Mr. Martinez is an honest and straightforward person. He fixed a drywall for us and charged very very reasonably, I actually was compelled to pay him a bit more than he charged, since the other "professionals" asked gave me an estimate 10x more (seriously!, they said they need to repaint the whole wall !!!). Mr. Martinez did a perfect job, patched the hole, matched the texture and painted perfectly, the difference can not be seen with the rest of the wall. The job was done quick and clean. Robert is amazing and his prices can't be beat. He renovated the entire interior of my house. Replaced exterior siding and painted the outside of the house for a fraction of what anyone else would charge. He was able to make new kitchen cabinet doors and refinish the cabinet bodies, which would have cost me thousands of dollars to replace. He patiently worked with me and helped me select the materials (flooring, shower tile, fixtures, paint, vanities, blinds, siding, doors, etc) for every aspect my renovation. A small list of things that Robert completed: remove old tile and carpet, install tile, install baseboards, repair drywall, paint walls/ceiling/trim/doors, install new bathtub, raise shower head, tile shower, install bathroom vanities, replaced a broken window, install light fixtures and ceiling fans, update outlets and switches, install range and range hood, make new kitchen cabinet doors, refinish and paint kitchen cabinets, install blinds, cut down trees, trim overgrown bushes, replace siding, paint entire house exterior. There was nothing in the entire renovation that Robert could not do. I would not hesitate to hire him for any home improvement or repair work. I already have referred him to several of my friends and they are also amazed at the quality of work and how reasonable is prices are. Roberto did some odd jobs for me a couple months back including installing recessed lighting in the kitchen, cabinet repair, and repairing a leaking dishwasher. He is the kind of handyman that seemingly can figure out how to do just about anything...even if it requires a bit of "finagling" to figure out the most cost efficient way to make a repair. He was responsible with appointments, in the quality of his work, and very fair with price. To top it off, quite an interesting guy...;) I will definately call him again. read more

Spoke with Roberto and had him come by my rental house to repair a drawer and do some caulking around the master bath. He came and picked up the drawer and scheduled a time to return to the house to caulk the master bath. He scheduled 4 separate times and no showed on them all. He never called to reschedule or to give an explanation, I was always the one to have to reach out to him. Now he is dodging calls. He has been extremely unprofessional and I highly recommend avoiding his services. read more

Roberto does great work and his prices can't be beat. I had my guest bedroom painted and the bedroom door and casing replaced; he knocked it out in a day since I only needed one coat of paint. I purchased the materials, he painted them and fit the door (which isn't as easy as it sounds!). I was pleased with his straight paint lines around the baseboards and windows. He was super friendly, worked late in the day which accommodated my work schedule, and I'd highly recommend him. Unfortunately Roberto Martinez will show up and promise the moon, but does NOT deliver. He claimed his daughter was going to college and he would be back Monday to start working as we discussed. Never showed up, never returned repeated phone calls. I surprised him from another number and he answered. When confronted by me about why he didn't show up, he just hung up. If you want reliable, you won't find it here. Pick someone else. There's always someone better than this. read more

We called Palmeras' Handyman and were very disappointed with the service. While Roberto was prompt for the estimate, he never showed up once we agreed on a price for the work and a date. We talked on the phone the day of our appointment at 11am to confirm the 1pm appointment, and he never showed up. At that point, he stopped answering my calls and will no longer return any texts I send to him. read more

I got into contact with Robert through a friend that gave him rave reviews on Yelp. Robert and his wife are really nice people and I wish I could have written a good review too. I hired him to replace floor tile, re-tile bathroom, and complete some drywall I had started in the utility room. Unfortunately he didn't even finish a single project he started and left me with lots of messes to clean up. It's been several weeks and I haven't heard from him. Here is a summary of the experience: *** Poor communication. - Would often show up an hour to several hours late without any contact. - Several days in a row promised to complete the same task. I would come to the job site to find little or no work done. No call and no answer to calls. - Borrowed tools out of my garage without permission. Burned up my drill mixing mortar for the tiles and doesn't tell me. I go to use my drill and nothing. I ask him about it and he acknowledged burning up the motor. *** Poor craftsmanship - Damaged appliances, walls, doors, and cabinets during tile removal. He just went in there with a hammer whacking away. There were tile shards in everything. - Damaged walls and paint when removing baseboards from the floor. He didn't cut the caulk on the baseboards and ripped the drywall paper up several inches above where the baseboards would be. - Put holes in the drywall with a pry bar while removing baseboards. - Didn't use enough mortar on tiles. There is hollow sounding when you walk on it. Dropped something on the floor and it didn't just crack the tile, but shattered it because it was hollow underneath. - Grout came out on floor when cleaning up his grout mess. - Didn't mask off anything when texturing. He promised to clean it up, but disappeared before that. Took more than 8 hours to get texture off walls, appliances, vents, light fixtures, and moldings. - Doesn't plan work out and just starts going. While tiling the shower he ended up with about 1/2 inch to corner. Instead of putting in pieces of tile he just put 1/2 inch grout instead of the 1/16 between all the other tiles. On top of that it was sandless grout meaning you can't do more than 1/8" wide grout. Needless to say the 1/2" grout all cracked. - Sheetrock work doesn't follow best practice. He puts joints right at door jams corners. Puts the tape on after the first coat of mud. Had about 1/4 inch lip when putting in Sheetrock and just put about 1/4 inch of mud (cracked of course once dried). - Didn't remove all of popcorn ceiling before texturing. Along the corners where the ceiling meets the walls the popcorn was just left or left hanging. - Damages tape when removing popcorn ceiling and didn't even make an attempt to fix it before texturing. read more

Mr. Martinez came to my home at a moment's notice to take a look at a leaking door frame for me. He sealed it up for me and gave me tips on the door frame. He is completely knowledgeable, friendly, very professional & he smelled good too. I highly recommend him and will be using him for all of my future home repair needs. read more

I had an extremely disappointing experience dealing with Robert. He answered the phone and came (earlier than the appointed time) to give me an estimate. I agreed to the estimate and an appointment was set for the following week. I called him the day before and the appointment was confirmed again. On the day of the appointment, Robert didn't show. Forty five minutes past the appointment time, I called him and he said the appointment was set for later in the day. I tried to explain and the phone was cut off. I called again twice after that and he didn't pick up the phone. I left a message saying that I would like to keep the later appointment that he said he'd set up. (I had already spent the time to empty the area where the work was to be done and wanted to get it over with at this point). He never called me back and he did not show up for the later appointment. I called two days later and did not get him, but did not leave a message this time. He called me back, apparently not realizing it was me, and when I asked him about the missed appointment, he hung up the phone. I am writing this review to let people know that Robert might be very prompt and courteous while giving estimates, but based on my experience, can not be relied upon to show up and do the job. read more
