Came here two times several months ago and didn't have the greatest experience. My friends and I visited during two separate weeks, but it just so happened that both times, the instructors we were supposed to have didn't show up, so we had the same substitute instructor twice. We took a beginner wheel class, but I didn't feel like I learned a lot because the substitute instructor had other priorities. The class started about 30 minutes late, but we didn't get to make up that lost time. And to top it off, the instructor was distracted and dropped the piece (that I wanted to keep) while wiring it off the wheel! I understand that it was a hectic day and the instructor was busy all by themself, so I scheduled another beginner class a week later. But, I had a similar experience, and I still didn't feel like the instructor had their full and undivided attention on us. I feel like I didn't get my money's worth both times. I'm sure the classes and instructors are great, but I don't see myself coming back here. read more

Decided to do an experience for Fathers Day and took my dad and my husband, plus a ride along with my mom! The fee for pottery was $60 per person. In addition, the pottery includes one piece ONLY, each additional is extra (which was not said prior). If I had known, I would've focused on one piece if that was the issue. Oh well. The instructor was knowledgable, but Im disappointed we couldnt follow along, but instead the instructor went through the whole plan and then let us go. Wish we could've worked along side the instructor. But may try again! We shall see read more

If you're looking for a great experience or the ultimate mommy-daughter bonding experience that's equal parts messy and magical, look no further than Oasis Pottery! Our three-week class was like stepping into a creative wonderland--imagine a pottery wheel and two enthusiastic hands that may or may not have been more interested in splattering clay than actually making anything. We painted, we fired, and then came the grand finale of adding finishing touches. I'm convinced our creations could be mistaken for modern art--if modern art were a bit lopsided and had a few extra splatters. But hey, that's what gives it character, right? The best part? Watching my daughter embrace her inner Picasso while I tried desperately to channel my artistic side (and failing spectacularly). We created memories that will last longer than our slightly wobbly pottery. If you want a date that's messy, hilarious, and filled with laughter, grab your favorite little sidekick and head to Oasis Pottery. Just remember to leave your worries--and your expectations of perfection--at the door! read more

I've had such great experiences at Oasis Pottery! I've taken several wheel throwing classes over the last few months with several instructors, including Martha, Jason, and Gwen. They've all been extremely helpful with teaching me the basics of wheel throwing, trimming, glazing, and attaching handles to mugs, to the point where I can now do these things successfully and independently. (Not to mention, it's so much fun!) Wheel throwing classes start off with a demonstration on how to center the clay on the wheel, open your piece, pull up the walls, and shape your piece. Everyone gets 3 pounds of clay to work with over 1.5-2 hours, and the instructors check in on everyone to give advice on adjustments to our technique, fix mishaps (to the extent possible), and ultimately help us create a piece we can take home and love. As other reviews said, definitely bring hair ties and expect to get clay on your clothes! No one said it's a clean activity, but it's definitely a fun one. I haven't tried hand building classes yet, but from what I observed, instructors are helpful and attentive to a similar extent! In terms of the vibe, both the staff and members are highly supportive, encouraging, and willing to offer guidance, which was comforting to me as someone entirely new to the craft. Taking a pottery class would make such a fun date night or group activity, and I'd definitely recommend this studio! read more

I recently took a clay hand building class at Oasis Pottery, and it was a wonderful experience! The instructor was knowledgeable, patient, and made the class enjoyable for everyone, regardless of experience level. I learned so much in just one class and left feeling inspired and excited to continue making pottery. The studio has a welcoming, creative atmosphere that makes you want to come back and keep learning. If you've ever wanted to try pottery, I highly recommend Oasis Pottery. Whether you're a beginner or looking to build your skills, it's a fantastic place to learn and create. I can't wait to go back and make more pottery! read more

