Made a reservation at burro bar for some brunch this past weekend and was definitely not disappointed. The service was great and when I called to see if I could switch my reservation to be indoors they were very accommodating. We were pleasantly surprised when there was actually a bottomless brunch special going on until 3PM. That meant unlimited brunch dishes!! (Drinks not included) Obviously we ordered a bunch of things - the French toast, tortas, corn, A LOT of tacos and much more (basically everything on the menu) Overall all the dishes were pretty decent but what stood out was the French toast - it was sweet but not overwhelming, super soft and delicious, the pork carnitas tacos were also really good with a great refreshing crunch from the apple pieces in there. They ran out of short rib and burro wings but would definitely come back to try that!! The brunch was also $21 per person which was a great price for the amount of food we got! Would definitely recommend trying this place out!! read more

What a great place, I came for brunch and stayed for the DRINKS! The location is great if you're able to. The patio is awesome on a great day. They have delicious small bites. You pay one price for the brunch, and did I mention the Margaritas. Service was fair parking can be hard. Will go again the city views are everything. read more

I loved everything about my visit. I don't normally like tequila, but their strawberry dragonfruit margarita was amazing! The tequila is infused with dragonfruit which cuts the tart taste that I don't normally enjoy. Our waitress was so friendly, offering us many suggestions and tips for navigating the menu. The space is beautifully decorated and well distanced. We felt safe to dine! The short rib taco was to die for. It has both a soft and crunchy tortilla which added great texture. The short rib itself was super juicy. I also enjoyed the Baja fish taco. Crispy, fresh, and paired with a delicious cream sauce. I'll be back for more! A must visit in Brookline. read more

We had dinner tonight at painted brow in Brookline after making a Resy reservation this morning. Their Mucho Mondays, just like their unlimited weekend Brunch allows you to try lots of things on the menu in small servings. Favorites were grilled chicken tacos, brussels sprouts, Baja fish tacos, and empanadas. We left very happy and full. Thanks to the manager and Kate our server! read more

I went to Burro Bar for their all you can eat brunch for $21. The food was so good. The fish tacos, the short rib tacos, the papas bravas and the blta gotta were some of the highlights from this brunch. I also had the bloody Maria - their twist on a Bloody Mary. It was very spicy and very good it was topped with a lime and celery. The service was very good and the food came out quickly. There was 5 of us at brunch and it is better with more people to be able to try all the food. You can order multiple rounds of food as well. I would highly recommend. read more

The place was packed. Seated at the bar and it felt like being on an airplane, one on top of another, and elbows encroaching on your dining space. It's loud and the food is subpar to decent. $7/taco is way too expensive. Most of the reviews are of their Sunday bottomless brunch. I wouldn't come here on any other day. read more

Tried the bottomless brunch with a group of friends (7 people) and it was a blast! The value at $21 per person is totally worth it. We ordered some drinks separately (yay for $6 mimosas) Ended up trying nearly everything on the menu! Overall the food was more like a 4/5 but considering it was AYCE I feel it deserves a full 5 star rating. I really liked the shrimp tacos, pork carnitas taco, chilqauiles, shishito peppers, and brussels sprouts. Some of the other tapas dishes were just ok (like the cauliflower was meh but the sauce was good). In terms of service, they did a respectable job of checking in for additional orders. My main complaint was that even though they took our orders individually they randomly served the dishes to the table. Also, if your table orders more than one of the same dish they will combine the orders on one plate, even if you're sitting on opposite ends of the table. Overall, if you want to enjoy a good time, chill atmosphere, and a great deal on an elevated AYCE Mexican brunch, this is the place. read more

The food was incredible , cant complain. We got a little bit of everything. Def try the coco-lime drink. Attended the " all you can eat brunch" on Sunday and it was a cool experience. The food was always surprisingly good. TIP: order more than one item at time because it's Tapas style very little portions but its worth it. The only reason I give this place 3 stars was because the service was Horrible!! Our waiter, and the other staff were rude and told us to hurry up because we only had 45 minutes. This really took away from the experience. We were not looking to stay longer. It was our first time, and we disclosed it. I noticed that all the staff were this rude. The only person who offered a smile was the host at the door. THE WORST PART WAS.... there were only 4 tables filled at the time we were there. It never got crowded and the weather did not help the crowd ... so no real need to rush anyone. Food was great, service was horrible read more

