Very delicious lunch here. I hadn't been in several years but this used to be THE place for lunch in the area when it first opened. More casual, cheaper sibling to Pacifica Del Mar upstairs, on level 2 of the Del Mar Plaza. You can't reserve seats here and it can be busy at lunch. But we grabbed one as other people were vacating. Very tasty Sugar Spiced Salmon Torta, which came with a nice mixed green salad (with blue cheese and walnuts) for $15. Beautiful ocean view and nice patio. I also got a cappuccino for dessert - they use Lavazza coffee and it was extremely delicious. You order at the counter and then they bring to you. It took a bit of time - but you're here to enjoy the scenery anyway, so who's rushing? I need to remember to come here more often - it's beautiful and tasty - and they were very friendly! The salmon hash USED to be a five-star dish; now it's disappointing: softer, cubed potatoes, can-quality salmon mixed with heavy BBQ potato chip seasoning, and none of the feta, onions, cilantro, pleasant sweet flavor that USED TO make it great. The best thing about this place is the view in the outdoor seating area. Very casual environment. The menu selection was okay. Service was a bit slow. We ordered the cheeseburger and a croissant. The burger came before the croissant because they forgot about it. Even after we reminded them, it still took longer than necessary. The burger taste was average. But I found a few hard pieces of something in my burger - maybe it was bone or cartilage. If I am going to pay close to $17 for a burger, I shouldn't be biting into hard pieces of anything. The yam chips that came with the burger were okay. So the food was disappointing. We will find another place to eat in Del Mar next time. read more

This is a great spot for the view and to stay cool on a warm summer day. The patio is nicely shaded and there is plenty of seating. It is also dog friendly. You grab a menu at the register, check it out while you wait in line, then order and pay. They give you a number and call you to the bar if you're ordering coffee drinks, then they bring your food out to you. Food is decent and fairly good and very reasonably priced. You can get a lot of standard breakfast favorites, like avocado toast, eggs benedict, and other brunch foods. The fried chicken sandwich I had was quite tasty, with a napa cabbage slaw and pickles. All your favorite condiments like Sriracha, mustard, ketchup, mayo, Tabasco are available on a table inside. For a quick simple bite or a coffee and snack, you can't beat sitting outside at this spot. It's a great location and that's where all the value is, given that the food prices are quite reasonable for a town like Del Mar. read more

I was looking for something quick and easy in the area (in between appointments) and ended up at Pacifica Breeze Cafe. I visited in June 2021 and tried their Wild Mushroom Omelet (wild mushrooms, spinach, brie, and herb hollandaise). Food was pretty good but the location and views were amazing! Seriously good! The staff was friendly and helpful. My husband and I ordered the 2 eggs any style with potatoes and he got sausage and I got bacon. It tasted so fresh and was very good. We both got 2 coffees that tasted very good. You do have to serve yourself the coffee and water but I was surprised at how good it tasted. We also ordered a cappuccino to go and I got an iced vanilla latte with oatmilk. Very good and so happy with our choice. You get a nice ocean view and if the little town. Very quaint. They did however need more shade which is why I'm only giving 4 stars. They definitely wed to scatter the umbrellas they have a little more so it gives a little more shade on more tables. It was a nice sunny, clear day so it would've been nice to be in the shade so I'm not sweating while I eat. But overall when I found a little shade it was a nice day and a great place to eat! A local recommended the breakfast here, especially the breakfast sando. So off we go for a late breakfast on a lazy summer weekday morning. I had the Breakfast Breeze sando...heck yes, it was delicious. The place is a casual relaxed cafe. The outdoor dining patio had a distant view of the ocean. Hey, better than nothing. It is family friendly place. But since it is a popular place, it can get crowded. The Breeze Breakfast sando $11.50 came with potatoes sprinkled with crumbled Oaxaca cheese. The sandwich had a fried egg, apple wood smoked bacon, avocado, tomato bacon jam, and Oaxaca cheese on a potato bun. Delicious! It's a order and pay at the counter place. They give you a number holder stick and you choose your own seating. They have a few indoor tables, but primarily it is outdoor patio seating. They have a self serve cold case with a range of teas, smoothies, juices, milk, water, and sodas. The customer service was meh. I ordered coffee and didn't know the protocol. Apparently as you order coffee, they place your mug in the window to the left of the register overlooking the patio. No one told me that even though I told the cashier it was our first time her when I placed my order. When I went back up to the cashier (about 8 minutes later) to ask about my coffee, he then told me the protocol. But he tells me that I have to wait for a clean mug. They ran out and a washer load is running. Grr. read more

