There is a standard promotional offers, I tried this for a month to give it some thought because it really didn't fit with my lifestyle. However, if you suspend service, rather than cancel it it automatically renews. The company doesn't even give you a warning when this occurs. I notified them not even one day after they charge my card $150 for the renewal fee. I would NOT recommend them. read more

Corepower has its faults (overpriced merchandise, some bad teachers) but my experience there has been overwhelmingly positive at the downtown and Uptown studios. The important thing is to find a few instructors that give you the yoga experience you want. Honestly, some of the instructors will play hip hop music during class... I usually prefer more traditional ambient music when I'm in downward dog and there are plenty of teachers that offer that too. I would take advantage of the one-week free trial and try EVERYTHING you can fit into the week so you get to know which teachers you like (I love Jen, Nora and John, if you need a starting point). I can only speak for the C2 classes (hot, intermediate/advanced) because I haven't tried the others yet but I like the style and the heat. It's not much more expensive than Bikram, if at all, and it's less repetitive. Even though Corepower is corporate and a lot of the classes are full of intimidatingly good-looking people, I think it is a welcoming place to practice. read more

The 90 Minute Hot Yoga 105 degrees @ 6pm everynight, is awesome. Many of the other corepowers do not offer the 90 minute hot yoga. The Hot Yoga Instructors here are fantastic, too. Being guided by Patrick and Emilia in the 90 minute Hot Yoga is an amazing experience.. So for that this yoga studio is great. The rest of the other yoga classes, however, I did not care for...mostly because it's overcrowded, to a point of being stressed out I'm here to yoga to be de-stressed! Locker room, showers are adequate. Parking is actually good for a downtown location...they have a lot where you pay only $1...nice. Except, that's only good when there are no events. If there is a Vikings or Twins game going on, it changes to Event parking, which is over $20. What's up with that? read more

I recently finished up my free week-long trial and I already miss it. I'm genuinely interested in getting a membership so I can continue to practice. Background info- I've never done yoga before, I hardly ever workout, and I don't have the healthiest diet. I went into this wanting some sort of change, but wasn't quite ready to commit to a gym. I thought yoga would be a great starting point in my quest to get fit and boiiiiiii- it sure was. I started with C1 classes which was recommended. The class itself isn't structured where the instructor will announce and demonstrate every single move (some, but not all), but they verbally guide you throughout your practice and will offer adjustments to your poses if you're comfortable with it. On that note- the staff here are all fantastic. They're all super friendly and always have a smile on their face. They explain the steps very clearly and offer a lot of help. I'm a complete noob and yes, my first class was a little hard the first time around, but I felt SO good by the end of every session. By my second session, I was already in the swing of things so don't be intimidated if it's your first time. You'll be totally fine. I'm not sure if it's a standard for other yoga sessions, but I really enjoyed the warmer rooms that we practiced in. The heat was enough so you can both comfortably enjoy it yet was also hot enough that you'll catch yourself sweating as if you had finished a 10 mile run. Definitely a great workout. My only suggestion is that in the locker rooms, they could use some vanilla (or whatever) incense or oils to keep it smelling fresh. Parking is generally pretty easy, but I think it's pay parking both lot-wise and street, so keep that in mind as well. Overall, great experience so far and hopefully I'll be back soon! read more

I'm not very happy that this location requires proof of the covid vaccine, even though there's no vaccine mandates currently. I might try the other locations that don't require it but I most likely won't purchase more classes or renew my membership. read more