My friends took me here as one of them knew this place does an "all you can eat" brunch! How it works is you can order dishes from your server and they will bring them out to you. The service was 5/5 as everyone was extremely polite and quick. When we ordered our food, it only took about 10 minutes for 8 different dishes to be on our tables. We couldn't keep up with them! All the dishes in the all you can eat menu are relatively small, and that's great because you get to try so many different dishes! I can say with confidence that everything on the menu is good, especially the tacos! This was an amazing experience and I'm glad I got to try it! read more

I went to Burro Bar for dinner and drinks with a few friends. Overall, I was not at all impressed with the place. I made a reservation for their "outdoor patio", but it honestly did not make me feel too covid-safe. As someone who has strictly been doing take-out and outdoor dining, I was disappointed with their "outdoor patio". There are plastic curtains enclosing 3/4 sides of the patio, and it's not like it was raining or anything..It was a warm April 60 degree day in Boston. There was barely any air flow on the patio with only one of the sides open to the outside. I'm not sure I would have counted this as safe "outdoor dining". For the food: First of all, the tacos are $7 each! I thought $7 was going to be two tacos, but it was only 1 so I couldn't fathom spending $7 on 1 taco. I had the chicken quesadilla, which was $12, and it was pretty disappointing. The chicken had literally no flavor or seasoning on it, which I found quite odd. It was pretty cheesy which was the only saving grace, and came with pico and sour cream. Quesadilla portion size was normal. There was a free portion of chips and salsa for the table, but they didn't give us enough salsa for the chip ratio. The salsa was also mediocre, very smooth/homogenous (weird consistency), and not spicy at all. For the drinks: I ordered the hibiscus margarita ($12). It was pretty good - hibiscus flavor was nice and sour, average portion size / price for Boston. I tried my friends mango margarita and it was also pretty tasty. read more

This is a great, fun spot to go enjoy some tacos and drinks. They recently renovated the entire inside which looks outstanding. The food is always good yet the value could be a bit better. Most recently, I went the other night for drinks and some small bites and thought everything was great except the chips...not sure if it was just the end of the night or what but they seemed a bit stale. Regardless, this place is consistently good and a good option for Washington Square. read more

I've only been for the brunch on the weekends, but that is excellent given the cost/quantity ratio. Bottomless brunch for $25/person? Absolutely! Doesn't hurt that it's less than a mile from my home, so it's an easy option for a last minute brunch plan with friends. The waffles are GREAT (speaking as someone who loves sweet foods) and the papas bravas, Brussels sprouts, and Benedicta are also good. If you want a reservation on the weekends it's a good idea to plan ahead but I've had days when I decided to go at 11 and found a reservation for 12, no problem read more

Food was meh. I ordered the birria taco and the double stack taco. Birria taco was decent but nothing like a birria taco really. The double stack taco was just dry. The additions of the rice and the pork not that great. Rice was undercooked. Wouldn't come here again. read more

Finding parking may or may not be a matter of luck but just be able to pay the meter. The margaritas were underwhelming but tolerable. The nachos are good but it was alot like eating a salad..? It had alot of cabbage and carrot slices, it was quite odd. We got birria and short rib tacos (with the meal - rice and beans). The short rib was kinda bland and the birria wasn't crispy enough for my liking. The vibe I get is that people come here before their end destination or to catch up as a group. Overall, it's just alot of loud talking with background music. The service was just okay. I think this place is a maybe; if you see it in passing and you're hungry, maybe stop by. They also offer brunch so that's a maybe too. read more

