Went for their soft reopening on a Friday at 6pm in August. What an amazing treat! If you are a tiki enthusiast or appreciate vintage nostalgia this is the place. So much great decor and great drinks. Staff was amazing. Everyone from Elle greeting us upon arrival, the security guard, to the bartenders and even spoke with a manager there who gave us a brief history tour, everyone was so awesome!! Really bummed we forgot almost every single name, but hey I blame the alcohol. :) Even got take a peek inside Clifton's since we had never been there before. I really hope this entire place comes back to its full glory. Although I'm not a fan of crowds, this may have been the best way to experience the place before the crowds come back. Either way I'm glad I got to come during the soft reopening. Thanks Pacific Seas!!

For me, this is as close to the perfect tiki bar there is in Socal. From the secret door entrance and decor. To the drinks, food, service and entertainment. Unfortunately, they still aren't open often enough for my druthers and the bathrooms are way too dark.

This is a cool tiki bar, but the inconvenience of going through Clifton (the waits at the Clifton entrance AND Pacific Seas entrance once inside, as well as the $20 cover charge on a Saturday) in order to get to this bar and lounge on the 4th floor, along with the overpriced drinks inside Clifton, take away from the overall experience and make it far less appealing. That being said, visiting Clifton for the first time was kind of cool (exploring the quirky and mysterious decor and props, a maze of displays floor after floor), but yeah, lots of waiting here, club atmosphere with LA vibes... not my cup of tea... nice to have experienced it once though.  Pacific Seas on its own has a pretty great setup, diverse seating options, plenty of space (as they limit the number of people just on that floor), beautiful lighting and unique themed decor, even a boat right in the middle. Note, there are a lot of stairs here, and a lot of standing/waiting (for sure on the weekends, don't know about other days).

The drinks were tasty. We loved the decor, music and overall vibe of PS and Clifton's in general. Our table was ready at our reservation time and we were not rushed out. Drinks are a little pricey, but they're well crafted. Looking forward to going back and enjoying other parts of Clifton's!

We enjoyed our visit to Pacific Seas immensely. The decor and ambience is exceptional. The appetizers we tried were delicious-pork skewers, corn fritters, edamame and French fries. The corn fritters and fries were outstanding. The mai tai's were strong with a good flavor. We were there early on the first night of food service. The staff was friendly and working hard to please. We will definitely return especially as other rooms open.

I've been hearing about Pacific Seas since it's opening and on speakeasy lists as well. As a fan of Clifton's, I had been meaning to go for months and finally had the opportunity one Saturday night after dinner for a nightcap. Upon entering Clifton's (and missing the cafeteria *wipes tear from eye*), it becomes a "where's Waldo" to find the magic mirror door to find entry! It takes awhile and I refer to my handy Yelp app (*no I don't get commission for the shout out*), but I then find the magic mirror that opens up to a black staircase. And can hear '40s style music echoing from the top of the stairs. At the top, voila! A dimly lit, 1940s' sounding, Pacific vintage (WWII) artifact encompassing tiki bar awaits your presence as you make your way around to the bar to choose your Poison. With the Singapore Sling as my choice, I seated myself in a Cosy corner taking a look at the small food menu (very salty and pricy), while shortly being approached thereafter if I'd like to order anything (I declined). A great, cozy little bar to hang out (with friends) & experience the heart of the vintage vibe DTLA has to offer at its historic theater district on Broadway. I do recommend it, for it's vintage novelty!

First off, I have to praise 1933 group because I have loved every single bar they have revitalized and this one is no different. In keeping with their MO, The Lucky Tiki is a speakeasy with a vintage vibe. I won't give away how to get in but let's just say, it's near the front of Highland Park Bowl. My husband and I didn't have a reservation, but we were able to put our name in and got seated about an hour or so later. I was amazed as soon as I walked in the door! It's just floor to ceiling decorated with everything tiki. So many fun details and even interactive elements that turn on when a particular drink was ordered. That was probably my favorite part honestly. We ordered the Tiki Diablo, which is a large tiki drink with a flaming volcano. And yes it does have an interactive element. It was really good. Very fruity and strong, but not overly so. Service was excellent. Our waitress was on it and even waited to make sure my husband was back from the bathroom before lighting our drink on fire. We didn't try any food this time, but a lot of people were ordering the Hawaiian pizza. Do with that what you may. Will definitely be back ti try more drinks and food. Was the perfect spot for a lively date night!

How about instead of accepting $$$ for a private event that will deny customers their reservation, they make the private event work around what is available? Terrible way of doing business, but I hope they get lots of $$$ and engagement for the privileged private event attendees.

We came in on a whim around 9PM on a Friday night. The bar was packed, but thankfully there wasn't a line out the door. After heading in we found a sliver of standing room in a corner to order a couple drinks. After about twenty minutes a couple at the bar left and we were able to snag some chairs. The atmosphere and ambience is decent. There are neat decorations and trinkets everywhere. The music was a playlist of random music which isn't really my thing. There were two bartenders working who were friendly and prompt. The price point is fine around $15 per drink. I was very underwhelmed by their rum and cocktail program, though. I suppose given the history and hype of the bar I was expecting much more. They don't use fresh juices, everything is from bottles and cans (think Tropicana), their garnishes are all the same and taste a little off (maybe they're assembled way ahead of time and taste old?), and their rum selection is alright depending on the cocktail you order, but can also be lackluster, too. Overall, it was cool to finally check out Tiki Ti, but it was a one-and-done for me.

