After the first class with Edgar, Annabel was so excited and eager to continue. Edgar spent time with her explaining 'how' to draw... sounds basic, but as it turns out, isn't. Her dog portrait was pretty good for first try. After the second class with Sarah, Annabel emerged saying, "Nana, I love art class, can I go every day?" Well, she is working on a portrait of her and her Mom now and she can't wait for next week's class. Sarah King has a truly very nurturing, nourishing energy and it is palpable in the studio and the other students. After class Wednesday, Annabel drew a picture of her at softball from her phone. Annabel and Nana are so very grateful for the gift of King Art Studio.

It's better to clean your own greenware because their greenware isn't cleaned that great, the pour holes are often choppy and the seams aren't clean. The place needs a good cleaning, dust from clay is all over the shelves and floors and they never get washed. The bathroom is pretty gross too. The overall atmosphere is cheery. I had taken an 8 week pottery class at another location a decade ago. I got that creative urge to…read moretak another and chose the intermediate class at Common Ground Pottery. Little did I know I was WAY out of practice and not really up to intermediate level. That didn't stop me though. I pushed through the stuggle and came away with 3 respectable pieces. That is due in large part to instructor Colin. I wasn't always able to follow what he was doing but he was patient with me and showed me close up what to do. I still wasn't able to pull the exact shapes I was envisioning in my head but I am happy overall with what I was able to make. I was actually worried about one piece and even went back to the studio to have them toss it. I had gouged the side and patched it back together. I was afraid it would blow apart in the kiln. But I was assured it would be ok. And guess what? It was! Of my three pieces, the large bowl I made as a fruit bowl is my favorite. This is followed by a flower vase. My least favorite, a bottle, is the one I was worried about blowing up. I botched the top a bit but I made the best of it. I hid the top by turning the piece into a table lamp. And now I like it just fine. Some small regrets I have are that I wasn't really able to finish the pieces. I trimmed the vase and the bowl. I wasn't able to trim the bottle since it was made on the last day of the class. I also did not get to glaze these for myself. But Colin took down my glaze choices and that was done for me. And they came out beautiful. The vase and the bottle, similar shapes, were done in a denim blue. The bowl was supposed to be green but came out a little more aqua with some iridescence. Looks nice but not as dark as I was imagining. I don't know that I'm ready to jump back in to pottery again but I do still have some other ideas. I keep thinking I want to try hand building since I've twice done wheel throwing. I'll be sure to keep Common Ground in mind for that and see what they have to offer.

We took a beginner wheel class, but I didn't feel like I learned a lot because the substitute instructor had other priorities. The class started about 30 minutes late, but we didn't get to make up that lost time. And to top it off, the instructor was distracted and dropped the piece (that I wanted to keep) while wiring it off the wheel! I understand that it was a hectic day and the instructor was busy all by themself, so I scheduled another beginner class a week later. But, I had a similar experience, and I still didn't feel like the instructor had their full and undivided attention on us. I feel like I didn't get my money's worth both times. I'm sure the classes and instructors are great, but I don't see myself coming back here.

This is such a darling place. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about the experience…read more It is mostly a self-guided experience when painting pottery but they do a really good job explaining what you need to do. You have a 2 1/2 hour slot to finish your painting, which usually constitutes about three layers of paint. The tables for painting are a little bit tiny and shaky, and I found the brushes to be a little bit more difficult for detailed work. When you register, you have to pay a studio fee as well as a fee for the pottery that you will be painting. So plan to spend about 50-60 bucks for two people, depending on the size and item you select for pottery. It will take approximately 2 to 2 1/2 weeks to get your pottery back so plan accordingly. I definitely overall enjoyed the experience and would return to this location to paint something else.

Her performance was terrible and messed up the whole recital. People are still talking about it. We didn't get the video until September. As for price, I would say that they're pretty much competitive with other dance studios as I've been shopping around. However, the recital I. June they make you purchase costumes I spent over $300 for my daughter for just two classes. Other studies rent the costumes they purchase. I should add that the costumes came a size to small and too late because dress rehearsal and pictures were a week or two after that so there was no room for exchange for a bigger size. The owner made barfing sounds at the girls when they were showing them the dance and honestly, that was the first time our kids met her since it was my daughters second time doing a recital there we had no idea she was the owner she's never around. There was a time when my daughter had a private dance and they had to text me last minute to cancel because their AC wasn't working, which I'm glad they text me however they had the girls still dancing that whole week in the heat. It was so sad. The dances teachers and kids were sweating in the studio because it was in the summer and you know how hot it gets here in Vegas in the summer. They do offer makeup classes so if you miss you can make up the class, however that might change since they're changing a lot of policies and they didn't offer that due to the AC being broken. It actually took a while for the AC to work I really think they should have paused classes until the AC was fixed. A lot of of the dancers did leave after the recital and including her friend and now we will be following her friend as well. Goodbye and good luck to everyone at Legacy Dance .
