Yess Yoga - Yoga Near Me - Minneapolis, Minnesota

The space is very inviting. The practice rooms are large, open spaces and props are available for everyone to use. I have only attended workshops at Yess, so I'm not as familiar with their regularly scheduled classes and instructors. Based on my experiences there, I would imagine they are equally restorative and/or strengthening. Parking can be a little tricky, depending on when you go given the proximity to MCAD. read more

This is such a lovely, safe, and welcoming space. I tried the 10$ unlimited classes for a week and truly enjoyed all of the teachers. The yin yoga classes were wonderful and left me feeling so calm after. The space is also extremely open and has tons of beautiful plants. I'm looking forward to joining more classes with their affordable rates and online/in person classes. read more

I am visiting from california, and I tried different classes during my stay. The studio is incredibly amazing, exuding positive energy. The teachers are very friendly and, impressively, also the fellow yoginis. Some classes run more than an hour, which is great, since an hour class seemed too short for a real practice. For regular maintenance to keep in shape (vinyasa/relaxation), I would say ¡yes! to Yess yoga any days. read more

Having taken yoga classes in a dozen different countries, and across the United States, it takes a lot to impress me in terms of a yoga studio. However, this place is one of the most beautiful aesthetically (hardwood floors, window walls, plants and greenery, etc) and energy wise. The staff is friendly and nice and it seems that the community is authentic and strong. Overall this place has a Portland OR vibe and I will definitely be coming back again! read more

Best place in the Twin Cities for curvy yoga. Elizabeth Pletcher is a master who has trained pretty much anyone you know who is curvy yoga certified in the region. read more

I really can't say enough good things about this studio and the lovely humans inside of it. I suffer from scoliosis and my mobility is not the greatest. Liz, found special blocks that helped accommodate bodies like mine that are not as flexible. The teachers are knowledgeable and offer classes that celebrate all the different bodies and levels of experience. Not only did I learn so much about my body but I was welcomed into their community with loving arms. Lucia has created the most incredible, safe space filled with plants and life. I will be very sad to be moving and I'm grateful for the healing i have done there. I would highly recommend. They have really great deals on packages that are affordable. The energy there is divine. Thank you read more

Checked out this gem of a studio yesterday. Alicia was an amazing instructor! One of the best yoga sessions iv has in awhile. She's very softly spoken and great at what she does! The environment is calming and welcoming. They provide you with mats and blocks. I will be back, for sure! read more

After neglecting myself and yoga I finally checked out Yess today. Perusin their website I saw $10 for 10 days...wait....whattt? Less commitment/$ than your traditional $30/30. Sold. Lucia owns and runs the studio and she is very welcoming and kind. All classes are vinyasa and great for all levels. She's encouraging and helpful - making suggestions and adjustments as necessary. The class is chill and the occasional music from Lil' T's just adds to your flow. It's conveniently located in Whittier and with 3 classes on most days there's a time slot for everyone. I'm so happy I took the time to check out this studio and absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a nice yoga fix. Namaste. read more

I want to start this review by saying that Yess Yoga has allowed me to experience the best yoga classes I've ever taken. As a whole, teachers at Yess Yoga are thoughtful in the way they teach their classes, they challenge students to reach new levels with our minds and bodies, and they foster an environment of love for self, others, and the world. Lucia's vinyasa classes, Victoria's vinyasa and ashtanga classes, and Marnie's restorative yoga are the highlights of my week every week. Their workshops are also amazing, namely Jessa's Moon Medicine class. I do need to mention this: the quality of teachers really varies. There are two instructors there in particular who have, by contrast, taught the worst classes I've been to. They were disorganized and seemed to be made up on the spot. Additionally, one teacher never even has the class go through a vinyasa flow in her vinyasa class. It feels like a total waste of money and time when I attend her classes. While these teachers only hold a few slots during the week, I can imagine someone attending these classes for the first time and being totally turned off to the studio as a whole. I'd at least recommend changing the name of some of the classes that these other teachers teach. It's misleading that Victoria, Lucia, and some of the other instructors teach totally life changing vinyasa classes, and these other teachers are teaching classes under the same name ("vinyasa") and they are a complete mess. I don't write this review to be overly negative, but I hope it spurs on the teachers to have an honest discussion about quality control. I truly feel like I need to write two seperate reviews for this studio: one boasting that it's truly an oasis for mind, body, and spirit and should be a hub of the community, and the other saying that I wasted 15 bucks on these teachers that are giving the studio a bad name. Please check out Yess Yoga, particularly classes with the teachers I mentioned, and if you attend a class that feels like a complete waste, just know that it may just be the teacher. read more

My goodness, where to start describing the loveliness that is Yess yoga? 1. Lucia = awesome. A fabulously laid-back instructor with the most gentle, loving teaching style. I don't know how she does it, but every class is different, and somehow works for people with all kinds of fitness levels. 2. The location = so convenient. I thought street parking would be a hassle but honestly I've never had trouble finding a spot. Love, love, love how close the studio is to takeout spots and restaurants so grabbing a bite after class is super easy. 3. The studio = pristine. No frills, but really, do you need frills in a yoga studio? Yess is sunny, warm and filled with plants, i.e. pretty much perfect. 4. The cost = so reasonable. I discovered Yess via Groupon, and was pleasantly surprised to see how reasonable the classes were after my month-long pass ran out. 5. Class schedule = really great. With four to five classes a day, all at the same set time, it's easy to plan my visits. I love not having to consult a complicated calendar! I could go on, but I've got to get to class! :-) read more

