The restaurant is small and can get crowded during lunch rush, so because everything is made fresh, the food might take a while to come out. The service was really friendly from everyone we spoke with. I usually get the spicy tuna inari, but they had a lunch special this day, so I took advantage of it! The inari is one of my favorite things to get, it's 5 pieces and they load the fish on! The Pa'ina Bento was so good! Everything has a lot of flavor without being over powering. If you like a poke bowl with lots of yummy topping options, this is the place for you. Their pickled garlic is delicious! They have seaweed salad, garlic chips, masago, pickled radish, avocado, etc. The fish itself is always really yummy also. I can't speak for their non-fish bowls since I've never had them. But my husband tried their kalua pig & said it was a little dry, not as good as Aloha Kitchen, but overall it was fine. Their mochi doughnuts are obviously fabulous, lol. It's what they're known for, and for good reason. I would say the service is fine. They're never rude, but they are also rarely warm and friendly. The wait time after placing an order can vary from 10-25 minutes, no matter how big or small your order is. All that said, I have been here many, many times & I always enjoy my food. Our go to is The Bento Box that has Garlic Chicken, Teriyaki Beef and Portuguese Sausage with Rice, Furikake and Daikon (Japanese Radish). It is a good combination. Also when we feel like having some Ahi Poke we get a side of 8oz Shoyu or Hawaiian Style Ahi Poke. I like that they have hot and ready Spam Musubi's available. The poke was a miss. They left the brown part of the salmon on which caused most of the fishiness, cut it sloppy, and barely seasoned it. All fixable problems, just not fixed here. Poke Express or Locals will do you way better. The chicken wasn't bad though. Crispiness held through the ride and had the classic sweet soy balance you'd find at most hawaiian/korean chicken shops. ​I have a friend who goes to Vegas just to eat Hawaiian food, and this was the spot we visited. I didn't realize how many Hawaiian places there are in Vegas. According to Google: ​"Las Vegas is known as the 'Ninth Island' of Hawaii because it hosts the second-largest population of Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders outside of Honolulu." ​I ordered the Nanea Salmon Poke Bowl and the Garlic Chicken Plate. I was hoping to try the fried saimin since the pictures online looked so good, but they had already run out for the day. It was only around 11:30 AM, so maybe they just hadn't restocked the noodles yet. ​The poke bowl comes with a choice of white or brown rice (we chose brown), and features shoyu ginger salmon poke drizzled with a lemon citrus aioli, topped with red onions, radish sprouts, masago, and shredded nori. The bowl had a hefty amount of poke; they definitely didn't skimp! It was quite tasty. ​The garlic chicken plate comes with deep-fried chicken dipped in a garlic shoyu sauce. It's served with two scoops of white or brown rice (we chose brown again, because... healthier, I guess?) and a scoop of potato salad. The chicken was very flavorful and had a great umami taste. It pairs well with the rice, although two scoops were a bit much for me. The bento consisted of three classic Hawaiian meats (Portuguese sausage, teriyaki beef, and fried chicken) over furikake rice. It's delicious but definitely meat-forward. The bowls were quite interesting. For instance, the Kalua pig doesn't have any cabbage - it's just pork. Additionally, I've never been to a place that would mix poke and meat in the same bowl, but it is delicious. It's a great way to get all your favorites in one meal. The poke is not quite on par with the best stuff I've had, but it would definitely satisfy a poke craving. One of my great friends sent me a post by David Fisher ( @daviddayanfisher ) where he explained a simple yet challenging truth, "Do not tolerate anyone's inability to regulate." I listened to it at least three times. He goes on to explain we attract reflections of ourselves. If we are dysregulated inside the outside world will reflect that chaos. Our partners, friends, family will match this reality we create for ourselves. If we desire a change in our life, a lasting change, we must regulate ourselves first. Once that occurs anything externally dysregulated will become incompatible with our reality. In a way we are always either killing or healing ourselves. That's why I stress looking in mirror as much as I do. These lessons have helped refocus my therapy sessions on the root cause of my long standing problems. I have a part to play in the toxicity I attract, the toxicity I allow around me, and the toxicity I have a part in creating. I manifest it. I took down an Inari Bento and Musubi as appetizers, a Half Salmon / Half Tuna Kewalo Bowl, ( teri glaze blend with shredded nori on the rice. Shoyu ahi poke topped with wasabi mayo drizzle, pickled red onions, masago and radish sprouts ) and I couldn't leave without dessert a Tara Milk Mochi Donut. Everything looked so good I had decision paralysis so I let the legend behind the counter pick it all out for me. This place was amazing, and the bowl was the perfect complement for a pre-pool party day. The Inari was the best I've had so far, and I'd go back for that alone. Did this feast solve all my problems? This was my first time trying mochi doughnuts. I don't know what's taken me so long, considering how many people have raved about them. I tried each flavor and they were not overly sweet or heavy. The glazes were all subtle, their respective flavors were light. All the doughnuts were not super chewy and I liked them all, but the cookies and cream stood out the most.
