Some of the best Thai I've had! We were in the middle of a cross country trip, looking for dinner. Review looked really good so we decided to give it a try First, this small downtown restaurant is beside the theater and easy to miss. There was no apparent sign. On entering, it's clear the owners are taking COVID restrictions seriously. Every other table has a sign not to use the table and everything is very clean. We were served promptly and our waiter anticipated and provided everything we could ask for. We shared spring rolls which were beautifully prepared and presented, fresh and delicious. My husband ordered Seafood Pad Thai and I had the Drunken Noodles. Both were excellent. The portions were such that we'll have enough to have at home tomorrow after a long trip. We both ordered the garlic chicken. The menu described the dish with snow peas, mushrooms, water chestnuts, carrot and onion. Sounds delicious, right? However, it was mainly chicken and onions with a few carrot slices. Unfortunately, there were no snow peas, mushrooms or water chestnuts. It had good flavor, however my rating is lower because I specifically ordered this dish for all the vegetables and was very disappointed. The crab wontons were good and filling. Had the Pad Thai Combination with beef and shrimp and it was delicious! The beef was tender, the noodles abundant, and the perfect spice level at "2." The shrimps were overcooked but it didn't interfere with the great meal. The service was excellent, friendly, and welcoming. The restaurant is small but open and not cramped. I noticed this restaurant on Yelp on my drive back to Des Moines and saw it had good reviews, so I stopped in to try it out. The prices are pretty reasonable. They have about 34 items to select from plus soups and appetizers. They also have 9 Chinese dishes on their Chinese menu at the table. I selected the pad gra pow with beef, my go-to dish at every Thai restaurant, and the server indicated this is medium spice. The dish comes out very quickly after being thrown in the stir fry. The beef is finely chopped pieces of meat, not ground like some places. There is also an abundance of veggies. The flavor is definitely excellent on this dish and really hits the spot. I would say it's not a lot of beef, though. You finally see most of the beef when you finish eating the veggies, actually. I received friendly service from the young lady. My only complaint is that the bathroom was very clean, but it didn't have any towels to dry your hands. Wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Menu had lots of options. Food arrived quickly and was hot. Was hoping for buckwheat Soba noodles and was served Raman noodles instead in the College custom favorite dish. Portions a bit sparse for the price. Atmosphere charming, fresh and clean and not cluttery like some Tai restaurants. This place is downtown Mount Pleasant, Iowa close to the Square. We had an excellent Sunday afternoon lunch with some friends here all the food was really delicious and the service was excellent. They have big fish tanks with interesting fish inside. I thought the prices were very reasonable for the amount of food that you received. read more

Had great take out at Pad Thai! Only had to wait about 10 minutes after placing an order for 2 to go pick it up. Take heed of the spice warnings because they are no joke. I had to take the chilis out of my Pad Phet because they were so hot, but they left a good flavor behind. I was a little disappointed that there was so much rice though and not many vegetables. My mom's Pad Thai with peanuts was excellent, though and everything was perfectly balanced. There are a lot of great vegan friendly options, though - probably some of the best in southeast Iowa. I have to say it was amazing and the young lady waiting on us was doing the traditional bow as a way of respecting someone. My pet peeve is food that's is up to temps. It was very hot food. Unfortunately, I feel the food here is a bit overrated. I am Thai and I feel embarrassed that some people thought the food here is better than the food they sampled in Thailand. The Yam Nam is not too bad, just a bit salty. The Traditional Pad Thai is definitely a different definition of traditional than I am used to. Missing were the tofu, bean sprouts, dried shrimps, and/or Chinese chives. The Drunken Noodle is a little bit too sweet for my palate. Considering this is a relatively small community, I am pleased they have the option of Thai food. Based on the temperature of the food and the quality of the ingredients they did include, I would give this place 4 stars, however the service is less than satisfactory. COME HERE. This is the best Thai food I've ever had and my standards are pretty high. Food is so fast, so fresh, and so flavorful. The soups are great, the wings are great, the noodles are great. This is one of the restaurants that I would be comfortable ordering anything because I know its gonna be good. The bathrooms are clean, they do have that strong scentsy smell that I don't like, but I've been in some bad bathrooms so I'm just happy they're clean. The prices are crazy compared to the quality and quantity of what you're getting. Authentic Thai food from a locally owned and operated business that remembers you if you come in regularly (and you will). We come all the way from Iowa city every other month to get our fix. We have eaten at Pad Thai many times since it opened in early 2015. The restaurant never disappoints! Clean atmosphere, great service by smiling wait staff, prompt arrival of food. All reasonably priced. Our