It was FANTASTIC. Our server, Isaiah, was absolutely amazing and on top of things, refilling our water before we even hit half glass. Not to mention his energy and vibe was so welcoming and fun. We got the PuPu platter for two, came out within minutes, I could spend the rest of my life eating that alone. Isaiah recommended his favorite sauces, Garlic Chive and Chipotle Citrus, they were amazing. We got the shrimp and lobster roll, I officially entered heaven. The Isles of Club sandwich was the finishing touch that had me laughing from joy. Near the end of our dining we meant Max, another server, who is absolutely fantastic, brought us everything we needed, boxes, sauce containers, bags, to-go dessert. The front of the building is a little vaguely marked, and the entrance has speakeasy vibes, which was a surprise. Upon walking in the front door, there is some tiki décor and a small counter in the rear. I remember thinking to myself "what the heck, this is it?". I checked in at the host stand on the left, and was handed me a boarding pass. She then led us through a hidden door behind what looked like a shipping crate. We were now in the real Broken Compass. The interior is a good size. The two-sided bar seats around a dozen. There is a lounge side of the bar that has two large booths along the wall, and another area with comfortable looking couches and lounge chairs. The main dining room has some tiki hut booths, and two sections of tables with half booth and half chair. The décor is pretty extensive with a good mix of pirate, nautical, and tiki themes. There is a lot of bamboo, thatch, rope, cargo netting, skulls and skeletons, port holes, octopus tentacles, jellyfish, tiki lights, and more. The ceiling is dark with various nautical and pirate markings, and even tied up ship sails overhead. The tiki hut booths have the parrots from the enchanted tiki room above them. Even the two restrooms are nautical themed, with beach and marine sounds playing. There is a lot of great décor to look at. We arrived around 2pm on a Sunday, so it wasn't very busy yet. By the time we left a few hours later, it was starting to get busy. We decided to sit at the bar. We started out with the buffalo cauliflower ($14) for an afternoon snack. The serving size was generous, and the buffalo sauce had a good tang. It was served with some sauces, and was surprisingly filling. A nice feature of the cocktail menu is that each drink displays one to three compass stars to indicate the strength of the drink. Their cocktails use a great variety of liquors including ones you don't often see. Many of the ingredients are made in-house. I started out with Chupacabra's Vacation (Demerara Rum, Jamacian Rum, Pomegranate Reduction, Cinnamon, Lime Juice, Bitters, two-star boozy rank, $17). It is served with a flaming lime on top and a little fire show. It was balanced with a light booziness, some light pomegranate flavor, and a cinnamon sprinkle on top. She started out with the Bittersweet Paradise (Jamacian Rum, White Rum, Campari, Passionfruit Syrup, Lemon, Lime, Pineapple, two-star boozy rank, $18). It didn't drink boozy at all, and was passion fruit forward, with light bitterness. My second cocktail was the Bermuda Dune Buggy (Gin, Overproof Rum, Kumquat Liqueur, Cassis, Orange, Lime, Bitters, two-star boozy rank, $18). It had a very unique garnish of a Chartreuse infused gummy which was delicious. The drink was nicely balanced, and didn't really drink boozy even with overproof rum in it. They have a rotating monthly cocktail and she tried the Tropic Like It's Hot (Coconut Washed Lemongrass Infused Rum, Mango, Lemon, Coconut Water, Amaro, $17) which was created by one of our bartenders Daniel. It was served in a Spam can and was light and refreshing with a nice pop of fruit at the start, and a very nice coconut flavor. We enjoyed sitting at the bar and had great conversation with our bartenders Daniel and Monica. They also provided excellent service. Broken Compass supports payment with the InKind app which gives you 20% back (10% on Friday and Saturday) in InKind cash. We had a really great time here, and the drinks, food, décor, and atmosphere were excellent. I purchased a Hork (Horse-shaRK) mug for $50 to bring home as a souvenir. We would definitely return again when in the area.