My experience with yoga prior to trying Core Power was minimal. I'd taken a few free classes at the U of M and enjoyed those, and I'd worked out with yoga DVDs at home. I loved the locker room. If you forget deodorant, or you want to blow dry your hair, or you're in the mood to gank some tampons, you will be in luck. It's tastefully decorated and hardly smells like sweat at all. The parking is also cheap. If you use the lot next door, it's only a buck for yoga students. Staff advised me that if I just left a yoga calendar on my dash that would be enough supporting evidence for whoever's checking. The merchandise in the lobby struck me as overpriced and made busy times seem even more crowded. I had to rent a mat because a friend promised to give me one and didn't. Try your best to get one on your own somehow because the ones available for rent smell rancid. They smell like the sweat of a hundred butts. During the classes, I didn't feel like I received much individual attention. Maybe the instructors looked at me or whatever, but I didn't get any help with poses. I only went for the free trial week (seven days in a row, I should add), and I'm thinking about trying different times, different instructors, when I get my own mat. read more

Walked in there to ask how the yoga world was in Minneapolis. I was in more business looking attire because I had just come from something that called for that. Dude who worked there blatantly ignored me. I guess I needed to be shirtless in linen yoga pants with an Aum tattoo or one of Ganesh maybe. Any place that has a douchebag like that as an instructor probably isn't a studio worth it's beans. Yoga's about more than crazy poses, and this studio clearly wasn't. No competitive yoga by pretentious douchebags is my MO, so I give them a one star. read more

I love the C2 classes and have been attending several months. :) The teachers have very different styles, so it takes a bit to figure out whose classes mesh with your preferred practice, I think, but I'ce never attended a disappointing C2 (flow) class. Hot, on the other hand, was weirdly disjointed. I've attended hot yoga classes at several other studios in other cities, and while I understand that the point of hot yoga is not necessarily flow between poses, I have never had a class where you lie in shavasana between most poses. It was literally being in one pose, lying in shavasana for another pose, then lying in shavasana, the getting up to hold another pose. I guess it's just not the way I like to practice. Also, that particular class had an instructor who advised us to wait until we finish a pose as a class to get water because that was the respectful thing to do, and while that's reasonable, I feel pretty strongly about letting people drink water and take breaks in yoga when the student feels like it's necessary. Not a big deal, just a personal peeve of mine. All in all, I've had a lovely experience here. The locker rooms are always very clean, and there is plenty of room in there to store belongings. The studios themselves are fairly clean, although sometimes there's the lingering smell of gross BO. But that's pretty par for the course in a place where people go to sweat, I guess... read more

I've been to a few CorePower Yoga studios in the past, but this was my first time to this location and it was right on par with my previous great experiences. The staff was super nice and accommodating. The lobby area with the clothing for sale was larger than most studios, they even had a sitting area which I thought was nice if you had some extra time before or after your class to get some work done or catch up with a friend. The locker rooms were clean. The clothing selection was nice. The studios itself were big and left enough room for plenty of people and I really liked my CP2 yoga instructor! My only small complaint would be that I rented a yoga mat and when I was in child's pose it wasn't the best smelling, and was pretty worn out so I slid a few times in warrior 2, but that's really my only complaint. I normally have my own yoga mat anyway. Overall great experience! I ordered a 10 pack of classes and look forward to going back! read more

I never attended regularly, but this place is so close to my home that sometimes I just had to stop by. Prices are in line with all the nicer gyms and fitness class, so while I find it a bit steep, I don't think it is unreasonable. Especially for the great facilities they offer: bathrooms are clean and equipped with hair driers, lotions, shampoos and so on. Borrowable mats, blocks, straps an so on look clean and in great condition. Studios are clean and toasty. Now onto the class themselves. I am really not a fun of how stuffed classes are. Teachers can really give no personal attention to anyone with that number of people. Also not a fan of the half naked guys and girls. Ok you look good and it's hot but you can afford a light dry fit shirt: they are not that expensive and they mop up your sweat. Also, you are showing off already by doing all sorts of variations on poses: no need to draw further attention onto yourselves. Lastly a philosophical critique. Yoga in my view is not just a fitness routine. It should be about mindfulness, meditation, balance, not about burning calories and showing off. The half naked people mentioned above, the fast paced routines where you barely have time to get to a pose before moving on, the half screamed "namaste"s are great for group fitness, but they really are not my ideal version of yoga. So I rate this place as a 4 for fitness and as a 2 for yoga. Average 3. Will go back and as usual spend most of my time wondering why that guy sweat so much or what is the job of the fiancé of the girl next to me (to buy that rock, job must be a pretty well paying one!) and why everyone is laying on the ground but that guy is standing on his head. And then i will get mad at myself for not shutting it all out... read more

