able to manage several groups all by herself. My creative side really enjoyed this and I highly recommend you visit if you're ever on Tybee Island.

Saw this shop was very close to our condo. My wife and I love doing crafty stuff and thought this looked like a fun way to get a unique souvenir. We looked forward to visiting this shop and was the one thing I really wanted to do. This was a wonderful experience! Dana was so sweet and helpful. She explained everything perfectly and set us up to have a fun time creating. She was very personable and made us feel like gifted artists when we left. She gave us great tips on places to visit and try. This is a must visit hidden gem.

Dana deserved 10 stars! On a bachelorette trip we happened upon her shop while grabbing some coffee. Her shop was closed and it had a sign that said she was out sick. We were so sad but decided to roll the dice and call the next day. At open, I called, no one answered. I decided it was a lost cause. Dana called me back promptly, left a message and then kindly and excitedly hosted our group about 30 mins later. Incredible selection of fun things to paint and get advice. Can't wait till our pottery arrives, she is shipping it to us! So excited! Thank you Dana!

The girl that was behind the potteries desk with us so well informed that we had nothing to ask.

Welcome! Indoor tables and several outdoor picnic tables.

I left this place wishing I could have come right back the next day! We are here on vacation but former residents. Certainly wish this place had been here when we lived here! Dana was very helpful with directions on how to pick out our materials plus the shop fee per painter. ($5 per person as of 3/20/21) She has it very organized with prices marked clearly and an easy way to pick your paint colors by chip. There are picnic tables outside in the full fresh air and inside. A couple of us had called ahead but she was also accepting walk-in families, too! Very cool souvenirs for the trip. For me S&P shakers, a new pencil or brush stand for my older daughter, and a unicorn piggy bank for my youngest. *note-if you've not done pottery classes before, it does take a couple of days to have the paint dry and for her to put them in the kiln before pickup. If you're here all week, schedule your visit at the front end and you can pick it up towards the end of your trip. If you're only here on a quick trip, then she ships for a reasonable fee.

A rainy day at the beach led us here. We are so glad.

We had a ton of fun painting our ceramic pieces for a chill activity! I'm glad I saw this…read morerecommended by someone on TikTok because this wasn't something I would have spotted driving by. The art cafe mentions it's better to make reservations so we did about a week or two in advance. A table was set up when we got there but there were only 2-3 families in there when we were there. I can imagine it'd get a lot busier on a rainy day though, so I wouldn't risk not calling ahead. I think the charge for each person was $8, plus the price of your piece. I had seen some people say they thought it was a pricy activity, and without any prices listed online I was a little anxious about how much it could end up costing. When you get checked it you're told to pick a ceramic piece off one of the shelves, and there was so much to look at. They really do have so much; big pieces, small pieces, bowls, plates, mugs, figures, ornaments, decor pieces, etc. The smaller pieces can be pretty cheap, I think the small bowls me and my daughter picked were around $10, but most definitely under $15. My son picked out a little race car and that was was probably around $15. But I saw much larger pieces that were $30+. So this can most definitely be a cheaper activity if you keep is small and I think the $8 fee for supplies, glazing and firing your pieces is perfectly reasonable. After you pick your pieces you can pick your colors off a chart on the wall that shows what the colors look like once the whole process is done. This was a fun way to spend an hour or so, and I love the little bowl I made. The staff was friendly and checked in on us frequently. I was able to get a color refill at one point. They give you the pick up information on your receipt, the turn around time was about three days and I'm pretty sure I saw it mentioned on their site that they'll pack and ship it to your home if you won't be around long enough to pick it up. We will most definitely be back next summer, I can see this being a great yearly tradition!

They offer classes for glass fusion and guided paint classes (the walls had some super cute images!!) amongst other themed classes. Upon walking in, we were greeted and asked if this was our first time at the location - it was our first rodeo so she explained the setup. Essentially you pick an item (price on the bottom) and once that's established you pick some colors and paint on! I know with supply issues it may be hard to stock for inventory, but found the selection enough for me plus was stumped on what to decide on! I like how they have seasonal items like ornaments, dreidels, halloweenie goodies, Easter, St Patrick's Day, etc. plus the basics like plates, cups, and side dishes. There's a range of prices from $6-$250 (that one was a gnome riding an owl statue lol). A little paint goes a long way plus I liked how they re-used the plastic palettes so that's environmentally conscious. It was super calming to paint plus liked the spinning wheel to avoid touching the item as much while getting each nook and cranny. It'll take around 2-3 weeks to pick up the item I'm guessing due to kiln space so I'll post the after picture then! If I had kids I would definitely host a party for them here, lovely way for folks of all ages to flex their creativity. Wish there were more studios with pottery wheels to create from the ground up. Perfect for rainy days!

I've driven along 95 several times and always see the billboard. But, I have never had time to…read morestop. Plus, they close at 5pm. Well, this time, I prioritized stopping. It's two miles off the highway, and you drive through a very unremarkable and plain town, although there is cheap gas!! Once off the highway, there isn't any signage to follow. But don't give up!! It's only about 2 miles away. I talked with the staff person, and this place exists because several local SC artists worked with the governor's office to create this artisans center to support and highlight local SC artists. So, it has the support of the state government. Otherwise, it probably wouldn't exist in this tiny little town. The art is located in an adorable house, and there is ample parking and in the back. As others have commented, there are more than 200 artists that have their work displayed. Prices are also reasonable. I tried to rush through the whole gallery, and it took focus. But, if you are tight on time, 30 minutes is a minimum. They also have a very clean bathroom, if you are looking for a pit stop anyway. I purchased a cutting board, pinch pot, and some hair berets. They have something for everyone, and I took a bunch of photos. I am definitely going to make this a regular stop each time that I drive by. It's one of the most impressive and compressive art stores that I have ever seen. In North Carolina she said that the "southern guild" is kinda like their sister organization, as I guess that the founders of these organizations got together and petitioned the governors' offices at the same time. This place is truly a gem, and I am so happy with my purchases. There are also other items that I didn't purchase, but at least you can see the photos of those items, too.

Lovely shop with art from very talented artists. Nice price range too- fun place to shop!read more