Hop on your burro and head over to Burro Bar for your tacos & margs fix in Brookline! Being a Davis girl, I'm already a huge fan of Painted Burro's drinks and menu (especially their brunch), so while planning a rare night out in Brookline, I made a reservation at the popular Burro Bar to compare the two sibling restaurants. Burro Bar has a different vibe than PB. It's smaller, just one room, with hip lighting and paintings. This lil sis just seems cool from the start. The menu is shorter, with a focus on tacos, along with some shareable plates and larger entrees. It was busy when we arrived at 6:30 PM on Saturday, but we were seated right away at our reserved table. The service was friendly but with inconsistent timing. We first ordered our drinks, and later ordered our appetizer; however, the appetizer still awkwardly arrived before the drinks. Each table gets some house-made chips & salsa, which are already stellar, and we decided to splurge on the guacamole with added pork belly and charred tomatoes. This was a unique guac, although the pork belly & squishy tomatoes were just stuck on top instead of incorporated into it. We had to do some cutting and maneuvering to get the meat onto our chips, which was pretty awkward, but also pretty delicious when we got it right. A bit later, our drinks arrived. The Mexcarita was smoky and limey and the Mango Habanero Marg was fruity with a strong, spicy kick. These drinks are the same if not very similar to what BB's sister serves up. So you know they'll be good. Taco time! He got 3 (chorizo with runny egg, short rib, shrimp) and I got two. The coconut cod tasted fresh, although I would have liked more coconut flavor come through. I especially enjoyed the short rib "double stack" with the hard taco shell adding an unexpectedly great crunch and structure to the taco. The toppings each came with were all good and were made even better by adding the salsa and guac we had on the table. The other reviews aren't wrong: this place is pricey. $7-8 per taco is no joke, plus apps and drinks to make it a full meal. For the amount we spent, we could have gotten much more/nicer food elsewhere, but the experience and flavors are great. So just know what to expect, and you won't be disappointed. I think I still prefer Painted Burro's extensive & inventive menu (not to mention their Somerville location), but Burro Bar is a great choice for a fun meal in Brookline. Salud! read more

bad service, mediocre food that comes out too slow. Not sure if this is just a problem with the all you can eat brunch

The place has been buzzing ever since it opened just a few years ago. I live just a 5 minute walk from Burro Bar and it's a great place to catch up with friends over a drink and some light fare. The house margarita is an obvious recommendation. I know it sounds basic and obviously based on personal preference, but I really do enjoy the guacamole they serve here since there's definitely more citrus mixed in than other restaurant guacs. The house chorizo is super tasty as well. The space is intimate and had a great buzz going around, both inside and outside. Will definitely continue to come here! read more

First time eating out at a restaurant since the start of the covid emergency! We made a reservation for brunch, and sat in the patio. It was very quiet when we got there, and people were trickling in by the time we were done. I ordered the Lobster Benedict. It was served with potatoes and black beans. My favorite part about eggs Benedict is cutting open the poached egg. My eggs, unfortunately, were seriously overcooked...they essentially were hard boiled eggs. It was very disappointing and kinda difficult to get passed. I'm not a fan of hardboiled eggs, and ended up giving them to another person in our party. The sauce was delicious. The lobster was perfect. The bread it was served on was perfect as well. Potatoes were yummy, and I really liked the black beans. If the eggs had been cooked correctly, I would have easily given this place five stars. Another member of our party ordered the same dish, and her eggs turned out to be hardboiled as well. Would I return? Probably. But probably order something else. read more

Been here a couple times for drinks and small bites with friends. Despite trendy interiors and it always being packed, the food to me feels mediocre and kind of pricey. The free chips & small plates have been better than their enchilada plates and tacos - and the enchilada being the only 'large plates' is an interesting choice. $21 for an all you can eat brunch for 1.5 hours is a great deal here. We were unsure if it would work out for our table with 2 yelpers but it was great and we didnt need the full 1.5 hours. The plates are small but you can just keep ordering, our server checked in so much we were never worried about running out of time and everything came out super quick. I really enjoyed the morning taco, kale salad, potatoes, and cauliflower. The pancake and French toast were both very sweet so I would only recommend one per person. We had the mango margarita in a pitcher, and then the house margarita, which was a really switch because you can't taste the tequila in the mango one and in the second it is very strong. read more

