That being said this place may not look like much but that fried chicken was everything everyone hyped it up to be. Large rice $4 but its best to just get a plate if you want everything. The customer service on the phone was surprisingly good. They packed it in aluminum foil so I guess you could bake it easily when you got home for convenience. A father and daughter slowly t towards the counter, placing their order using hand signals as they approach... the ladies behind the counter move deliberately to pack up two chicken dinners to go. I quickly made a mental note of everyone there ahead of me as more people filtered in. After a while, I was up! If you drive by too fast you'll miss it. It's a big pink building with no flashy signs or polished exterior. I first heard about Pack from coworkers raving about it. I never realized I lived less than 5 min away. My first experience was confusing. You walk in, no menus on the wall just a old printed piece of paper. Pretty basic to understand though and I opted for the "special". Fried chicken, rice and pikliz for $5, I added a Jupina and paid a total of $6. Like how can you beat that? The chicken visually looks good but when you take a bite it's like wow, wasn't expecting that. Was packed with flavor. I will say sometimes when I go it is too salty for me but that's just my own personal taste buds. They go in order first come first serve. One person takes your order, prepares it and cashes you out. Not a long process though. Some of the ladies English are minimal but I don't speak creole and I've never had an issue with ordering. The women are always nice and delicate. I've had the griot and the fried chicken and I feel the fried chicken is a better deal overall. I get the white rice which comes with a side of like Haitian black bean sauce ... sorry I don't know the proper name :( . Or you can get rice and peas instead. Easy, quick filling me. At arrival I stood in what I thought was the line and saw others sitting at the counter so I did the same. The employees took orders by asking who was next, and customers kept it honest and everyone was served in order of arrival. The employee who took my order was helpfull and kind and helped walk me through my order. I ordered a ten piece chicken, which comes as all drumsticks. The chicken was was hot and fresh out of the oil and served in a foil pan to go. Also 2 orders of plantain that come 3 sizable pieces for $1. Pikliz comes with the Fried Chicken. Decided to try this place after reading the raving reviews as one of the best fried chicken places in town. I ordered two of the $8 specials which comes w rice plantain and salad. Perhaps I'm accustomed to more seasoning and don't prefer parboiled rice so the rice and red beans were not the best for me and were bland and dry. The chicken was ok, not too flavorful and some of the pieces were over fried to the point they were just crunchy skin and barely any meat. I really love the chicken here, and Adam O. hit a lot of points. It's true, the name outside says it is a supermarket, but inside, they've got less things on the shelves than a standard convenience store. The bar takes up more space and the people that comes to this supermarket comes here for the food - and primarily for the drumsticks that are cooked in humongous batches. 3 chicken for $2, 10 chicken for $6, and $1 for 6 pieces of plantains. Avoid the plantains - they're nothing special and reminiscent to tostones - but they're not the best tostones I've had in the city. The chicken does come with Haitian slaw - and man, that's spicy slaw! It doesn't go well with the tostones but it actually goes well with the chicken! I use it as a dressing for an extra punch. As for the chicken being the best in Miami... I find that kind of hard to say, simply because the chicken here tastes a lot like the chicken I've had at Mercy Supermarket, leading me to believe that it's a common type of chicken in various supermarkets throughout this ghetto part of town. Additionally, the chicken here was a bit greasy, but dab the grease away, it's still an awesome chicken - and it'll taste good even hours later! Of course, the sooner you eat it, the better. There's other Haitian standard items such as the griot. But this place is really all about the chicken. And the staff is friendly and helpful - they'll help you with the translation of some Kreyol items on the wall. Oh, and the atmosphere...? Never EVER again!! A friend and I went here Saturday. The window was closed since apparently that's what they do during the hotter months of the year, so you order your food inside the "market." We both felt as though we were standing at the portal of hell. There were flies everywhere, it was dark and dingy-looking inside, there was no A/C in sight and it was sweltering, and everything I tried to order was out. They were out of fried sweet potato, out of fried plantains, and out of french fries. The guy in front of me just walked out once they said they were out of fried plaintains. Speaking of the guy in front of me, he kept staring at my friend and I with this deep, longing stare like he was going to propose to us at any second. Then, there was a lady sitting behind us begging for money. We didn't notice, but the guy in front of us asks if we speak Creole and was like that lady wants you. So we turn around and we're like okay, we don't know what the heck she wants. He's like, oh, she wants $$. Pretty sure she wasn't homeless... Ok, so this is not that much of a shocker, but the lady at the counter didn't speak English. I speak some Creole, but I was totally not in multilingual mode, so after some tripping over my words, I start speaking more or less clearly and I get my point across. She was patient, so it's was not that serious. Howevverrrr, the place was just dying for a visit from the health inspector. I love a good hole-in the-wall, but this place was crawling with flies and I can't bear to finish my leftovers for fear of falling over and dying. For those of you who were in love with the fried chicken, as I was, and you're trying your hardest to second guess my change of heart, it's not even worth the risk because the chicken isn't even as flavorful as before. Just tastes like regular old fried chicken, which I don't like and never have liked. What they serve isn't proper Haitian Fried Chicken, since it isn't marinated in lime, garlic, scotch bonnet peppers (anymore?). Basically, you get fresh chicken legs battered and deep-fried to a solid crunch.Pretty much standard fried chicken. Simple, a little bland, but fresh and reasonably priced. The ladies working the counter/kitchen are the sweetest around, but if you're not a Kreyol speaker and/or Haitian, you will likely be ignored (out of shyness probably). Just speak up and catch one of their attention and they'll take care of you. I do wish that they had a steam-table with more Haitian stuff. But they know what most people come here for. read more

Dsspite yelp deciding that this was a grocery, it is not. It is a restaurant. This is the best fried chicken I have had since Harolds on the South Side of Chicago. Walk up to the window and you might have to wait a while, or even thrust your head in and announce yourself (probably works better if you speak creole). There is often a line here, but it is worth the wait. For $2 you can get three large drumsticks fried to a crispy golden, tender and juicy served with the hot Haitian slaw and plantains for $1 more. Definitely worth the trek. you can eat on the tailgate of your truck and watch life in little haiti go by as you savor the deliciousness. If you want juicy crispy Haitian style fried chicken (just breaded with flour and seasoned), this is the place to go. 6 pieces (all drumsticks) costs like $4. While chicken is what they do best, they usually have a few other Haitian staples like griot (fried pork) or whole fried fish.