some say corepower is a yoga factory, spitting out teachers and moving its users in and out like an assembly line. I say it is consistent and offers a great variety of classes. With all the studios in the cities, it is hard to miss a class. The downtown location is no exception. Big and spacious with many excellent teachers. I would say the clientele is a touch younger here, and very social, especially before and after class. read more

One of its many yoga studios located throughout the twin cities. I rarely visit this location due to it being further away from my place (one in Minnetonka is closer for me) but on the off chance that I know I will miss my class at my usual studio I'll end up staying at work downtown a little bit longer than usual and hit up the sculpt class at 7 pm. Sure beats going to the later one at 8:15 pm in the Minnetonka studio. Who am I kidding, I wouldn't even think about leaving my warm house to venture out in the cold to go to class that late. It's a great studio space downtown with plenty of parking in a lot next to the building. The only setback is you need to pay for parking but it is discounted (believe it's only a buck). For the numerous times I have ventured out to that location I have always had great teachers and a very energetic crowd. I definitely enjoy the flexibility on timing that each studio has so I never have to miss a class due to work schedule or lately weather. Something I recently found out, can't believe I didn't know this before, is certain health partners give you $20 off your monthly membership if you attend at least 12 classes per month (I believe that's the correct number). If you have a monthly membership, which I feel is the right path to go down; this monetary incentive will keep you on track to going to your classes. You will also be thankfully come summer time when you have that summer body and a few extra dollars saved over the months from the discount. read more

I'm a yoga studio snob. When I lived in Seattle I had been to literally every.single.studio until I found my home there. That was before my Yelping days. (BTW, the Laurelhurst studio in Seattle is wonderful) Corepower is a great studio. There are a variety of teachers, a variety of classes, they have great facilities in the DT location, parking is ample and not too expensive: overall most everyone's preferences can be met. (If you prefer small, boutique studios then this is not for you. ) What impressed me about the studio is that there are options depending upon your level of practice. Also, options for what type of environment you want to practice in (music or silent, degree of heat). They have never pushed product on me, which I appreciate. The two things I dislike about CorePower is that they are extremely expensive. Compared to the other studios in the area, I suppose they are competitive but honestly, Minneapolis has the most expensive hot yoga I've encountered. Also, another fault in my opinion is that they offer teacher training. I'm a bit crazy but I believe that if you decide to become a yoga instructor it is not something you are doing for a side hobby but is a career decision and can only be made after years of dedicated yoga practice. read more

Considering I have been spending more time at this studio than in my bed in the last three months - it's about time for a review! If you have not experienced CPY for yourself - there is no risk in trying out a free week. Framing this in the most lovingly way possible - CPY is the Starbucks of Yoga. You know what you are going to get every time you come in and you know you are going to feel pretty delightful after going. I could add a whole slew of other comparisons such as (1) best thing first thing in the morning (2) your friends are there (3) they have a cult following. CPY makes yoga accessible to people in the Twin Cities (and around the country) who might have feared the typecast of yoga before and introduced it into their lives. If you are new, CPY offers a stellar workout and a friendly environment. The studios are clean with huge locker-rooms, friendly staff and instructors, and a retail space selling anything you might need to look like a Yogi too! If you are an experienced practicioner; there are a wide variety of classes from Vinyasa to Hot Yoga to Sculpt - in over 10 locations in the Twin Cities. Classes occur all times during the day - and there is no excuse not to fit in 60 minutes of good juicy studio time, for yourself! read more

