I said I wanted solid white oak built-ins and a week before the "completed by date," I'm finding out he wants to upcharge me for the wood and claims that he thought I wanted "alder wood with a white oak color paint." Why on earth would I want that? White oak means white oak... If he would take a minute and stop bragging about his fancy Sherwood jobs, maybe he would get to appointments on time and pay attention to what he's doing. I gave a 50% deposit on Nov 18, 2020 and was guaranteed installation by Jan 15, 2021. I said ok, now realizing he wrote down Jan 15 to Jan 25.. funny how that wasn't mentioned. I finally received the drawings (after asking over and over) and they were wrong. The measurements of our walls and TV were even wrong. The cabinets were missing from my husband's office (I think this is the intentionally planned upcharge that was coming). It doesn't make sense. Why weren't those on there? We discussed in detail. We even talked about the demo and we had it done! Yesterday he acted as if we added that.. what!? I assumed memory issues but now I think it's deliberate and intentional to pretend I added something so he can upcharge. I always said I wanted white oak wood. We spoke at length about how I then want to re-finish or somehow tweak the color of my husband's white oak wood desk so it matches. He told me that wouldn't be a problem, but yesterday it was a problem and he was shocked I wanted white oak wood? He told me he thought I wanted alder wood painted to look like white oak. I absolutely do not! He then tried to get at me aesthetically and said the white oak wouldn't look good because it's too similar to my flooring.. hmm.. well, maybe that's the idea! And if you were going to paint Alder wood to look like white oak, how's it different? I tried to be polite and just said ok, I'll look at the samples of both - Alder and White Oak - and that's how we left things last night. I slept on it and was really upset. I feel like I was totally taken advantage of and lied to, and like he thinks he can just convince us to do something we don't want. I've done that before and I say no this time! We're a young couple doing built-ins in our first home. We were so excited about it and it's taken a few years for us to be ready to make this investment, and we know what we want! It's Jan 9 and we were supposed to have the built-ins in my husband's home office and family room by Jan15, and now I come to find out that we are not even aligned on wood type, let alone the stain. Oh and now he can't make my husbands desk color match the built-ins either way. If we do alder, it's different wood (the desk is solid white oak we designed and had custom made locally) and if it's white oak, now he claims that the desk might have veneer on the sides so he can't stain it. It absolutely does not. So this morning, I respectfully said that I know that we want white oak, not alder. He replied telling me it would be a lot more pricey and that he would call me to discuss. I really didn't want to discuss it. I know what I want. I replied and said "ok then let's just cancel it. I have someone else who can do it." I have 2 other bids that are for white oak and they're not "a lot more pricey." I'm pretty frustrated we wasted all this time. I was shocked to hear that this man will not give us back any of our money. He has $5,500 and has not done any work. We didn't approve materials, color, drawings, etc. This man claims that he's keeping it because he spent time measuring. Isn't that crazy??! That's worth $5,500? What about the fact that he won't meet his completion date? What about the fact that he has not spent a penny on materials yet? How could he have? It's impossible. This man says he has a whole factory and tons of jobs, so why does he need our hard earned money? I'm just shocked. This man was so rude to me. I had my mom listen in. He complained that I was "disrespectful" for not showing up at my parents' house 2 years ago when he came to measure and give an estimate to redo their kitchen. Why would I need to be there? It was my parents house and I was helping them with the design. My mom was there - she's the owner of the house. By the way, the reason I was not there is because I have a full-time job and he is always late and rescheduling. I don't live at my parents house and can't always be there. I had already said - the layout was the same - just new cabinets. He wasted a bunch of my mom's time telling her about his other jobs. We don't care! We care about our projects! That's it! Please think about what you are doing and give us our money back. You did not provide a service and will not. Please do not steal our hard earned money and our joy to make our house our home. read more

