It was overpriced, already made pottery for you to paint. Although it was overpriced, I will say it was very therapeutic and we enjoyed ourselves. We returned again in 2024, but this time for a homeschool pottery class. I absolutely love that they have planned days for homeschoolers to come in and create different projects. The pricing for that was better and again the kids enjoyed themselves.. The owner and other ladies were kind during both of our interactions. I recommend visiting this place solo or with a group for some therapeutic fun. Recommended

There were great options to choose from to paint and they have some other activities as well. Jessica was the lovely lady who helped us and gave great information and instructions. They had a lot of different tools and techniques that I hadn't seen before. I also really appreciated that they encouraged us to take the bottles of paint needed to our table. A previous place I had gone to, filled our palettes for us and told us to ask for more if needed which was very frequent and difficult when it was busy. Anyways, we got our mugs and our paint and began to art! We had a great time and felt no pressure to get finished quickly. I am looking forward to seeing our finished prod

I had the pleasure of attending their "Christmas in July" class. I've never been to an AR workshop class before and had no idea what to expect. Upon entering they have your crafts laid out and labeled with your name on it. Shortly after a large bachelorette party came in and no one had a mask on! I thought maybe the employees would ask us to put our mask on so I kept mine on. The employees gave a welcome address to us all to let us know how the session would work. At the end of the speech the employees said we didn't have to wear a mask !! There was well over 20 people in this class and with the exception of myself and one other employee no one was wearing a mask despite the current mandate by the Governor. I made a custom pillow and the staff was so nice and helpful. Each table is given an AR employee to guide you along the way with paint and power tools for the ones making wooden signs. The staff had individual bags of Christmas cookies and festive Christmas music to make things fun. I really enjoyed making my project and would consider returning once the Pandemic is over. My hope would be that the Mechanicsville AR team takes the necessary steps to keep their customers and themselves safe throughout this pandemic.

This was our first time working on a wheel and we had a ball. Our instructor, Nila, was super helpful and provided clear instructions throughout the hour. The class has a max of 12 people and the space is well setup to allow for a personalized experience. You get to choose what color glaze gets applied. They fire your piece for you and you can pick it up in three weeks. There's a small parking lot, but I'd leave some extra time in the event you need to find street parking. We came on a Sunday and didn't have any issues finding street parking a few doors down. We'll definitely be back!

I have…read morebeen going there for two months straight, and I have officially found my new hobby of choice. I like how the classes are organized because clay, glaze, tools, and kiln firings are all included in the cost of the class. The space is huge and has multiple tables and rooms to practice your ceramic skills. They even have a semi-outdoor garage area for potters to set up in. In addition to the great space, the staff are all super helpful. The owner, Jess, and teacher, Brooklin, make the space very inviting and informative. It's a great environment to ask questions and be inquisitive about the process. Also, all the other potters who go there, whether members or students, are happy to share their knowledge with newcomers. I would recommend taking the "Bowl in One" class first for just $60 before committing to a whole month of classes. But I promise, once you start at Still Life, you won't ever want to stop.

My dear wife received a gift certificate to attend a cooking class at The Kitchen Classroom and…read moreasked if I would like to join her. Saying yes was a good decision. We had a lot of fun and made some really delicious food! The classroom space itself is large, with multiple prep areas, storage, and teaching table. There is a dining table that seated twelve (our class was 10.) You are greeted with water and the option to purchase beer or wine by the glass or bottle. After a quick walk through you form teams of three or four and set about preparing the entire menu (in other words, it is NOT one station prepping the main course while another group is limited to boiling pasta.) All the mis-en-place has been set out so all the measuring is already done, but the rest is hands on mixing, cooking, plating, etc. The instructor orally delivers instructions and walks around to catch anything going astray. The class was two hours long. Our menu was on the theme "Italian Classics." Items to be prepared were Chicken Piccata, Artichoke Bruschetta, Bucatini in Creamy Pecorino Sauce, and Chocolate Budino. I won't review the food -- it would be a review of our own cooking -- but I will say that preparing it was easy with guidance and tasted absolutely delicious! Each work group eats their own prepared food but at a communal table. The crew also boxes up anything extra that is left from your prep., like extra bruschetta topping or leftover pasta, to be divided up as each work group sees fit. And I didn't have to wash dishes! My wife is the chef in the family, I am never going to cook at her level. But this class was not beyond my abilities and made me completely at ease. Can't wait to go back for other classes here!
