We decided to hit a pizza place on the way home from Portland. It took almost an hour but to be fair the worker did tell me this ahead of time. It would have been cool if they had a game room or something to kill the time. Overall the pizza was ok. Certainly not gourmet by any means. We had the bendito since i love taco pizza. The other half of our party had pepperoni and Hawaiian. The crust is very thin which some of us liked. My daughter also loved the mini pepperonis they used. Horrible customer service. Employees rude and sarcastic. We ordered one pizza and the three orders placed after ours were prepared and delivered before we got our order. One order was a large group with several pizzas and that party arrived at least fifteen minutes after we had already placed our order. All of these orders were placed at the counter and were not phoned in. The employees offered no apologies and one employee stated there was no order in which pizzas were prepared. So I guess if she had a doctor appointment and three patients who had appointments after her were seen before her she'd be okay with that. Another couple we sat next to said they wouldn't be back either. Expensive and just okay pizza, so not worth it when you add crappy service. Won't ever go back. read more

Best pizza in town! Came in today at 6pm to pick up an order and the gentleman helping me was super nice and had 5 star customer service! I think he was a manager, he was wearing a black shirt and glasses. The place was packed per usual.....because it's that good. I realized I forgot to order a second pizza, so he put a rush on it since I already waited a while for the first one...totally my fault, but he didn't want make me wait another hour. He did all this while multitasking the non stop phone ringing and ALL the other orders. I've been coming here for years and appreciate great customer service in a town that lacks it sometimes. Best crust ever. Factory style order, beverage service and pick up (DYI). Usually impeccable. My family knows the names of people there and their pie names (ie Humdinger) so often do we lunch there. Not last time. Our order (6 lunch pies) failed to meet expectation. I will be back and speak with management if needed. Problem is, when all received our meals two were not as ordered. I love their thin crispy cracker-like crust. Could use a bit more toppings. Kinda pricey. But they use Real Cheese. Stringy yummy tastes like and is real cheese. I've only been here once. Had a line to order and had to wait for a table to open up. Had a nice warm fireplace. The decor is out of a old western movie saloon. Kinda cool. I've been to Donatellos down the road. Just picked up a large order of lunch pizzas for our office. After years of going to Pine St, decided to give the South location a try. Was hoping there would be a difference after having a very poor customer service experience at the Pine St location. From the time I placed the order on the phone, to picking the pizzas up at the counter, to coming back and eating them, I could not have asked for a better experience with their customer service or pizzas! I waited and waited not wanting to write a bad review but too many times too many problems. First of all I love this pizza. Can't find much like it in Portland. However, too many bad customer service issues and I don't think I will ever go there again. 1. Only 1 phone line, trying to place an order to go during lunch and it can take over an hour to get through. People give up and have to go wait in line to order to go and have to wait there. 2. I called about 1.5 month ago, they asked to put me on hold. I agreed and kept working. I checked periodically but then I forgot I was on hold (I put in on speaker). I was on hold for 42 MINUTES!!! I didn't want to lose my spot in line but I hung up. I called right back and guess what? BUSY SIGNAL!!!!! 3. I called today (Monday) and 11:50am and got through right away! I ordered 2 personal pizzas and was told "30 minutes". I was there at 12:30pm to pick up the pizzas but they were scheduled for 1:20pm, Someone got confused and added an extra hour to my wait time!!!!. I had to sit there and wait again. Again I love this pizza, but for now I will not be going back again. EVER. I didn't want to write this review, but I am pissed. When in person, the staff is quite nice. But can't handle the lack of customer service. Especially working in the service industry to 5 years. read more

I'm not a fan. The pizza was alright but the mushrooms were the canned kind and the whole thing tasted nuked not baked. The crust is paper thin which is fine, and the toppings were just piled on which was alright. It just had so much that nothing got super hot. When I enter the place, I always feel like I'm cattle, and being herded around and force fed. Basically, the atomosphere and staff always seem hurried and non-attentive. But the pizzas are very good. When I discuss Padingtons with people I know, either they love them or hate them...and no in between. Prices are WAY TOO HIGH...but sometimes its worth it. We visited this Salem staple on a Friday night. The restaurant was only at 2/3 capacity and it took them 45 minutes to bring us our meal. When our ''pizza'' arrived, no plates or sliverware accompanied it. Never fear however, what the pie lacked in flavor it made up for in undercooked ingredients. As far as we can tell they can only make then bake 1 pizza at a time. It's about every 10 or 15 minutes between the calling of order numbers. The pizza is spendy. Shared a medium pizza for around $17. Not the most bang for your buck. You have to pay for drinks separately from the pizza which can be a hassle to have multiple charges unnecessarily. However drinks come in frosted glasses which makes the experience more enjoyable. The place isn't anything special inside, the decor is old and outdated, but if you're a true Salemite than you can truly appreciate the pizza because its something you grew up eating. This is similar to other restaurants in Salem such as Bobs Burgers or Lum-Yuens. Their pizza has always been true to the original recipe and hasn't changed, which is how my entire family likes it. First time eating here. It was recommended by my boyfriend's coworker and I'm glad he did. Don't know if we were there on an off day but it was 12:30 in the afternoon on a Thursday and there was only about 15 people there. I loved the atmosphere for some reason I found it extremely relaxing. Staff was friendly and helpful. The down side for some people would be the crust is thin and some people don't like that thin crust. Being our first time we weren't aware of it and they didn't tell us which I believe they should tell everybody or put up a sign that says Home of thin crust pizza or something like that and put it where it can be seen while ordering. The soda came in a frosted mug at $1.00 each which I really enjoyed. We didn't like the napkins they were small and one or two wipes they were done. There was only two of us and when we left I swear we must have had 20 used napkins on the table. They might save some money in the long run if the switch to a bigger and better quality napkins people wouldn't use so many then. The place was clean which is a must for me in a restaurant, unknown about the restrooms. The carpet is wrinkled which I think is a trip hazard and the tables are worn. It needs a face lift. In spite of these minor things we will be returning because the pizza was great. read more

Tried to order pizza via telephone via yelp. Yelp has the numbers and locations mixed up... learned this the hard way. When we went to pick up our pizza (at the location we thought we ordered from) the girl at the front just turned us away with the "good luck" attitude. And told us that "yah yelp has the numbers mixed up and there's nothing we can do." They could have at the very least made us the pizza we ordered... So we left and called the other location to say we called the wrong location via yelp and they were also resistant to help. All we wanted was a pizza...ha So we took our business to New York Style Pizza. Way better service, no hour long wait times and delicious pies. Honestly, I would give no stars if it gave me the option due to this experience. I usually love padingtons, but today's experience was horrible and just plain rude. My coworker rushed to get her and I a pizza on lunch, she barely got back in time and we opened up the pizza to realize it was a large pizza packed with meat when we ordered a small cheese. Both upset and no time to drive back, we called to see if there were any options, maybe swapping out when we are off or something. The self claimed "manager" was not even the littlest bit of empathetic. He literally said that it wasn't his problem because she walked out with a large when she ordered a small. Even though she was rushing to get back to the call center. He said and I quote "it doesn't make sense business wise for me to help with a small pizza when you walked out with a large" even after explaining many times that we are vegetarian. She asked him if it made sense "business wise" to not take care of the customer and rather have a bad word put out about the service and experience and he literally said "do what you gotta do."
