    Auto belay tall walls

Absolutely fantastic experience! First off, thank you Echo for the professional and thorough orientation. When we arrived to the gym, we were greeted by several staff members who go us oriented with a day pass ($22) and gear rentals ($13). As experienced climbers, we are always thrilled to try a new gym, but this gym beat ALL expectations. Everyone is required to have a orientation before any climbing which goes through and allows guests to try to connect to the auto-belays and how to safely manage themselves through the gym. Guests are also allowed to use the weights and other non-climbing equipment (not always common in rock gyms). Myself and my brother were then allowed to test out on the belay test and then rent an ATC belay device for $5. You are allowed to use both an ATC or a GriGri in this gym. The flooring was a perfect material (cut up loose rubber) for descending from the tall walls. Each route was clearly marked with difficulty level and a single color for the holds rather than tape. Overall, wonderful experience and I hope to visit again during my next trip to Minneapolis!

Been coming here for a couple months. Even if there's no parking out front there's more spaces in the back. There are plenty of auto belays and bouldering options if you come solo. It's also nice that as a VE member the basic top rope class is free so you can learn to belay a partner. There doesn't seem to be strict consistency with the belay qualification test but at least all the staff I've seen is careful about safety and want to make sure you know what you're doing. You can ask for a piece of practice rope if you want to work on knot tying. They switch out routes every couple of months so you can always have a project to work on. There are also treadmills, weights, MoonBoards and non wall things if you want to take a break from climbing.

Super fun activity with the kids! The staff was very helpful and the environment was relaxed and clean! Looking forward to going again!

Lots of auto-belays and a good mix of tall and short walls to climb on. The Bloomington location has a lot of variety for your climbing needs. I used to be a regular at the Minneapolis one until I settled down and bought a house in the 'burbs. This is my closest gym now, and I feel they've done a good job designing it. Lots of tall and short routes, a weight room, and a sizable bouldering area. Their greatest asset, for me anyways, is all the auto belays at this location. They have 27 total, the most out of all their locations. I'm also currently part of their adult climbing league. It's been nice getting the chance to meet people and always have a climbing partner, but I feel it could be ran a little better. It's the third week and we haven't had any emails updates, so the scores I've been shooting for every week are essentially non-existent, at least in the competitive sense. Minneapolis is still my favorite location but this one isn't bad by any means. If you're in the area and a fan of climbing you should check it out.

All the fun of Vertical Endeavors in a location closer to work! Although not completely finished with the buildout, it's up and running and open to the public. Looks like it has a lot of promise. Subtracting one star because they went with cubbies instead of lockers (at least so far, maybe things will change as they finish building). I'm not confident just leaving my wallet, keys, and cellphone in a cubby. I'd prefer a standard locker. Also I felt the bathrooms were kind of small for the square footage, but it was opening day and maybe the crowds were exaggerating the crowd beyond what a typical day will end up being.

It does take a few tries to get used to the auto belay, but it is fun after! The staff here are super good at answering any questions and giving you tips on how to stretch. Ellie and Ella made sure we're kept safe and having fun the entire 2 hours of rock wall climbing and swinging. This is my 2nd time to request a group outing and they make the experience so easy. First, I filled out an online form stating my expected group size and requested date(s). Within a day, a nice gentleman called me back to set expectations and told me which dates and times were available. I then called back the third day to finalize everything. They answered all of my questions quickly and I just had to put a $50 deposit to hold my reservation. Once we arrived, each kid got a wristband so the instructors could easily find which kids belong in our group. Then, we all got a harness and they began a 10-15 minute introductory lesson on how to climb using the auto-belays. They offered to manually belay us, but we all preferred the auto-belays. I settled the bill after the event finished, and it was $30 per person as advertised. Pro Tip: don't forget to bring cash! I gave the instructors cash tips as there was no way to add tip to the credit card transaction. I loved their auto-belay systems. It makes climbing so easy and I felt safe belaying down from the very top. I especially love the Minneapolis location because of the abundance of natural lighting in each climbing area. I'd love to buy a 10 visit pass next time for my family to share as it's a fun way to burn some calories.

9 months later and I've gone from being an admirer of this gym to Crossfit MN (now Crossfit Edina)…read morebeing an integral part of my life. I now go Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. Why? Not just to work out but to see a close group of friends that challenge each other every single time we work out together. Honestly, at first, it's super intimidating. You'll feel incompetent the first day, for the first month. But if you stick with it, my gosh it can change your entire perception on life. I eat cleaner, work harder, and have far more energy than when I started in February. If a scrawny guy like me can olympic lift, anybody can.

If I could give this gym less than one star I would. I have been Crossfitting for 3 years now, got…read morecertified, and was at an amazing gym in San Antonio called Mission Crossfit; the best, warmest, friendliest gym ever. I came home to MN for a wedding and obviously wanted to do a WOD; called this gym to ask for their drop in policy and the guy (assuming its the owner) said its 20 dollars, just come 10 minutes prior to sign the waiver. So I showed up with my girlfriend who had an introductory course and crossfitted one time before hand and wanted to participate again; the WOD looked completely scalable for her. We waited in the lobby on benches and after 15 minutes the owner walked up to us and said, "Can I help you with something?" as if we were shopping for Lululemon clothes in his gym and had just destroyed a whole pile of Speed shorts. I brushed it off and said I was there for a drop in WOD and just wanted to get a good workout in while on vacation and my friend wanted to join a crossfit gym. He asked me how long I had been crossfitting, and asked my friend who said she had the intro class and did one WOD prior and was still newer to the sport. He looked at me and said "You brought her to this gym to WOD and she has only done a WOD once?" I said, "It's all scalable, and I will modify for her as needed" which he ignored and said "Sign the waiver it's 25 dollars each" threw a pen and paper at us AND WALKED AWAY. I have never had such horrible customer service at a Crossfit gym from a fellow Crossfitter. He was acting like it was some secret community that you had to show a secret tattoo and kill a guy to be a part of. Needless to say we walked the F&*% out and did our own WOD at home; its not F#$%ing rocket science. I explained to my girlfriend, who really wanted to join a gym in the area that this is not how we would treat you at Mission Crossfit; I have brought numerous people from work and friends in for a class on the spot and have gotten them hooked because of how friendly and awesome our trainers are. Good job Crossfit MN, you were a complete jerk and lost service and respect from your fellow Crossfitters, I will never refer any friends or family to your gym. You might want to go back to customer service training and take some pointers; I know it's cold up here and people are generally rude, but be a team player, your representing an amazing organization that would not want A&*holes like you giving them a bad name.