I'm a huge fan of CorePower Yoga! I've practiced at various locations including downtown Mpls, Stadium Village, St. Paul and Woodbury. The teachers are very knowledgeable, friendly and approachable (if you're a beginner yogi with a lot of questions). It's amazing how they seem to know all of their students by name. Each studio also has it's unique qualities. Mpls is the probably the largest with 3 studios and an extensive offering of class times. It's easy to find a class time that works with so many to choose from! I also love the studio in Stadium Village. The floor is like a cushion and it has a deck just off the studio. Woodbury has a spa so you can book a facial or massage while you're there. All of the studios are consistently clean and provide all of the extras like heated vinyasa classes, towels, mats, water and showers. I recently completed the Teacher Training Program at CPY and also highly recommend it to anyone seeking to go deeper in their practice. It's an intense 8-week course that will transform your yoga practice! Definitely check out CPY! read more

I saved this location for a weekend day due to traffic and parking logistics, thus DWNTWN CY was my 5th and final stop during my CY intro week and I definitely would visit again. I attended their 1.5 level class and enjoyed the good variation of both poses and music, namaste. If I worked dwntwn I would be using this studio as my happy hour as often as I could. I was pleasantly surprised. After visiting many of the other studios I was quickly becoming bored with the same class after the same class no matter what instructor or studio. As my other yelps if CY encouraged more variation I think they would get more followers that would stay loyal instead of jumping to other studios after attaining their base core. read more

Avoid taking a yoga class here on Saturday mornings or any other time there are two other fitness classes running. The studio they stick the yoga class in is small dark long narrow room. The studio walls are thin and the thumping music and yelling of the fitness class drowns the music of the yoga class out. Several times I could not hear the yoga instructor over the din. It pains me to write a review like this since I sincerely like the company but more thought should have been given to the layout and sound control in the space I wish I could choose one and a half stars for this studio since it is clean and well maintained. Unfortunately much space was wasted in the very pleasant lobby that could be better utilized. Try the other metro Core Power studios for a good yoga experience. I like the St. Paul location better. Much nicer staff/teachers. I do like the fact that there are multiple locations and classes at almost every time of the day so I can go do yoga over lunch, late at night, or early in the morning. My schedule changes so frequently with work and volunteering that it is nice that there are a lot of classes that are offered. Also, for the price, I use Corepower WAY more than I did my Lifetime Membership and the Firm membership. Yes, it is a yoga factory farm, but the fact that they offer different varieties and also offer a cardio component makes me go here more often than not. I see the people that look snooty and uppity, but frankly, I'm not there for them - I'm there for me I do have to say, everyone that I have met so far has been super nice and awesome so I really think it is just a state of mind and perception rather than reality. Also, since I am doing yoga, who am I to judge?? They could be going through a whole lot more than me and probably need yoga more for the flow than I do. Anyway, try it. If you don't like it, who cares? Aren't you there to enjoy your practice anyway? If it doesn't fit, move on. Namaste :) read more

Corepower Yoga is a great studio to practice. I've practiced in the Corepower studios in Edina, Minneapolis, St. Paul, St. Louis Park, and Minnetonka. The studios all pretty much look the same. Some are smaller (St. Louis Park) some have more difficult parking (St. Louis Park, Minneapolis, St. Paul). The staff checking you in at the desk are always friendly and in a good mood. The studio and locker rooms are very clean. The yoga instructors are nice and will adjust you if your alignment is off. I've always have a good experience here. I love the 90 minute Hot Yoga class but have also taken Core Power 1 and Hot Yoga Express. If you are a member of Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) you get a discount on the 10 class package so be sure to ask if you are an MPR member. A lot of people seem to complain about the expensive yoga clothes in the lobby. But, you know what? Most yoga clothes (Lululemon, Ion, Beyond Yoga, Om Girl, etc.) ARE really expensive if you buy them elsewhere too. So, I don't think Corepower is ripping anybody off here. read more

