I had the genius idea to attempt to bleach my own hair last night. Needless to say, it did not end well. Lucky for me my friend had an appointment with Stacy Bruni today, so I came along to see if it was salvageable. Stacy is a goddess! She saved me from going home and shaving my head! I just switched salons from Rage to Salon Palazzi. I came over with my regular stylist/colorist Bret. He is always great. The facility is much brighter, with high open ceilings. Very comfortable and professional. The best part was the automatic espresso in cute cups and saucers. Nice touch. The owner was there and very, very warm and friendly. I've seen this salon several times while walking through the Farmer's Market on Sundays. I was happy to give it a try when I discovered that Ernie had moved here. The receptionist seemed professional enough, although she didn't offer any beverages. I guess it was self-served. Well I didn't come here for refreshments. I came here to get my hair cut done by Ernie Sierra. I wanted him to give me that "ho hair...heeey" and he did just that. I get my hair done by Sarah Collins at Palazzi and just love everything she does. She's extremely hip and trendy and knows what looks good, what works on you, and what doesn't. She's also extremely personable and I never feel awkward asking for advice about styling, colors, or anything else. Sarah works as an independent and books her own appointments, which also means she only takes cash or check which can get a little inconvenient if you accidentally leave your checkbook at home. LOL Sarah's prices may be a few dollars more than some places but they're still extremely reasonable considering her enormous talent and I feel she's worth every penny! :) UPDATE 10/6/11: Sarah now takes credit cards too. Meg Mills is THE BEST! She transformed my hair - which was about 12 differnt shade of blondes and browns, into a beautiful natural looking bright blonde that still had some dimension. She really took her time, and was honest with me as to what colors my hair could handle. I went to this place for the first time to use a groupon I purchased for the thermafuse treatment. The stylist- Karen Tate suggested I use the thermafuse instead of the keratin since I still would like to style my hair curly or straight. I got the treatment and a much needed hair cut, it took about 3 hours. I have to say I am impressed how my hair turned out, Karen did a fantastic job! She was very easy to get a long with, and took her time to fix my hair with precision. I went into the salon with crazy hair and tons of split ends, and left with silky smooth, perfectly cut hair. Before when I would straighten my hair, it was still frizzy, now it looks really healthy, silky and super smooth. I have gotten nonstop compliments on the way my hair looks. I will be going back to Karen to get regular hair cuts, and recommend her to all my friends. I may even get another treatment after this one wears off. read more

I called Palazzi Salon in hopes of booking an appointment with Stacy. Let me rewind, Monday, I wanted to get my hair done and I wanted to go ombré. I went to my usual person and showed her a picture, but it was pretty much a reverse highlight meaning it was blonde on the bottom and dark on top. Later that evening, I noticed the ends were green, went back to the salon the next day and asked if she could correct it. I showed her a picture (again) and asked if she can do it just like that. "Sure, no problem." Big problem. 5 inches of my hair from the root was dark brown, the rest of it (about 6 inches) was orange. Yes, orange, not copper. There was no gradual change of colors in my hair, it looked, I can't begin to say how it looked, but it sure as hell wasn't ombré. Stacy, you took me on Wednesday and saved my hair from an epic tragedy. I was seriously contemplating going to the store, buying a couple boxes of l'oreal in dark brown and calling it a day. You have gained a new client and I am forever appreciative you saved my hair!!! read more

Leslie was like an artist snipping away, standing back and taking a look then snipping a little more here and there. I couldn't believe how great my hair looked - the best in years. I called Palazzi on a Thursday hoping to get an appointment for that Saturday morning for a haircut. The receptionist was very kind and helpful and was able to fit me in for a 9 am appointment with Marisela. Best thing I ever did! Marisella was/is amazing! She not only taught me how to use their amazing coffee machine, but actually took the time to consult with me and offered her advice. I came in with a picture of what I was looking for (given my hair was a little shorter) and Marisela went over what we could do with my hair and what she thought would be good as my hair was a mess due to the previous stylist/salon. Marisela took her time (not once did she rush through, even though she was late for her next client) and gave me the best hair cut of my life! She worked so hard to make sure each of our hair turned out perfectly... and it DID! She didn't take one break between each of us because she wanted to make sure we were out on time. She came to the hotel we were getting ready at and brought all of her own supplies. She was in a positive upbeat mood and was so pleasant to work with. I had a lovely afternoon on the patio getting my hair done at this salon. I felt very safe as I I looked around With all of the sanitary measures that took place. She is open to do whatever you want and give you advice about what's better for your kind of hair, I can see that she love what she's doing. She dedicated a lot of time to my hair because I went for something pink and she made like pink and purple shadows it's great. I got a parking spot right behind this place and as I'm about to walk in to pay for my girlfriend's haircut this middle aged lady with blonde hair tells me that they will tow my car. After I tell her twice that I'm going inside she rudely remarks "whatever it's your car you idiot." After I ask her name she speeds off in her Audi I believe and after rushing to pay the over priced bill I come out to see a younger girl outside standing right next to my car waiting for the tow truck. I will never make the mistake of giving this place my business after they went out of their way to tow my car, they ended up not doing a very good job on my girlfriend's haircut (her words not mine), and they are very overpriced especially given the lack of quality and the rude behavior of some of the employees. I don't think anyone should be called an idiot, even if it is a guy going into a hair salon. read more

One star for the salon overall. The girl who cut my hair did a decent job on the cut. The color was sort of mediocre. Not what I was going for. The salon experience however was a joke. The stylist in the chair next to me was insanely loud and one of his clients was a complete redneck who was going on an on about repealing obama care. I just found it so upsetting and offensive we had to get up and finish my cut at another station. My hands were shaking. I moved down here from San Francisco and I am used to getting my hair done at truly professional and top notch salons. I might sound like a snob but I do not care. I paid plenty for the service but left thinking I will travel back up to the city to my regular stylist next time. They should really act more professional and make the overall experience better and have some ground rules for noise and cell phone usage and general obnoxiousness. Another complaint. She only took cash. I found this insanely bizarre considering no one told me when I booked the appointment. Cash only. Perhaps it was for my stylist only but even so, it was very off putting since I was not told in particular and my total was almost $200. Will not be going back. read more