Not for vegetarians. Their menu said that breakfast was 9-12 and lunch was 12-3. We got there on the dot of 12 and I quickly looked over the menu and found a few breakfast items that were vegetarian, but when I tried to order I was told that breakfast was over and I'd have to order from the lunch menu. (It was 12 o'clock exactly). There was basically nothing other than salad or an acai bowl that wasn't meat centric. I got the acai bowl, which was very unexciting. It looked nice, but most of the fruit was cantaloupe and honeydew melons, which I don't like. My friend's meal looked better. But this place needs to add a few more vegetarian options. 3.5 stars Came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. They no longer offered the short rib hash which i saw in many older reviews. So Instead i went for the smoked pork shoulder hash, with scrambled eggs. It came on a bed of breakfast potatoes. The potatoes were good, they were the large hand cut potatoes, not the frozen deep-fried chunks, possibly red potatoes or something similar in size and taste. I liked that they were crispy, most times when you get large cut potatoes, they are just roasted, and don't have that crunchy crust on the outside, Pacifica managed to get the best of both worlds in their breakfast potatoes. The pork shoulder had a very nice flavor to them, i did wish there was more but overall all the ingredients went well together and the meal was very filling so the portion was actually right on. I also liked that they had a few different types of hot sauce to choose from. (sriracha, tapatio, cholula, and tabasco) Round 2 I also came for lunch one day after surfing, and got the Thai Chicken Wrap ($10) It was recommended by the guy behind the counter. It was pretty good, very fresh tasting, and good but not mind blowing. It came with a choice of yam chips or salad. I opted for the salad and glad i did. The Thai Chicken wrap tasted nice, i just wish there was more peanut sauce, next time i'll ask for an extra side of sauce to go with it. The salad was delicious and the perfect accompaniment to the wrap, it had fresh spinach, cranberries, walnuts, and feta cheese and was lightly tossed. Yummy, i'd order the salad by itself! Pacifica breeze cafe has a very open and casual, relaxed feel to it, you have a view of the ocean, and you get that nice ocean breeze (perfect name for the restaurant). There is mostly patio seating to take advantage of the view and great San Diego weather as well as a few seats inside. They do offer coffee, beer, mimosas and a few mixed drinks, but i think a full bar is available. Its a great place to kick back and relax, and also dog friendly. read more

Open hours are not legit. Food is okay - not good, not great - WHEN they are serving the public but good luck figuring out when they are open. They have a tiny market of goods (wines, cheese plates), but even if you go during open hours they may be having 'an event' so will not serve you. I just came from such an experience with maybe 20 people in the resto. I'm happy to wait, but telling me no, you can't do any service really says that your staff at totally taxed out at 20 patrons. So ... you're not on the ball with the concept of service. No one had been offensive or outwardly rude, but I have been rejected during normal business hours 40% of all the times I have tried to get their prepared food. Worst local market ever. A great hidden gem at Del Mar Plaza. We love Pacifica (miss the mushroom chowder so much though) and recently walked past the Breeze Cafe. They have a sort of build your own nachos which is so amazing. The cheese sauce is light and the chips airy. Guacamole and salsa fresca are made fresh and are full of flavor. Jo l opted for the fresh seafood ceviche which they put on the side. It was loaded with fresh shrimp, octopus, and scallops and he really liked it. Each item ranges between $1-$5 and overall our nachos cost us less than $10 each. There are also items to add on such as fresh jalepenos, pulled pork and Elote (which they did not have today so it means we must go back ). Drinks are reasonably priced and they have a good variety of beer, specialty drinks, canned drinks, and a full bar. Staff is very nice and personable as well. Can't complain about the view from the outdoor deck either. All in all a great place to relax and hang out. Good food and good people! read more

Came for breakfast on a Friday morning for the first time in a long time and was very pleased with both the food and the service! The avocado toasts were huge and bursting with flavor! Only recommendation is to toast the bread a bit more so it's easier to cut up, or alternatively, cut it in 3-4 pieces in the kitchen. The veggie omelette was fresh and perfectly cooked with lots of spinach. The eggs Benedict was delicious! It was a little different in that it was nested on homemade biscuit which was flaky and tasty! Love the outdoor patio for the fresh air and the view. Our food and drinks came out pretty quickly and the runners checked with us twice to make sure we were satisfied. I'll definitely come back again soon! read more