I love that I have a different yoga experience every time I come here for a class. At this studio I have only taken the 90 Minute Hot Yoga (6pm). There is a different teacher every night of the week so you can always expect something different. Some play traditional yoga/ambient music, some will play hip-hop and some play 80s....(ew). Nothing screws with your concentration like "Boys of Summer." But nonetheless the practice is always the same. It is true that the locker room is often crowded but it's understandable. It's hard work being a yogi. It's hard to not take up so much space with all the things that need to be toted around; work clothes, yoga clothes, after clothes, mat, towel etc etc etc. The merch is slightly overpriced, but not really any more than the retailers the merchandise comes from. As a new student, I just started a trial week for free yoga so I'll check back in if I stick around and try out more classes and teachers. Until then, I have to say that I'm loving this experience. All of the teachers I've had are extremely positive and encouraging, which is really motivating when you are out of practice or new to yoga. Some other reviewers mentioned that Core Power is a "yoga factory" and less preferable to a small, independent studio. For me, I love that Core Power is so large. Members can also go to other cities to practice which is a great convenience when you are traveling. Also, there are always new people coming and going in this studio, which is less intimidating than walking into a class where everyone already knows each other. Small warning: classes are packed if you attend right after a typical work day, so either arrive 30 mins early to get a good spot or go to a class later in the evening. The beginner classes are usually held in Studio 3 which isn't very big and can fill up fast. If it looks like there could be space, just ask someone to move so that you can get your mat down and they usually oblige. read more

I went to a week of free yoga class, and I'm addicted. Definitely sign up and go try all the classes you can ever make. The C1 is a very good introduction if you haven't done much yoga. I love the C2--it's the perfect class for a good workout but without too much advanced/uncomfortable poses. Sculpt is a complete burn and sweat fest. You'll need a lot of water and and big towel. LOVE IT. I get really stressed in the Hot classes, but afterwards it feels amazing. Some cons are that... it's expensive. The regular rate is $124 per month. I would wait for a Groupon or something to come out. Or hey maybe when you are on summer break and can take advantage of 3 classes per day (may be physically impossible). It can also get very crowded sometimes. And when the room is heated to 98 degrees and there are people 2 inches away from you on every side and their sweat is flinging everywhere, it's really disgusting. Tips: Get there 15 minutes early for the popular classes so you can get a good spot in the room. read more

This studio is beautiful! The classes here and super hot and sweaty. The facility is very clean and the locker rooms are spacious. Good instructors and an easy to find location. I wish the teachers had microphones. It was very hard to hear in the Yoga Sculpt class. Four stars for the insane price of a drop in. It's $25 here in Minneapolis but only 12$ for the same thing in other cities. If you have never been to CPY I really don't recommend it for beginners (beyond the C1). The instructors never demonstrate and almost never correct students. In sculpt classes which is more like a cardio and weights class, many people have terrible form but are never corrected or shown how to improve. read more

Absolutely ridiculous service. I am a black tag member which means I can take unlimited classes with auto-monthly-payment. I was told anytime I can hold for any period of time total 3 months a year. Now, I paid one week ago by auto-pay, and I wanna hold it for next 3weeks because I will be out of country. I went 1 or 2 classes last week because I paid and today I asked them to hold it for next 3 weeks. They don't deal with this at the spot first of all, and gave me number to call. I called center and the lady says they can hold only from the date of payment. So I have to pay for the period I won't be around and only can hold for the next payment day when I'm around. What made me so mad is no one explained about it at all. If that was the policy, someone should've explained before signing up this service. Now they will charge somebody who obvious not going to use their service at all. Here is my experience of yoga classes. I took different levels and types of classes here and it's ordinary. All are repetitive yet demonstration of poses are rare. Each instructors teach differently for certain poses which made me very confused at first. I started with looking at person next to me and YouTube video. The floor is often wet. Slippery floor of shower area. There are lots of other yoga places with the same or maybe better services. Core power yoga is franchised in many places and they make things very difficult for the customers. I don't have any reason to spend my money for this kind of customer service and I don't recommend core power yoga. read more