favorites are Red Curry, Green Curry, Spicy Basil Leaf with Tofu, Thai Fresh Spring Rolls & Thai Ice Tea! Once we asked if they could prepare Massaman curry and they did! Must stop here! No questions asked! I've had Thai food from several restaurants around Louisville and this is by far the best I've ever had! I would drive the long trip just to visit again. As you walk in, you are greeted with a warm welcome and pleasant atmosphere. Though the waiter on a Monday evening about 7:00 was overwhelmed by all the customers. He was still constantly checking on everyone and making sure everyone was enjoying their meal. Tables were a little slow to be wiped down but he was sure that if someone were to sit, it was wiped and cleaned. Looking at the menu, it's speaks Thai food and nothing but. I say this because I've been to places that try to put all sort of Asian cuisine on the menu and just lack the ability to make it fit. This place nails it! The flavors and presentation of the dishes I saw pass my table and placed in front of me were amazing if not more. I had ordered a ice tea, wasn't old tasting. A small bowl of Tom Yum with shrimp which was just great by its self. Then I also had to try the Pad Thai with shrimp. Not sure why I ordered shrimp for both, but they were perfect. No skimp on portions at all, big shrimp, more than enough. Friendly faces to enjoy it with even if your from out of town. Looking around you could tell everyone was having a great time and the food talked for itself as it came out. Chatting with a couple of guys across from me, they shared the same impression from beginning to end of my delight. The shrimp fried rice is really good, highly recommend! The yellow curry was good not really spicy at all which i liked but came with a ridiculously small amount of rice on the side, it was like half a scoop! The shrimp tempura roll was alright, definitely tastes a lot better with the sauces. Am happy they have a Thai place here in a small town, but service could be better. There is an awesome Asian waitress who doesn't seem to speak much English, but she was very sweet and attentive, we liked her a lot better than the waitress who did speak English. What we didn't like is hearing English girl bitching at Asian girl loudly enough for us to hear, it ruined the whole atmosphere along with her snobby attitude. That shrimp fried rice though... I don't have a lot of Thai food experiences, but I love this place just north of the square in Mount Pleasant. I've been 6 times, and not only have I really enjoyed my meal, but the people I've been with have as well. The restaurant's unimpressive entrance is easily missed with the large, vintage movie marquee to the left. The interior is nothing special - simple and quite clean. First and foremost, the food is delicious! We have never eaten anything that we didn't love there. My lower rating is strictly for the continuous poor service at Pad Thai. We have been there at least fifteen times and we have only received good service there once, and that particular waitress hasn't been seen there since. Although I highly recommend the food, I can't say the same for the dine-in experience. My recommendation is to either get the food as to-go or have little to no expectations for the wait staff. The servers stand at the front counter and talk to each other the entire time. They don't ask if you'd like more to drink (hello, spicy Thai food), they don't ask how your meal is going or if you need anything else, they don't bring your check to the table unless you flag someone down and ask, and you're expected to bring your check up to them at the cash register to pay (even when there is a mile long line of to-go customers). The owner/manager is never seen, perhaps they're in back cooking I don't know, thus the wait staff has no reason to do much of anything (other than the potential of lost tips, but who needs money right??). Today our server did all of the standard listed above, but additionally acted as if she were being inconvenienced when we asked for to-go boxes for our left overs (and I had to tell her what sized boxes we needed instead of her just looking at the table, using her better judgement, and figuring it out). It's quite frustrating the service here is so poor since this is the best Thai food around (we drive 45 mins for it). Pretty sure we will just be getting the food as to-go from now on. read more

The tap water that they use taste weird. I wonder if they have a filter on it. Broth of combo pho is still delicious just as it was my 4 years throughout college. They take the tail off the shrimp which restaurants usually don't do. The food quality and service is exceptional. This seems to be the only Thai restaurant in town so I'm glad that it is decent. I would recommend this place to all types of groups and ages. I would like to try their Laab next time and see how that taste. So far the combo pho was able to hit the spot and fill my void of being homesick. After travelling through the Midwest for almost a month, I had been craving something more ethnic. I found ourselves in Mount Pleasant for a night and stumbled across the reviews for Pad Thai on Yelp. I threw caution into the wind (a Thai restaurant in Iowa?) and ordered up dinner for the family. I placed the order and walked around downtown waiting out the 15-20 minutes it was going to take. I picked up the food, returned home, and enjoyed every ounce of it. It was one of the best Thai meals I had ever had, and I had this one in Iowa!? If you are in Mount Pleasant and want, something a little spicy... come here.
