I tried to call and get in touch with someone there to find a time to set up a meeting with a personal trainer. I was very excited and ready to start my powerlifting journey, and after seeing these positive reviews I thought this would be the place to do so. I called. Someone answered the phone, I didn't get his name, but he was chewing loudly in my ear the whole duration of the conversation. I asked for one of the owners/managing trainers and he said that no one was available. When I said I could call back later he told me "You don't need to." I hate to leave a bad review, especially considering it's my first review ever, but I'm quite fed up with not being taken seriously by gym owners, staff, and trainers. This was an incredibly disappointing experience.

I have had my eye on this place for a while as I travel pretty often to the Minneapolis area and have been looking for a gym just like this. Minneapolis has so many Anytime Fitness and Planet Fitness, which are not bad establishments, just not a place that fits my workout personality (i.e. "lunk alarms", no real heavy lifting and dumbbells that stop at 50#). Southside definitely provides the atmosphere to focus on your strength and lifting goals. Loved the gritty atmosphere of "go in and get it done, no excuses". The main gym is awesome and has a ton of speciality bars, racks, DBs that go up to 150 and platforms specifically for oly lifting only plus other platforms for powerlifting. I came in around 3-4:30 and was one of the only there...so no issue whatsoever of having the run of the place. Honestly I wish that there was a place like this in Omaha. Will back for sure next time here.

I was having a bad day at work earlier this week but went to class and was reminded why I continue to love Major Body Fitness. It is the people & because I have fun every time! It seems like Melissa & Chloe's (owner/instructors) purpose is to make every single one of us in class laugh, smile, & let loose each time! I feel re-energized, more centered, powerful, & feminine every single time. I also usually feel sore the next couple days which means I'm workin it. You'll learn a lot about different exercise moves, stretching, & even some dance moves. I honestly doubted I would ever be able to twerk but one day I shocked myself (& Melissa lol) by finally learning how & if I can, then it's within reach for everyone! About the New Space: Major Body is no longer in its stand-alone studio. All classes now take place at the Oxford Community Center. This means the instructors spend less time on building maintenance & more time in designing our classes. The building has a free and open parking lot & locker rooms that we are able to use. Note that there aren't single stall showers tho and are instead like middle school where there's a bunch of spouts in one room. The class is on the second floor. You don't need to sign in at the front desk, just go up the stairs on your right when u enter & follow the music and flashing lights. To get in the locker room, just tell the front desk ur with Major Body & they'll buzz u through the doors. Go to Major Body's website for the latest class schedule. Right now the classes are weightlifting (Major Power) on Mondays, Major Bounce on Wednesdays with a follow-up class that differs from week to week, & strength-building at 10am on Saturdays. It's super easy to sign up for class online. You can pay for classes in a bundle online too which is a better deal than paying for a single class. You should also follow Major Body on Facebook & Insta. This will be your best bet in knowing about any free classes or special events they offer once in a while. The instructors still love what they do & that feeling is infectious. If you're looking for motivation to workout while loving your body & having fun, you've got to try these classes out! Took the BUTI Yoga class and man was it a great work out. I'll be honest, it was intense,…read moreexhausting, and I was watching the clock the entire time. However, when it was done I had a jolt of energy. The class fused dancing (like Zumba) to Caribbean, Latin, Hip Hop and Dance music, with yoga stretches, and moves like planks and pushup to build muscle. While it may seem like a lot (to some), it all came together well and with the intense dancing, the other moves provided a bit of rest...while still working out. The instructor, who had lots of energy, had us kicking high, whining our waist, jumping...and for some of us nearly crying (feeling the burn). It was a fun, impactful class and a lovely studio that I would DEFINITELY recommend. A few things to note: -there is a parking lot attached -bring your own yoga mat, but if you forget there are rentals -bring your own water bottle...already filled as there's no drinking fountain, but they sell water -there isn't a locker room (or I didn't notice one), but if you need to change there is a bathroom -come with a positive attitude as it really help(ed) make the experience that much better -they also offer spin class (and other workouts) which I heard is fun

You can show up and work out for only $2.50 a visit (technically, it's $3 for non-residents, but they didn't check). There is a gym, fitness room, aerobics/dance room, and meeting rooms. The City of Chanhassen offers personal training and fitness classes too. The locker rooms and showers are basic, but new and clean. It's a small facility, tucked into the east side of Bluff Creek Elementary School, so it's not glamorous. No rows of flat screen tvs or monitors and MP3 connections on every treadmill. All the cardio and weight training equipment is located in one room, but the machines are new and well maintained. It seems pretty quiet in the evenings, so their having only 3 treadmills shouldn't be a problem. There are also several ellipticals and stationary bikes, a rowing machine and what looked like a very complete weight lifting circuit. Sure, the Eden Prairie Community Center, the YMCA or the numerous private fitness clubs are larger and have more amenities. But they're also crowded, pricey and usually want a commitment of variable duration. For $2.50 (or even $3) a visit, this is the best deal I've found.

C4 has month to month unlimited packages and 5 or 10 class packages. The price is SO reasonable, and you can try the gym for free for a week. The community is welcoming from the very first day, and Mollie is available to answer all of your questions. I ended up going to the gym 3-4 times a week and tried classes ranging from boot camp to yoga. Prior to C4, I had stopped lifting and was out of shape, but the C4 instructors are ready to help all skill ranges and ages. I consistently had my form corrected and was encouraged to push myself throughout each class. I would stay with C4 forever if I wasn't moving! If you want a variety of fun workouts mixing cardio and strength training, a supportive community, and excellent trainers, you need to try C4. All the hopes, ideas, and community conversations that have built up over the years have finally taken shape in this new, loving, and accessible space. The gym was created with community, inclusion, and opportunity at its core. There are showers available, plenty of parking, and, as an avid gym goer, trainer, and bodybuilder, I can say that the fitness machines and classes are freaking impressive for anyone looking to do more than climb (best fitness equipment I've ever seen at a climbing gym). The team is wonderful and feels like a natural extension of the community that was built in Minneapolis & BP Community. More photos to come, but I really do encourage you to check out the space yourself and fall in love with the same community that I have. As someone who has climbed at both gyms since before day one, I'm excited to see where things go next. I will update in a few months!

I go twice a week at about 6 or 7am to play basketball with some friends, and it's always quiet enough for us to utilize the space. It's included in our normal UMN gym membership. Not sure of all the amenities that it has, but it does have a workout room, a basketball court, and some cardio equipment. Parking is tough if you don't have a pass, but there is a one hour street parking area near the tennis courts if you wanted to use that. Staff are friendly, and it's on one of the north most areas on campus. I'd definitely recommend going at least once, because it is way less busy than the twin cities campus gym. It's also very clean and easy to find!

It might not have the shine, bustling energy, or sheer size of Minneapolis's flagship Rec Center--one swimming pool instead of three, a handful of exercise machines versus fleets, no cafe or fireplace lounge in the lobby--but SPG manages to pack several gyms and activity rooms, indoor track, weight room, 8-lane lap pool, a few racquetball and squash courts, and a two-story climbing wall into one tidy building that befits its more pastoral surroundings. Outdoor fields, tennis courts, and free neighborhood street parking are all adjacent. Friendly staff and low traffic keep the facility pretty clean and quiet, although community programs such as youth swim lessons can clog the works during certain times of day. If you are a UMN affiliate wondering what a quiet gym feels like, hop a Connector out to St. Paul!