Oasis Pottery - Jason was AMAZING - Art Classes Near Me - Las Vegas, Nevada

I finally booked an introductory class to pottery throwing and I'm really glad that I did! Oasis Pottery has a user friendly website where you create an account and can select a class and time. I booked a 5pm class at their studio to get my hands dirty with clay. As expected, the class was relaxing and fun. We had Jason as an instructor. Very laid back, clear speaker, with thoughtful feedback and insights. He answered all of our many questions and reassured us when we felt like we needed some extra help. His instruction was detailed, but since it was my first time I didn't grasp all the information he was sharing. I'd recommend coming back with low expectations about what you'll be creating because it's definitely a skill that takes time to develop. I started off my first piece then quickly learned I'd go through much more fresh clay because it kept falling apart again and again. Some tips: If you have long hair like me bring a hair tie!! I made the mistake of leaving my hair down and things get messy. Wear some clothes you don't mind getting wet and muddy. Also, don't forget to bring some water. It's a 2 hour long class. Overall, I had a great time. Learned a lot and I'm sure I'll be back very soon! Thanks to the team at Oasis Pottery for being great! Also, I loved the music playlist! read more

We had an amazing time here! Martha was so helpful and kind, we will definitely be back!!

My girlfriends surprised me with a class at Oasis Pottery for my birthday. They told me getting ahold of the owner to schedule an appointment was difficult and she was not responsive, but they were able to secure 3 seats for us the day before we took the class for wheel throwing. As soon as we arrived, we put on aprons and sat at a potter's wheel while the owner/instructor (Martha) demonstrated how to first operate the wheel and then how to center the clay. She then proceeded to show us how to form the clay so we could get rid of air bubbles, which eventually would lead to forming our own piece. Thankfully, the class fee included 3 lbs. of clay, so we had 3 chances to center the clay and make a piece. I messed up my second piece due to moving my finger while it was spinning, which caused a hole at the base. Unfortunately, I was not able to salvage the piece. Heads up, operating a potter's wheel takes a lot of upper body strength. Over time, we all felt our hands and arms getting more fatigued. Also, at the end, my back was sore from hovering over the wheel to center the clay. However, the experience was extremely fun and rewarding, and the instructor was always available to help. There was always that fear of messing up your clay after forming it into a good shape (happened to me on my second try), but most folks in class also had the same struggles. Once we finished our pieces, we were able to pick a paint color for each one (there were about 7-8 paint colors to choose from, and Martha would do the painting). We were told the pieces would be ready in 2 weeks. Overall, this was such a fun experience and my interest in wheel throwing is piqued. I have more respect for the folks who make it look easy. read more

We have been looking for a pottery studio where we could take a wheel throwing class and Oasis Pottery was one of the only places we could find. We decided to bring our team here for a private class as a team building event. It was a super fun way to spend a couple hours and everyone really enjoyed themselves. The class itself came with a dedicated instructor and everyone had their own wheel to work at with clay and equipment included. We were given some brief instructions and then given the opportunity to create a few pieces of our own. Most of us were able to make 2 pieces in our time. The cost of the class included 1 piece to be glazed. I would say my only criticism is I wish that there were more glaze options. Maybe some more modern clean colors. Also - a little bit more detailed instructions would be helpful but it's also hard to say as I'm sure it is difficult to teach too much in a short introductory session. Overall this was such a fun experience! Our whole team had a great time and we would recommend anyone to come check this place out for themselves. read more

I attended a private group class for pottery throwing and would generally recommend it for anyone looking for a fun group activity or date night. The studio is eclectic and inspiring with all of the wonderful mess that comes with art. For our session - the instructor teaches the basics of how the wheel works and explaining and demonstrating the techniques used to center and shape the clay (which is much harder than it looks!) After that, each person was given three 1lb pieces of clay for three total attempts at making whatever we desire while the instructor offers help. At the end of the class we picked a glaze for any piece we choose to keep, and will come back in a few weeks to pick up our beautiful creations! Overall the experience was a good time I would recommend. I took off one star because, like others have said, it can be tough to get a response back when trying to set anything up (I had originally texted about wanting to sign up for a class six months earlier and never got a response). I also didn't feel like the instructor was particularly attentive when it came to our "free time" - she was doing other things throughout the studio and we'd have to call her over if we needed help with anything - in my opinion it would have been nice for her to observe and offer insight into how to fix the specific mistakes we were making so we could learn. read more

