My son's soccer team came here for their end of season celebration, and wow! Was this place under whelming! The menus are, from what I saw, only posted on the counter, which means you can basically only see it when it's your turn to order. There are only pizza options. There's no breadsticks or salad bar or anything else if someone is your party is just not feeling in a pizza mood. The prices are ridiculous, $23 for a medium? Yikes. The next awesome thing is paying. You see, you have to purchase pizza separate from the drinks. So instead of one card transaction, you get two. The weird thing is the beverage side uses the same POS that the pizza side does. The wait was about 25 minutes. They have no regular plates and the paper plates weren't clearly marked, so we used napkins. The pizza was ok. I liked the crust, my kids cheese side was ok flavored and they used a generous amount of cheese. The bbq chicken side had this weird chicken that tasted like it was cooked in the crockpot, and the sauce under the weird goopy mess was regular pizza sauce. I would have much rather spent my money on Donatello's down the road and at least my kid would have had a place to blow off steam. Best crust ever. Factory style order, beverage service and pick up (DYI). Usually impeccable. My family knows the names of people there and their pie names (ie Humdinger) so often do we lunch there. Not last time. Our order (6 lunch pies) failed to meet expectation. I will be back and speak with management if needed. Problem is, when all received our meals two were not as ordered. I remember when Paddington's was THE pizza place. Something has changed. We went on a Friday evening and ordered the Humdinger, then went to the bar to get soft drinks. The bartender was nowhere to be seen. We waited probably 15 minutes and there were people waiting behind us as well. No one showed up or asked us what we wanted or explained anything. Finally, the bartender, who was in the bathroom, came back and acted as if we had bothered her by wanting something to drink. No apologies for our wait time, not even a smiley attitude. Not impressed. We sat down and waited about 15-20 minutes for our pizza before going to the counter and asking if we might have missed hearing our number being called. It was just then being put in the oven. Maybe 15 minutes later our number was called and we got our pizza. The toppings would slide off as we tried to eat and the crust was very hard and brittle. Not what we expected from Paddingtons. When we were done I went to the cashier to get a small box. The manager was at the register as I walked up. He turned and walked away without looking up to see if there was anyone at the counter and I had to wait for another 5-10 minutes for someone to help me. It's obvious the management doesn't want to be there and it seems like the recipe has changed from the original crust. Not what we expected. I don't see much reason to return. read more

We decided to hit a pizza place on the way home from Portland. It took almost an hour but to be fair the worker did tell me this ahead of time. It would have been cool if they had a game room or something to kill the time. Overall the pizza was ok. Certainly not gourmet by any means. We had the bendito since i love taco pizza. The other half of our party had pepperoni and Hawaiian. The crust is very thin which some of us liked. My daughter also loved the mini pepperonis they used. Unfortunate that this place used to be so great. I've been going here for at least 20 years and it was always the best tasting pizza around. The problem is over the last few years the customer service and time to get your food has become terrible. Today was the most recent issue. Less than 10 people in the entire restaurant and we waited over 50 min for one small pizza. Also watched a guy wait at the drink bar for 10 min for someone to come over and help him. All the while workers standing around chatting. Great food does not make up for bad service sorry. Hopefully they can figure it out. Horrible customer service. Employees rude and sarcastic. We ordered one pizza and the three orders placed after ours were prepared and delivered before we got our order. One order was a large group with several pizzas and that party arrived at least fifteen minutes after we had already placed our order. All of these orders were placed at the counter and were not phoned in. The employees offered no apologies and one employee stated there was no order in which pizzas were prepared. So I guess if she had a doctor appointment and three patients who had appointments after her were seen before her she'd be okay with that. Another couple we sat next to said they wouldn't be back either. Expensive and just okay pizza, so not worth it when you add crappy service. Won't ever go back. read more

Best pizza in town! Came in today at 6pm to pick up an order and the gentleman helping me was super nice and had 5 star customer service! I think he was a manager, he was wearing a black shirt and glasses. The place was packed per usual.....because it's that good. I realized I forgot to order a second pizza, so he put a rush on it since I already waited a while for the first one...totally my fault, but he didn't want make me wait another hour. He did all this while multitasking the non stop phone ringing and ALL the other orders. I've been coming here for years and appreciate great customer service in a town that lacks it sometimes. I waited and waited not wanting to write a bad review but too many times too many problems. First of all I love this pizza. Can't find much like it in Portland. However, too many bad customer service issues and I don't think I will ever go there again. 1. Only 1 phone line, trying to place an order to go during lunch and it can take over an hour to get through. People give up and have to go wait in line to order to go and have to wait there. 2. I called about 1.5 month ago, they asked to put me on hold. I agreed and kept working. I checked periodically but then I forgot I was on hold (I put in on speaker). I was on hold for 42 MINUTES!!! I didn't want to lose my spot in line but I hung up. I called right back and guess what? BUSY SIGNAL!!!!! 3. I called today (Monday) and 11:50am and got through right away! I ordered 2 personal pizzas and was told "30 minutes". I was there at 12:30pm to pick up the pizzas but they were scheduled for 1:20pm, Someone got confused and added an extra hour to my wait time!!!!. I had to sit there and wait again. Again I love this pizza, but for now I will not be going back again. EVER. I didn't want to write this review, but I am pissed. When in person, the staff is quite nice. I love their thin crispy cracker-like crust. Could use a bit more toppings. Kinda pricey. But they use Real Cheese. Stringy yummy tastes like and is real cheese. I've only been here once. Had a line to order and had to wait for a table to open up. Had a nice warm fireplace. The decor is out of a old western movie saloon. Kinda cool. I've been to Donatellos down the road. Just picked up a large order of lunch pizzas for our office. After years of going to Pine St, decided to give the South location a try. Was hoping there would be a difference after having a very poor customer service experience at the Pine St location. From the time I placed the order on the phone, to picking the pizzas up at the counter, to coming back and eating them, I could not have asked for a better experience with their customer service or pizzas! I'm not a fan. The pizza was alright but the mushrooms were the canned kind and the whole thing tasted nuked not baked. The crust is paper thin which is fine, and the toppings were just piled on which was alright. It just had so much that nothing got super hot. When I enter the place, I always feel like I'm cattle, and being herded around and force fed. Basically, the atomosphere and staff always seem hurried and non-attentive. But the pizzas are very good. When I discuss Padingtons with people I know, either they love them or hate them...and no in between. Prices are WAY TOO HIGH...but sometimes its worth it. We visited this Salem staple on a Friday night. The restaurant was only at 2/3 capacity and it took them 45 minutes to bring us our meal. When our ''pizza'' arrived, no plates or sliverware accompanied it. Never fear however, what the pie lacked in flavor it made up for in undercooked ingredients. Suffice it to say the entire experience left us feeling rather underwhelmed. On the upside, they were showing the original Tron on the flat screen which really helped to keep me distracted and drown out my complaints. We are at paddingtons pizza right now, it's been 50 minutes since we ordered and we don't have much hope of having our food before another half hour passes. As far as we can tell they can only make then bake 1 pizza at a time. It's about every 10 or 15 minutes between the calling of order numbers. The pizza is spendy. Shared a medium pizza for around $17. Not the most bang for your buck. You have to pay for drinks separately from the pizza which can be a hassle to have multiple charges unnecessarily. However drinks come in frosted glasses which makes the experience more enjoyable. The pizza was delicious and I did enjoy the curled up pepperonis. Also the dim lighting and western style furniture made for an enjoyable date night. read more