I finally tried Burro Bar for brunch recently, and enjoyed the experience: affordable, delicious, with a relaxed vibe. No problem booking in advance for a large party (mini college reunion) of 10, plus children (we've entered the baby stage now). We picked Burro Bar Brookline primarily for its location with plenty of meter street parking in the area. It was also kid-friendly with kids' menu and high-chair available. Since it turned out to be a nice day, we were seated in the front patio space with shade. My only encounter with Mexican brunch has been huevos rancheros - which I'm meh about. So glad Burro Bar has much more to offer than that. Most of us ordered the Burro Bowl or the 'Superbeasto' breakfast plate, which sounds more intimidating than it really was. Both came in good portions, with good variety, tender and flavorful meats, and perfectly runny eggs. It ain't brunch if runny eggs aren't involved! Pair with a glass of their horchata iced coffee, and you are golden. Overall, we all had a great time, and would return for brunch again, and give dinner/drinks a try next time. read more

We had a reservation for 6 and were seated right by the door and the AC was blowing on us, so we requested to be seated at one of the other tables instead. The hostess insisted that we couldn't due to other reservations which I didn't really understand since there were 9 other empty tables for 2, but I didn't want to make a big deal out of it. There ended up being 4 tables still empty by the time we finished our food 1.5 hours later and most of the others werent even filled until 1 hour into our meal. I wouldn't mind this if the food was amazing but it was pretty average. I'll probably opt to go somewhere else with easier parking and better service next time. Seats were also uncomfortable to sit in in general. read more

After much anticipation and waiting for Burro Bar to open, my roommate and I grabbed dinner there last night. I made a reservation for 6:30 through their website, unsure how crowded it would be. I'm glad I did because the restaurant is small and it was FULL. We were seated at a high top, in between the people seated at the bar and those seated at lower tables along the wall. The vibe and decor is very funky and modern - great light fixtures and cool paintings. Our server was friendly and attentive. With it being a weeknight and all, we skipped on drinks this time around - but they looked delicious. To share, we ordered the nachos and the Mexican street corn. The nachos ($14) were massive - loaded with guacamole, sour cream, jalapeños, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and (I think) chorizo. The Mexican Street corn was SO full of flavor - I loved that it was served off the cob. I could have eaten a whole big bowl of that and been content. As for tacos, we each ordered the double stack short rib taco ($7) and did not regret it. Crispy, fresh tortillas piled high with juicy, tender short rib. My mouth is watering thinking about it. Overall: prices are a bit higher than what I'd like to pay for quality Mexican, but the food here really delivers. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu. read more