If you're looking to try pottery or ceramics, or looking for a community studio, I highly recommend Oasis. I've tried all the clay places in town, and Martha and her team at Oasis is one of the best. I was looking for an intro class to wheel throwing class and this place was perfect. Martha was very responsive and even opened up another time slot for Mother's Day weekend. We went as a family on 5/10 and had the best 2 hrs. They were very patient and informative. It was def a challenge to learn the process. But all of us were able to create something. My daughter was 13 and was able to do it as well. Once we created our pieces, she had us choose colors and ended up finishing it for us and even shipped it to us (we are from SoCal). I would recommend this place read more

I attended a pottery class at Oasis Pottery back in November and paid extra to have some pieces fired in the kiln. Unfortunately, our experience with their service has been disappointing. We contacted the store recently to inquire about our pieces, only to be informed that they had discarded them within 30 to 60 days after they were ready for pickup. This timeframe was not mentioned on their website in booking nor their FAQ nor were we told of it when they informed us that the pieces were ready for pick up. (As a side note too, how would we know if our piece would be discarded on the 30th day or the 46th day? Pick up between 30 to 60 days is too broad). We also did not receive any notification before our pieces were thrown out. I would have hoped that they would contact us one more time before throwing our pieces away. We spent over $300 for these extra pieces, and the store refused to refund us the full amount. $300! What exactly were they thinking while they threw away all of our items? This lack of communication and poor customer service is unacceptable. We expected better from Oasis Pottery and are deeply disappointed with how they handled the situation. They need to implement a better tracking system for pick ups as they should have known exactly when our pieces were ready for pickup and what date they were discarded. They also need to be explicitly clear by having multiple places on their website stating the pick up time. We completed the pieces back in November but they told us it would be two to three weeks for the pieces to be ready and we were lax in our time to pick up the pieces because of the lack of urgency from Oasis Pottery to pick up these items. They also should not just call but email the clients stating the pick up dates. Oasis Pottery, feel free to take my advice just like y'all took my money. (Being a small business isn't a very good excuse to have poor practices btw). read more

Great place for pottery supplies. Staff is great to work with. They also fire pottery there. Love Oasis.

Finally a great resource for local pottery artists. Highly recommend. Knowledgeable, friendly, and competitively priced.

I wrote a 5 star review for Oasis Pottery earlier (so you can find it here somewhere; just don't want to repeat myself). But I do want to further say I like Oasis Pottery because they provide all the standard clay tools on the premises at no extra charge. Sponges of all kinds, sizes, and shapes; needle tools, clay cutting wires, all the various ribs, the many wood and metal clay carving tools, etc. A nice feature because that saves you money, and also you don't have lug your own tool bag back and forth. And, you don't have to worry losing your own equipment. Just another nice feature of this studio, among so many others. read more

I had so much fun here! Martha is very well spoken, and does a wonderful job at giving you a demo. She helps when you need it but she doesn't hover. Fun date night probably turned into a hobby. Staff friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back!

I have had previous experience in ceramics and felt the loss of not having a studio in Las Vegas Valley to go to for twenty years. I was very fortunate to find Oasis Pottery and its perfect proprietor, Martha. I am enrolled in its membership program and have re-learned my skills and am progressing thanks to the amazing environment & resources offered by the studio and the great people associated with it. As this studio, with its even greater future potential further enhances its capabilities, I will go along for the thrill of it all. I found this place online and their website says to text them to book. My friend really wanted to do a pottery class for her bachelorette party so after searching online, I chose this location and texted the number. No response... I texted them again the next day to follow up, still no response. To this day, many months later, I still have not heard back. I live in California and it's not like I could drive out to Las Vegas to see if they're open. Why ask customers to text to book when the company doesn't have the decency to respond to their customers. Terrible business operation... read more

What a wonderful first time experience at Oasis! I had never used a wheel for pottery and always thought it was super intimidating. Went for an early Valentine's Day experience. Brian and Martha were wondering going over everything step by step. Brian gives you a demonstration first so you can really use his tips and guidance as a visual learner. Then, hands on the clay! You get 3 tries with a 1 pound ball of clay. It was so much fun and though I found out I sucked at it, I ended up with 3 pieces that will allow me to remember this day.