This place is horrible and should not be allowed to call themselves a business. I have been in business for 23 years and would not have been if I had ever treated anyone this way. This place has no concept of customer service and does not appreciate a potential and loyal customer I was treated poorly by the rude female who says she's the owner. From reading the reviews it's not her first go round with mistreating people and as the other writer stated, if they have been a reputable business for so long, why so few reviews. I waited several weeks for a quote. I called several times following up. I had given both my phone number and email, but they did not respond to either. My last phone inquiry, I was unable to write and asked why if they had a quote for me, that it did not get emailed. Because I challenged their poor customer service skills, I was then told by the miserable woman that she didn't want to do business with me...well that's good because I would never want to be caught up in any business dealings with people like this, so I am happy she revealed herself early, saving me from having to write this review after I was already involved. Update: Fact: "Zazu" came into our home yelled at me and refused to deliver the expensive 7k furniture I bought for my Mom. He placed the furniture outside on the curb! He forced my Mom to sign paperwork because she was afraid she would never get her furniture. This is called intimidation. I have a police report indicating that he yelled inside our home and I had to fight to get the items delivered then paid him cash for the delivery fee and he ran off. Fact: I am telling the truth about your insidious business that only had 7 reviews on Yelp after 16 years in business. You are a not a business; if you had such wonderful customers with reviews on Yelp you wouldn't care so much to BULLY one person into removing this review. Fact: I am a Professor of anatomy and physiology for almost 10 years. Fact: I am not a blogger, as you claim I am. Why do you care what I do for a living? Why are you attacking me when all you have to do is follow the contract YOUR WIFE had written to "fix it," you will not bully me into speaking the truth, you will not continuously lie to my mother about replacing it and yet not producing written proof via another contract that you will replace it with the correct measurements, you will fix it according to the contract. Provide this evidence on Yelp now of what you have against me instead of asking people to come into your sad store and seeing it. Why not be completely transparent? Are you two Trump supporters? Bullying of customers who give you thousands of dollars in checks which you cash immediately is a sign you have a failing business; also evidenced by your lack of any reviews on Yelp. You have no reputable business; if you did you would have at least 200-300 reviews minimum over your alleged 16 years of business. You only incite me more to defend myself as a paying customer because you deposited my checks immediately and refused to write a warranty without me begging for one. Next time a customer asks you for a warranty look at the name on the thousands of dollars of multiple checks you've deposited. You'll be dealing with her. End of story. Also next time you expect a customer to walk into a store and okay and order before delivery, take the plastic wrap wrap off (don't complain about taking the wrap off so the customer sees the product) and then when I don't feel good about getting it delivered tell me to "believe you" that you will not have a problem with the items; then when I ask for a warrantly, kick and scream and get offended that I asked for a warranty. Padavo is a fantastic furniture store which is a family owned business. Laura (Lore), Natalie, and hubby (whose name has escaped me), have been around for about 15 years. They used to be located on Thousand Oaks Boulevard, now they are in The Janss shopping Mall where Linens and Things used to be. I have bought many items here and have NEVER been disappointed!! I have bought off the showroom floor; guest bedroom set, red table with dental tooth design, and green armoire for my entry. I have also had several items made such as; custom island for the kitchen with butcher block top and custom stools, orange dresser (Alderwood) and Joi, the designer, is now helping me with my next project; a bedroom armoire with laundry pull-outs and clothing storage...I am so excited!!! The quality of the product is amazing not to mention the fact that they can take my vision and make it into a reality. Last I heard they got the stuff made in Mexico but the video on the website with the "cool catchy" phrase says its local. So so. You like it or you don't. But it appears to be someone is fishing for clients to represent. Funny when people correct others but spell or have incorrect grammar themselves. SS is right on the ball about mark up. Ridiculous. The new location I visited a few months ago does look like a discount store going out of business compared to the one in their info commercial I saw on their website. Oh my goodness! I just had a very large and beautiful dresser custom made. I have been looking and looking for the perfect dresser but it was nowhere to be found. So one day as I was passing by Padavo, I saw a sign that read we custom make furniture. I thought to myself, this is it! I designed my seven foot long dresser with nine drawers, with full extensions, suck in close, cedar lined, and all solid wood. I worked with Natalie who was very sweet and helpful with the entire process of designing my perfect dresser. I would recommend