POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. This woman, who has an attitude like she owns the place overcharges for…read moreusing credit cards, telling me I need to pay $1 for anything under $5. While I know some small businesses want to pass on the cost to customers that cost has typically never been more than .80 cents. When I tried to tell her she said I'm being argumentative which I assure you I was not. I also attempted to see if she would accept other forms of payment since I typically don't carry cash, so I can avoid paying the fee. She didn't let me finish my sentence, and instead quickly turned from an already unfriendly person to a rude woman accusing me of being argumentative because I questioned why the fee they charge ME is higher than what they pay. This minority will not return.

They are barely scraping by and are considering closing shop. It's a lot of work for very little. Yes, they mark up prices on stamps and packages, but for what it costs you in time and gas to drive to Auburn PO, you can do business right out the gate for less inconvenience and expense. Their markups are tiny. I love their card assortment too! Very unique greetings for all occasions. Also, when I mail a package, they can look up all my info and expedite service. The lines at Auburn PO can be daunting. I hope you will consider supporting this business! They are worth it!!!

With that said, I'm puzzled how anyone would say the staff here is pleasant or personable. After living here a few years, I can confirm that the ladies working here only get more crotchety the older and fatter they become. You can tell from their dead eyed stares and the undisguised contempt in their voices that they wish they were doing anything other than customer service. As far being helpful, they will do the bare minimum they have to and treat it like an inconvenience. If you explicitly ask them to help with something they will stare at you like you ran over their dog and then do the opposite of what you asked just to spite you. They once took a piece of mail that said "do not bend" on it and folded it into quarters before shoving it into the box, despite the fact that it would have fit easily without bending it at all. The only thing they do well here is confirm the stereotype that postal employees are emotionally unstable malcontents that couldn't find work anywhere else.

The amount of packages and mail that streams through this tiny, understaffed post office must be enormous, yet I have rarely had any issues whatsoever with getting my mail and packages. I fail to comprehend why anyone would make disparaging remarks against the staff. I have witnessed customers be rude to these ladies which I found disgusting.

I've only used this post office to drop off packages on my way home from work. It's a convenient…read morelocation a few blocks from Hwy 65. I am always greeted warmly by the young woman who always seems to be there when I stop by (weekdays ~3-4pm). I've been to post offices where they don't scan the package initially and the recipient has no idea the package is on its way. Sometimes the package is not scanned until it's delivered. An employee at the Yuba City post office actually refused to scan my package at one point, saying I should have a receipt online of the tracking number. I explained that I don't need a receipt, just to get the package scanned for tracking. She assured me it would be scanned shortly. Of course it wasn't, and in the time she spent explaining this she could have scanned several packages. The point of this story is that at this Wheatland post office, they offer to scan the tracking barcode and give you a receipt which is nice.