According to my wife, it was incredibly tranquil and a great start to her day also, enough said. The format requires that you order at the counter and then they deliver your food to the table. So, make sure you secure your table first. I ordered the breakfast burrito, which was plenty big, filled with goodness and tasty, "B+" grade. Did I mention that they serve alcohol? If you're looking for a outdoor casual beach atmosphere breakfast spot, look no further. Though I don't think it is the best breakfast in Del Mar, it is hard to find such a casual (and relatively well priced) spot, which is what I am typically looking for. I am fond of the eggs Benedict with bacon instead of ham. I typically get that and a black tea and enjoy the outdoor setting with a great ocean breeze. You won't be waited on hand and foot here, but you can get the beach atmosphere without the Del Mar price. (Also, they validate!) read more

I like the new menu and renovation but overall, the experience was kind of meh. You have to wait a long time to get your food which comes from the Pacifica kitchen upstairs. All of the food we ordered (vegan wrap, caesar salad side, Asian cabbage salad) was just ok. It's as if something was a little off with each dish. Vegan wrap: some leafy vegetable inside of it was really "stringy" and tough to check/break off from the rest of the wrap; needed spice Ceasar salad side: WAY too much dressing Asian Cabbage Salad: could have used a little less dressing and more crunchy toppings. You can't go wrong with their yam chips. Although when we first ordered we were told they were out of! Thankfully, they brought us a fresh batch later which was very nice. Sadly, a lot of the food in Old Del Mar just isn't very good. Menu items sound exciting, but when you get it, the food is just ok. I feel confident in saying this because I lived there for over 20 years and I've seen restaurants come and go, and some restaurants stay forever. I was hoping they would bring back their old veggie wrap from a million years ago with the new menu, but sadly not the case. We have been going to this cafe for many years, and has always been a favorite. At 1:20pm, ordered two Thai Chicken Wraps with Yam Chips, and Tropical Iced Tea's (same order every time). The staff said they were out of Tropical Iced Tea, and the wrap, unlike previous times, was stuffed full of rice, had one piece of mango, and little chicken. To compare, in the past, there was little rice, much more chicken, and more mango. The Yam chips, unsure what happened, but either cooked differently, little taste, and not worth getting. This is different, as of even less that two months ago, during last visit. As far as the Passion Iced Tea, it is a favorite, and since the food comes from the kitchen upstairs (Pacifica Restaurant), the staff could have gotten a pitcher of tea from there since they are open until 9pm, or simply made more, being it was 1:20pm. What we have noticed is the volume of customers is much lower than on previous occasions, and the restaurant appears to be cutting corners. Hope it gets better, as this has always been a top favorite restaurant of ours. read more

By far one of the worst lunch breakfast spot I've ever had. To start off my girlfriend wanted to try a new spot so we picked Pacific Breeze cafe. We walk in and everything is self serve which is fine. The issue starts when I try to order a mimosa and I give them my government issued ID. They take it back and chat about it and then come back and say they can't serve me as they can't authenticate it which is fine whatever it wasn't worth bantering about it. I sit down with my girlfriend and wait an exhaustingly long time for our food, and it's also not like there was a long line of people waiting for food, the place was half full with most people already served. We get served and I kid you not I am given my burger with "fries" which literally was the scraps of the fryer. Included were chunks of breading, a literal black burnt fry, and stubs of fries, it wasn't even enough to fill a child. The chicken sandwich which included pickles and coleslaw did not include them. No pickles were to be seen and the "coleslaw" was just diced cabbage with a splash of vinegar. At this point I'm already agitated by the long wait time and mediocre food display, not even given napkins or offered by waitress. I went to grab napkins and come back to wipe my girlfriend's face and after my girlfriend tells me how the waitress saw and gave my girlfriend a dirty look. The food was mediocre, not to mention you have to go up to get your own water from a water dispenser?? As well as getting your own utensils, condiments, salt and pepper etc, that's not bad until you consider where this restaurant is, you would at least expect some professionalism or a lick of customer service. The view was alright, the service was a terrible. I would heavily recommend staying away from this establishment as customer service is not even in their list of priorities, they seem like they could care less. read more