Eh. This was my second time here and I think we're done with it. It's in a nice location close to where I live, easy to get to, etc., but the service and management is too frustrating to deal with. I worked in the industry for enough years that I'm not here to throw a total bratty fit about our experience because it wasn't AWFUL... this place just needs some work. We went on Cinco de Mayo and showed up 15 mins early for our 2:45 reservation. There were tables open, but they couldn't seat us because there was a 2:30 reservation (that never showed up). They told us to go to the bar to wait. The bar has about 10 seats (all filled), but no one was standing waiting besides us. We didn't even get looked at by the bartender until 2:40, and we waited until 2:45 to even order a drink. We were sat (at the same table that was open the whole time) at 2:45, and the drinks came another 10 mins later. Tables opened throughout the whole time and they just wouldn't seat us, which is fine because we were early, but they were telling people coming in that there would be a 45 min wait for a group of 4 and people were gesturing at the multiple open tables and asking about them and were leaving after whatever they were told. It just was a bad look overall. The bartender was SO slow and measuring every single thing out in a jigger. Everyone has to start somewhere, but if she's new (I'm gonna give her the benefit of the doubt here), don't start her on Cinco de Mayo. She was sniffing shakers to see if they were clean (they weren't, she used the same one over and over). More appalling, she would touch the ice in the glasses after scratching her hair. She must've been having sinus issues because she kept rubbing her nose. I didn't watch while she made our drinks and just hoped whatever was in her hair or her nose wasn't contagious or gross. There was another bartender working. I'm not sure what he was doing, but I didn't see him make any drinks. He seemed to be chatting with the people at the other end of the bar and maybe made a drink or two for them. The scratching head & nose girl was making drinks for people at the bar and all the tables. The kitchen was moving FAST, which was great, but makes things a little more awkward with a slow bar. Our appetizer came out before our drinks that had been ordered before we sat down, and was wrong. We didn't bother sending it back because we didn't want to wait. We finally got our drinks. Food was good, and margaritas were good too. Our server Karen was nice but never really checked on us. We ordered main courses after another 20 mins later and a tequila flight. The food flew out fast again and the flight took another 15 mins. We decided to order one more shared plate and we ended up having to take a fork off the table next to us and share it to eat because we just never saw our server again until it was time to pay. Overall, food is good, bar was slow, server was nice but inattentive (maybe overwhelmed?)... there seemed to be way too many hostesses and far too few servers. They also oddly brought in a huge order of raw vegetables and food in crates through the front door and in the middle of that small restaurant room while we ate. Bizarre. No better time to do this than midday Cinco de Mayo, or no backdoor? The REAL MVP was the girl who cleared plates and refilled our waters. Small, younger girl with light eyes. She was really sweet and really on top of everything. She was always watching all tables looking to refill water. Someone promote her. Like I said, food and drinks were good. The decorations for Cinco were cute. Overall, not worth the frustration. Maybe we'll try the South End one next time. Edit: Just wanted to update - management got back to me VERY quickly on this review, thanked me for my comments, and sent a gift card to try out any of their 6 restaurants. It was unnecessary but so kind, and greatly appreciated by my partner and I. Thank you very much to the management group. read more

Really poor experience here today. Came in for a margarita after lunch, the place was empty inside and the patio was half empty. We really hate to give restaurants bad reviews, especially during these difficult times. That said, certain things at restaurants are expected and Burro Bar just did not deliver in so many ways. Our waiter was clearly overwhelmed by any questions we asked him. There was nothing complicated about the menu, obviously, but still we had a few questions about portion sizes and he was really confused. We got our food before our one drink - which we saw just sitting at the bar until way after we started eating our food. It was difficult to get our waiter's attention all night. The food itself was very generic. The flavors just were not anything special and everything we ordered tasted store bought. Like if I bought the guac and salsa at Whole Foods and dumped them into a bowl. The taco I had was really lacking any kind of texture and flavor. Maybe it was an off night for them... read more

Amazing experience and service here. We came here on a Sunday afternoon wanting some appetizers and a few drinks. To our delight, that actually had a full brunch menu that was served all day for about 20 bucks. The options were vast and super great taste. I definitely tried a lot on the menu. The place is sort of served like tapas style, so you can definitely divide and share amongst your table. I got the tacos (pulled pork, beef, and shrimp one). The pulled pork was my favorite. It also comes with this apple salsa, I didn't care for it as much as the aioli, which was creamy and a good sauce for the taco. The nachos are also a good option and is great for sharing with a group. All the topping were great. We said chorizo and jalapeños on the side since not everyone in the group liked them. The star of the buffet, was the grilled corn on the cob with accents of cheese and spices. They ran out of corn. I can see why since it was a hit. The grilled Brussel sprouts with bacon was also good. Salty from the bacon, and earthy and bitter from the brussels sprout. The potatoes were OK- but nothing to go crazy over. Same with the wings, it had a grilled and zesty flavor, but the the wings itself were average. The nachos were so good we ordered another order! Overall, the service was attentive and also very understanding. The manager came out to let us know that the corn was sold out, but there were still other veggie options on the menu. Drinks were refilled promptly. Servers came to check on us without us try to flag them down. The workers were courtesy and approachable. read more

The brisket taco was 8 bucks. That price should be illegal for a taco, no matter how good it is. Saying that, the taco was pretty good. The brisket was cooked perfectly.