anyone to have anything built by Padavo and I look forward to having more furniture custom made and bar stools re upholster in the near future. Everyone who has seen my dresser just absolutely loves it. My sister says "Your dresser is BEAUTIFUL." My boyfriend is just impressed with how it turned out, and he knows a lot about good quality furniture. Padavo has remade our home! Years ago they made a 12 foot dining room table, 6 ladder back chairs and 2 custom linen closets. We knew we would use them again! Lore and Zazu are professionals and VERY helpful. Padavo now has an in house decorator "Joi" who came out to our house and measured and then planned out a beautiful living room with area rug, 2 sofas, curtains, pillows, and two slipcovered club chairs. They designed a beautiful window seat with custom cushion and colorful pillows Because they make their own furniture you can bring in a picture of what you like and they can make it...often for much less than catalogs or other furniture stores. We are thrilled with everything and highly recommend Padavo. read more

The worst shopping experience in my life was when I went to Padavo. The "owner" is a horrible businesswoman. I placed an order for a very expensive dinette set on a Saturday and gave her a 50% deposit. I called the very next day to cancel the order and they refused to refund my deposit saying that "all sales are final" but I never actually bought anything, and my order was never placed. Now all I have is a store credit for $1,200 in a store that I don't ever want to patronize. It's really a shame because I might have gone back to purchase something else at some point if they weren't so unprofessional, dishonest, and greedy. This store is amazing. As much as I hate shopping, I like being in this store. The furniture on the showroom is beautiful, tasteful, and extremely well-made. The review from "John C" is just pure bunk. If you're going to call something shoddy, you should at least know how to spell it (i.e., not "shoty"). What you need to understand is that this furniture is HAND MADE.... out of WOOD. Each piece is one of a kind. If you want cheap cookie-cutter furniture that came out of a giant factory in China, go to Ikea and order the Blurg Desk. This furniture is priced very low for what it is... custom hand-made pieces. As a business attorney, I can tell you that most furniture stores mark up their pieces between 700% and 1,000%. Padavo cannot be doing that for these prices. For e.g., my wife and were looking at a wall unit make from pine and alder. It was priced at around $1,300.00. Not one piece of plastic or particle board was to be found. For the same price, you can go into Urban Home or Pottery Barn orone of the other chain stores and get a similar looking piece with plastic latches and hidden particle board construction (which, FYI, contains urea formaldehyde). Real furniture is made by hand out of wood. If that's what you want, check this place out. read more

Let me just say...I love Padavo! I have purchased several pieces of furniture from them over the last few years, and I regularly get compliments on them from friend's and visitors to my home. Some items are custom and some right off the floor. (sofa, lamps, paintings, coffee table, entertainment center, etc). When I was in a rush to get my living room furniture by Thanksgiving...they made sure it was ready & they delivered it the night before. Natalie is always great to work with. I let her know what I'm looking for and she always has fabric samples ready for me when I arrive at the store. Her knowledge of her products & her design abilities are top notch. She has even come in and to meet with me on her day off in order to work around my schedule. Amazing customer service! I have never in my life had worse customer service. Their furniture is drastically overpriced. I have never seen anyone else in the store and after meeting the staff I'm not suprised as to why. The young woman that works there (I believe the daughter) has a huge sense of entitlement. Maybe its because mommy and daddy give her the job. I'd like to see her hold down a position at a store where she isn't related to the owner. She was so rude we left and have vowed to NEVER return. What a shame. We had planned to purchase a few items. About 3 years ago we had a GORGEOUS custom corner cabinet/entertainment center built. Distressed black with doors, shelves and drawers. It is SO beautiful! We have been looking for a dining room table. I found the specific one through a large bulk store. They delivered it twice and TWICE it came broken. This store is absolutely wonderful. They have so many unique pieces of furniture. I went to Padavo last year with my aunt to buy her a new couch and I believe it was Natalie who helped us. She is the daughter of the owners and she was so patient with us despite all of our indecisiveness, and having four women all together discussing options- which can get overwhelming. She let us take home swatches and really helped guide us and narrow down what we wanted. She made the payment process easy and my aunt got the custom couch delivered to her and it's beautiful and just what she wanted.