I have been to as many yoga locations as are available in Minneapolis so I have a good idea about what the quality is. Just to be clear I'm not disparaging any of those excellent havens of oneness :) I'm just here to talk about my experience of mindful bliss at Yess Yoga. Lucia is a fantastic instructor, there is humor and light during the class. I've had such good experiences every time I've been there. If you're looking for a place to practice mindfulness without too many frills or fuss this is the location for you! read more

Yess Yoga has a nice, no-frills, one-room studio with a bamboo floor and a gorgeous tin ceiling I found useful for finding a drishti. There is no mirror in this studio, which I initially thought I would dislike. I found the lack of mirror, a bit calming, however, as it allowed me to concentrate on how I was feeling in each each pose versus how it looked. The studio was pretty packed, but not crowded, on a Friday evening with male and female 20-30 somethings probably unwinding from a week at work. The class I attended was taught by Lucia, who teaches on Monday, Tuesday Friday, and Saturdays. Her vinyasa flow was unique and interesting. I didn't get bored and it felt very balanced. My whole body got a stretch and workout without feeling like one area was overworked. She took requests at the beginning of class and provided a lot of assists throughout the class to get me deeper into a pose. I liked this personal attention to the class. It has the feeling of a community yoga studio. read more

I had known about the Saturday donation class at Yess for far too long and finally decided to check it out, and I'm so glad that I did! I felt a little bit intimidated at first, but everyone was so friendly and Rachel, the instructor, was very helpful. She talked us through the different poses and provided modifications for different skill levels. The studio is very nice, clean, and comfortable. It's in a great location, and there is plenty of street parking nearby. I'm looking forward to going back. read more

Yess Yoga is my new home away from home! I walked into this studio and instantly felt welcome and at home. The teachers are all wonderful and make a point of getting to know you and making you feel welcome and noticed. And all the students are friendly and welcoming as well; it's such a great little community! They offer primarily Vinyasa classes (my favorite!), as well as a few others including Yin, Restorative, Hatha, and occasional workshops as well, which I have unfortunately not been able to attend. There's definitely something for everyone here. The space is amazing as well. The studio is conveniently located just off of Eat Street, and has large windows that let in sunshine, and many lovely green plants around the studio, which is especially nice to see in the winter months! They also have all the props one might need: blocks, bolsters, mats and straps. Prices are pretty reasonable, too. $15 to drop in or $99 for a month of unlimited, which is definitely worth it, especially when you get addicted and want to go to class everyday! And no matter your schedule, if you're a 9-5er or a service industry worker on the night shift, there's classes for everyone. There are 10am, noon, 4:30pm, 6pm, and 7:30pm almost every day of the week. I can't say enough good things about what yoga in general has done to improve my life, and Yess Yoga in particular has had a huge positive impact. read more

Lovely class and fun instructor. Had good feel and lots of modifications! $10 to try for a week is a great deal too.

I've practiced yoga for almost a decade and have been practicing here for two months. I must say, Lucia has cultivated quite the entourage. Class options are available for people of all interests and abilities. Wether you are sweating your ass off moving with each breath or finding stillness for the hour, all instructors consistently integrate a truly balanced philosophy of self knowledge and understanding within your body and your mind. Yess Yoga is the most intimate yoga experience I've found. Lucia does a fantastic job of tailoring each class to the students by asking for range of motion and pace preferences before beginning. I can't say enough wonderful things about Yess Yoga- I've practiced here for over a year since moving to Minneapolis, and not only has my practice deepened, but also my connections in the Whittier community. Weekly classes are offered at a variety of times, and workshops on select weekends give opportunities to focus on pranayama, inversions, building a home practice, etc. All the instructors are warm, genuine, down-to-earth, and truly take the time to get to know the students in class. read more

Lucia Yess is an warm, intuitive and encouraging leader. She tailors each practice to those present, teaching easier and more challenging modifications throughout each class. I have been able to have fun, learn new poses and expand my practice exponentially since I started attending classes at Yess Yoga. Additionally, the studio is very community-oriented. Yess Yoga is always finding ways to improve itself and support and improve its surrounding community. What can I say? this studio is absolutely amazing! I found out about Yess yoga by looking through my new Chinook Book. What a find!!...The owner is super welcoming, and a gifted instructor. She offers many opportunities to add intentions to your practice; the one that she offered that is going to stick with me from today is to be kind to myself. Other perks- a nice music selection, a sparkling clean studio, and lots of easy free parking nearby. I left work stressed, and after just an hour at Yess I now feel fabulous! read more

I love Yess Yoga! Where do I start? The studio is full of great positive energy that generates from the owner, Lucia. She is warm, friendly, and welcoming. It feels like a real yoga community , not just a clinical class. Also I don't feel intimidated that I am new in my yoga practice. Lucia is great at supporting all levels through her encouragement and offering a variety of adjustments, both challenging and gentle. I like that she keeps her classes reasonably priced and does not charge extra for a spare mat, blankets or bolsters. If you live or work in South Minneapolis, stop by! read more