It takes place mostly in their rear patio area and parking lot, but a good number of vendors were also in an adjacent air conditioned event room. They have a very small parking lot, but it was occupied by vendors during this event. Do not park in the parking lots of the adjacent businesses, as we were warned when entering the Tonga Hut that cars get towed regularly. There's plenty of street parking in the nearby neighborhood. Entering from the rear, there is a good sized covered patio with around eight benches. We went inside to check it out and grab a drink. The interior is fairly small with four good sized booths, a lounge area with a large J-shaped couch with several small tables, and around ten seats at the bar. It is dimly lit with some basic tiki décor, and has an old-school feel. They had a fixed cocktail menu for this event which is understandable. We stood in line at the bar for about ten minutes, got our drinks and went out to the patio. The bartender was friendly, and didn't seem flustered by the high volume of patrons. I had the Horned Beast O' The Celtic Sea (Oceanus Hibernicus Irish Malt, Jamacian Rum, House Made Falernum & Orgeat, Peach, Citrus, Dash of Cherry Heering, $13). She had the Leprechaun Grog (Three Rums, Lime, Grapefruit, Honey, Spice, Soda, $14). Both drinks were good, were served in souvenir plastic cups, and were a bargain at $13 to $14. If you ordered a drink containing Oceanus whiskey, the bartender gave you a gold coin and you could exchange it with the Oceanus representative on the patio for a free T-shirt. Durango Tacos was setup near the rear entrance for food. We had four tacos (two carne asada and two veggie), and they were good and reasonably priced. This was the first tiki marketplace we have attended. There were around twenty vendors with a good assortment of art work, tiki mugs, tiki clothing, tiki décor, and other miscellaneous items. I purchased a few nice tiki shirts which were a steal at $20 and $25. The vendors and visitors were all very friendly and in a festive mood. We hung out for about ninety minutes and had a good time. We will return at some point to try their regular cocktail menu and see what it's like on a non-event night.

**BUYER BEWARE** My…read morerating is 1 star for a reason. I consider myself very objective when I rate an establishment. And everything I am sharing on this review is specifically my experience. Other people may have a different experience, and I do not discount the validity of that at all. I just want to point out that this is a recounting of my personal experience. Firstly, this was my first time coming to this bar, and without question my last. I, and a group of friends who are all DTLA residents came to this bar for karaoke night. We love karaoke and it really is a shared experience that we all enjoy. Except, when karaoke started promptly at 8-ish pm, the KJ (Karaoke Jockey) announced some "house rules". One of which was "NO MUSICALS", and then he followed this up with "especially DISNEY MUSICALS". First of all, karaoke is supposed to be a fun activity of self-expression. Meanwhile, the KJ has arbitrarily decided to disallow a whole genre of music! Also, this bar claims to be LGBT friendly. What is more LGBT inclined than karaoke that includes musical theatre? I met one of the proprietors of the establishment and commented about this. Her response was, "just come on a different night when we have a different KJ that is ok with musicals". To this, I nodded and just smiled and said "yeah, that sounds great!". But to be honest, that was even more reason for me to decide not to ever come back to this bar. The KJ is not the star of the show, the participants are. I recommend you should advertise that MUSICALS ARE NOT ALLOWED so we do not waste our time coming here. Secondly, I would recommend that you not keep a tab open at this bar. I did, and when I closed my tab, I was surprised to see that I was charged $50++ for three drinks!?! Mind you that two of those were drinks I ordered during happy hour. I pointed it out to the bartender and after she reviewed the charge, she changed it to $39! I did not even question how that happened so, after checking everything I decided that it was correct and proceeded to finalize the charge. Meanwhile, the bar staff was humorously mentioning that thanks to her I was being charged correctly, so to show my gratitude I should tip her 25%. Seriously...you wanted to be rewarded for correcting an "error" that I had to point out? I gave her the 25%. Because frankly, with the tip, it was still a smaller charge than what it would have been with the padded bill. I work hard for my money. And I do not like it when businesses are careless about taking it from me. Bottom line, 1 star for the fun factor. But between the regulated karaoke, and bill padding...this bar is a no for me.

LOVEDDDD! We came here for my friends bday last night. It was so much fun. It was dark but not too…read moredark. The upstairs did have different music from the downstairs but they both played really good music. My friends and I had to go up and down. The bar made my drinks really well. Majority of the people were in their mid 20s to early 30s. No one was rude or belligerent. I loved how security was on top of things. Shoutout to those guys because I felt super safe at the bar.

General Lee's is a hip two-level cocktail lounge located in the heart of historic Chinatown (within…read moreChinatown Central Plaza). [Parking]: Metered parking wasn't super easy to find and I had to park two blocks away (near intersection of Yale St & W College St) from Chinatown Central Plaza. [Event]: General Lee's is best known for hosting weekday Hong Kong style Mahjong night (sponsored by Mahjong Underground) and please check the IG page for the exact date (e.g. February 2026 was every Wednesday and March 2026 is every Monday). No RSVP is required and our party just simply walked in at 8 PM sharp. Free admission, but 21+ only. [Pro tip]: Please come as early as the cocktail lounge can get pretty crowded within 15 minutes of opening time (8 PM). Otherwise Mahjong tables will be taken up pretty quickly. [Experience]: There were 7 beginner tables on the 2nd level and 9 advanced table on the 1st level. The lounge had DJ playing music so the lounge can get a bit loud. The beginner tables had two laminated pages on how to read Mahjong tiles and how to play Hong Kong style Mahjong. The players at the beginner tables were friendly and our table played open-hand, but it would be great if an actual instructor can teach us more advanced rules. Restroom (unisex) was quite clean. [Conclusion]: Expect packed crowd on Mahjong nights with friendly Mahjong players, but this is not exactly the best place to really learn how to play Mahjong. I see this lounge as more of a place to socialize with other strangers.