I love core power yoga, they have great teachers and classes running all the time. It is great that you can use any studio also for your packages. My only negative for this studio (and i find it huge) is that you had to pay to park. I never seems to get any of the 10 free spots so I end up paying. I'm getting back into the Yoga groove, so I just signed up for a new membership at CorePower. Most of it due to 2 reasons: 1. I've been eating out way too much and I'm getting a gut. 2. I live 2 blocks away now and I own my place, so it's going to be permanently 2 blocks away from me for a long time...I have no excuse not to go. I loved going to CorePower 2 or so years ago but got busy with life and lazy about going out of my way for a class. Coming back for my first few classes made me realize how much I missed the calmin experiences of Yoga. The classes are still taught in the same exact way, so I was able to fit right in. I personally don't like this location as much as the Grand or Edina location. This place is much more crowded and busy, the locker rooms are extremely full and if you don't get there early enough you might not have a locker. I remember the other locations laying out hair bands and pins just incase you forgot yours. This one didn't have this simple convenience. Oh well...this is what I get for the convenience of being able to walk to my Yoga studio! :) read more

I discovered Corepower about 6 months ago and it's a regular part of my routine. I love the convenient schedule, the variety of classes available, and the instructors. I will admit, it can get crowded. And every once in a while you'll get an instructor that makes you scratch your head and think, What were they thinking? But all in all, I have found the instructors really really care about what they do. Corepower is expensive, but I feel like it's worth every penny. This studio has changed my life, and I would recommend it to anyone. read more

I had an interview at the University and walked to this studio afterwards to get in some yoga before my flight back home. The staff was so welcoming and nice!! I was early for the class and waiting outside (the doors are locked until 30 minutes before the class starts) when one of the front desk people saw me. He opened the door and invited me in to get started on the paperwork. I told him I was OK waiting outside, but he insisted saying, "It's much warmer in here." The studio is beautiful, and the humidity/heat were perfect. I loved the flooring as well. It looks like hardwood, but it is a little foamy. I am not sure what it is made of, but it was a great surface on which to practice. Matt was teaching the class. It was quite challenging, but he reminded us to listen to our bodies and modify as needed. He also wasn't hard on the eyes!! I definitely would return if I am back in the Minneapolis area. I saw some reviewers say that it was expensive here. I didn't look into the package rates, but I've practiced in a lot of different cities and the drop-in rate was pretty cheap compared to other heated studios. When I got home, I realized there is a location in Berkeley so I will definitely go check that out. So far so good. I took two classes there this week and its the first time I've done corepower yoga. Cons: Its different from what I'm used to- classes are a lot faster and if you don't know the poses you don't get any instruction (verbal or hands-on) and have to look around to figure it out. I also am not crazy about music with lyrics in the room when doing yoga- just my thing I guess. Pros: Overall I got a good workout and the staff was really nice. Also, studio is very nice and clean. Overall, this is a great studio with a convenient variety of yoga and cardio classes led by (mostly) great instructors. I've been a member for years. I do have one major complaint however; the more popular classes get PACKED and the instructors do not place a capacity on classes. I would much rather be told a class is full than be in a class with mats wall to wall with 2" between them. It makes focusing or relaxing next to impossible when you have to worry about avoiding sticking your bare feet in a stranger's face, or trying to ignore the sweat your neighbor is getting on you. Find a class that has a reasonable amount of people and it's fantastic, but catch a full one, and be prepared for the instructor to jigsaw the class around to squeeze in just as many customers as possible. read more

This is my favorite Core Power studio - I have practiced in Woodbury, Highland Park, St. Paul/Grand Ave, and Northeast. It just feels like 'home' to me - I love the Minneapolis-ness of it. Parking isn't usually a problem, although now in the summer months with all of the construction all over the place I have had issues a couple times, but that may be attributable to my poor planning more so than CorePower - I just need to give myself more time to deal with the challenges MNDOT throws at me.
