I've been to Midnight Star Pottery (MSP) for various different occasions and my family and I are huge fans, especially my kids! One memorable visit, my husband surprised me with a date night there for our 9th wedding anniversary because the material for the 9th year is pottery! - Parking - MSP is located in the Ways Station Shopping Center. Plenty of spaces in center lot. - Vibe - When you walk in, you will walk in to the main room where most of the action happens. There are several 6-foot tables, as well as a picnic table and this room is where you will paint. There are so many items displayed throughout the store and it's hard to choose only one thing! They have all sorts of things to choose from, like ornaments, little figurines, dishes, bowls, cups, light switch plates, etc. They have a large room to the left where they usually host private parties or groups. There is a smaller room connected to the party room in the far back, where, if you choose to "throw" some clay, that's where you'll throw it. The back of the store is where the cash register is located, as well as, a sample of the color palette of different paints that are available for use and what it looks like after it's been "fired", so you get an idea of what they look like, because IT'S NOT THE SAME, Lol. They make great use of the space they have. - TLC - Jennifer, the owner, is so chill and easy going and her staff are all so wonderful. Super helpful and so knowledgeable about their craft. A great neighborhood shop, run by a local family who truly cares and remembers you when you stop by. - Activities - We attended a friend's birthday party at MSP and that was our first introduction. It was fantastic and my kids had so much fun! The kids got to choose one item from a variety of figurines and then the staff set them up with a paint palette and supplies for them to complete their project. The party room was well equipped with tables, chairs and the space accommodated the party nicely as there were the kids, parents and siblings and extended family of the Birthday Girl. My friend had baked her daughter's cake and there was ample space to display the cake and party supplies. My kids have probably painted a handful of things each during our multiple visits there and have even made a clay rose ornament, which Jennifer taught them how to make. By the way, is a lot easier than you think! She told me that they once taught over a hundred elementary school kids how to make the clay rose ornament. My kids recently came in with their grandmother when she was in town so they could spend some QT with her and make stuff for my husband and I. My MIL made a super cute Splatter bowl too (see picture). During our 9th Wedding Anniversary Date, my husband and I got a private lesson with Jennifer to throw clay, to make matching clay bowls for what I intended to use as noodle bowls. I even asked Jennifer to make a hole and cut out a space in the rim to rest the chopsticks. Our only mistake was not buying enough clay and should have made it a lot bigger, because it shrunk in the firing process and now they are more like appetizer bowls LOL. You pay for lesson and the amount of clay used. They came out amazing with the type of paint she suggested. I forget what the name of the type of paint is called, but basically, it has a life of its own and no two items will come out the same due to the way it cooks. They have some items on display so you get an idea of what it looks like. It's so cool looking and I love the way it turned out and such a great way to remember our 9th! - Kiddos - Obviously kid friendly, if you didn't get that from my review LOL. Now that school is out, they have a summer camp for kids, along with the regular rotation of events on their calendar. - Heads Up - Just be aware, whatever you paint, unless you want to leave with the item as is, you will have to leave it there so they can "bake" it and then they will call you to pick up the finished piece. This is such a great way to spend these hot, southern summer days when you don't want to stay home because the kids are going stir crazy and you still want to get out and do something. They offer so many different art and crafts, including glass fusion, clay and painting. There is something for everyone!

My girlfriends love love love this place and so do I! Midnight star pottery is a lovely place to get your right brain workout and unwind. ~~ Location~~ They have spacious studios with a variety of ceramic items for painting as well as 2 pottery wheels. They also host private parties for adults and/or children - my friends have celebrated several kids' and adult birthdays here. The studio is located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. ~~ How it works ~~~ You can choose any number of items that you wish to paint and next choose upto 5 colors per item (note that the paint form of colors look completely different from the finished product- they have a color swatches for reference). I love their burst colors - which is a combination of the clay paint with small contrast color crystals that burst when they bake it. I highly recommend Kaleidoscope and Lotus Blossom colors. Get yourself some water and paintbrushes from brush section. Pick a free spot at a table and let the creative juices flow! There is no limit on the items picked as long as you are able to finish it before the studio closes. Personally I like to pick one item after I finish the first one. However, if you end up not being able to finish painting all your items , you can come back the next day to finish them since you pay for the items and not the hours. After you are done painting, just leave the item and you contact number with them - they bake/glaze several items in bulk and they will give you a call when yours is ready. The end product is lovely! As for Pottery, there a only 2 wheels so you have to book in advance. The owner/instructor is a good teacher and you don't need to have any background knowledge. It takes longer than painting and you have to come back to glaze it. ~~Prices ~~ Reasonable and depends on the items you choose. I've seen it range from $15 to $35. The tray I chose cost $25. The cost includes the paints, brushes and accessories like stencils. Overall a fun place for a girls night out (byob) or an indoor family activity !

Amazing place to paint and celebration any occasion especially birthdays!

First off I have to say that I have YET to make anything here. BUT I will be bringing my 7 and 3 year old here to do so. It is a decent size studio with great options for painting pottery. NOW! I recently broke a plate that my wife's fail friend designed for her for our wedding. IT Was one of her favorite gifts from our wedding. She was very upset that I broke it. In desperation I took it to Midnight pottery to see what they could do. The staff was all interested in helping me and the owner said she could probably fix it , although it wouldn't ever be perfect again. She got it glued back together and touched up with paint. NOW I know this doesn't seem like much but they spent their time gluing it back and touching it up with paint. My wife was ecstatic to have it back! When I picked it back up they didn't CHARGE ME A CENT!!! NOW THATS COMMUNITY FOR YOU! Thank you for all the willing help you gave me and I was able to give it back to my wife this Christmas as a great surprise. We will be visiting with our little ones soon!

We had a ton of fun painting our ceramic pieces for a chill activity! I'm glad I saw this…read morerecommended by someone on TikTok because this wasn't something I would have spotted driving by. The art cafe mentions it's better to make reservations so we did about a week or two in advance. A table was set up when we got there but there were only 2-3 families in there when we were there. I can imagine it'd get a lot busier on a rainy day though, so I wouldn't risk not calling ahead. I think the charge for each person was $8, plus the price of your piece. I had seen some people say they thought it was a pricy activity, and without any prices listed online I was a little anxious about how much it could end up costing. When you get checked it you're told to pick a ceramic piece off one of the shelves, and there was so much to look at. They really do have so much; big pieces, small pieces, bowls, plates, mugs, figures, ornaments, decor pieces, etc. The smaller pieces can be pretty cheap, I think the small bowls me and my daughter picked were around $10, but most definitely under $15. My son picked out a little race car and that was was probably around $15. But I saw much larger pieces that were $30+. So this can most definitely be a cheaper activity if you keep is small and I think the $8 fee for supplies, glazing and firing your pieces is perfectly reasonable. After you pick your pieces you can pick your colors off a chart on the wall that shows what the colors look like once the whole process is done. This was a fun way to spend an hour or so, and I love the little bowl I made. The staff was friendly and checked in on us frequently. I was able to get a color refill at one point. They give you the pick up information on your receipt, the turn around time was about three days and I'm pretty sure I saw it mentioned on their site that they'll pack and ship it to your home if you won't be around long enough to pick it up. We will most definitely be back next summer, I can see this being a great yearly tradition!

my daughter and her friend went in and they won't let them pick up their art work. we have tried…read morecalling and going in multiple times but the door is locked or they just don't answer they phone. your a business answer your phone!
