The coaches are incredible--not only are they knowledgeable and supportive, but they genuinely care about each athlete's growth both in and out of the gym. Our daughter has developed so many gymnastics skills, but the lessons she's learned go far beyond the sport. At Davita's, the athletes are taught the importance of teamwork, perseverance, resilience, and grit. The coaches create a positive environment where hard work is celebrated, friendships are built, and every gymnast is encouraged to do their best. The sense of community at Davita's is something truly special. We are so grateful to be part of a gym that invests in developing confident, hardworking, and kind young athletes. We highly recommend Davita's Gymnastics to any family looking for much more than just gymnastics instruction.

There's a saying that will make this review much shorter and hopefully still resonate: "You are the…read moresum of the 5 people that you surround yourself with." GAC consistently coaches multiple athletes from barely walking toddler age to helping their athletes achieve collegiate success and scholarships. Our daughter has been with GAC and coaches for 18 months now and we would have never imagined the energy, time, consistency and the winning mentality that is present day in and day out here. We are so grateful how much they've poured into her and how it's paid off. While we do believe our daughter brings a lot of passion, and drive etc ...there is no doubt that her skills and confidence has been amplified because she is surrounded by such a committed owner, who empowers all her coaches which then trickles down to the athletes. Well I guess this is still a long review.

Old facility and very unsafe conditions. The machines are out of date and most don't have the…read moresafety pins that are required to adjust the machine to your body! I seems as if they keep the equipment on the floor just to make it seem full. The staff told me they are getting new equipment in a few weeks but what the heck am I supposed to do until then? The only real thing I see coming of use is maybe a class if I can (not the reason I joined), or the pool. And the pool is already booked out for classes and whatnot so the adult swim or family swim is only a half hour block...usually when I'm at work. I cancelled my membership on the spot and am mad at myself for wasting money on this sorry establishment.

The original downtown Summerville location of the YMCA has a pool and sauna, gymnastics facility…read morewhich the Ponds location does not have. I am partial to this location because it is the one I grew up with- I took gymnastics here. I'm pretty sure the gymnastics facility is exactly the same as it was 20+ years ago when I attended. The best part about this gym (now that I'm an adult) and location is the child watch- it is open 7 days a week. So, if you have kids, you can work out every day almost all day long (2 hour limit). M-F the child watch is open from 8-8, Saturdays from 8-1, and Sundays i think from 12:45-3:45. It seems like a lot of gyms in the area either don't offer childcare or if they do the hours are really limited. There are many different classes offered as well as fitness coaches/trainers if you want that. There are two cardio rooms, a small one with just a few machines and a larger one upstairs with maybe 10 treadmills, a handful of bikes and I think a couple of ellipticals. I typically come here a few days/week with my two littles, drop them off at the daycare, then go running through downtown Summerville (you are required to stay on the campus while you have your kids in the childcare unless you are going on a run in which case I think you just leave them with your cell phone # and then off you go) or I do strength training in the weight rooms. Like every gym this one gets busy from around 4-7 so you may have to fight a fellow 9-5er for a parking spot and then a machine. After 7 the teenagers usually come out for their daily bulking/mirror staring sesh. During the daytime you can almost always find a machine easily since the people that come are typically SAHMs and older people coming in for either pool time or the daytime fitness classes. During the weekdays this location is very popular with older people, they like to come hang out in the community room and chit chat and sometimes play ping pong. The social scene here for 55+ is pretty poppin. Happy sweating!

To the parents that are overwhelmed with the daycare choices in Mount Pleasant, Chesterbrook is by…read morefar the best choice I have made for my daughter. I am a teacher for CCSD and have experience at other daycares in the area, none compare to Chesterbrook! Ms. Tiffany is a principal that truly cares for every child that walks in the door and knows how to run a school for the well-being of children. She is frequently in the various classrooms helping where she can, setting a visible standard for all teachers and can aid in tantrum/boundaries like a pro. It is obvious she is knowledgeable in childhood development and knows that doing HER job of supporting the teachers, will allow them to be the best they can be for our kids. This then leads me to say that the teachers at this school are also outstanding! If you want your toddler to be able learn age-appropriate boundaries but still have an environment where adults show grace, teach coping skills and allow kids to explore, then this is your daycare. My daughter comes home covered in dirt and paint but has also learned to wait her turn, say "excuse me" to adults, share with peers and now has the social emotional skills to calm herself down in a tantrum. I owe it all to the LOVE, the PATIENCE and the EVIDENCE-BASED educational skills this school enforces!
