Dr Eastman is truly the best! Feel so lucky to have a doctor who is such a joy to see, and so clearly cares deeply about our child. The office is also generally very good about responding after hours and making sure the doctor on call answer's immediately or calls you back promptly. read more

Dr. Hamilton did our sons circumcision - he is a great doctor and did a good job. However, their office staff double billed for the operation and won't refund our money. I would stay away from this office - the assistant said they don't accept insurance and charged us the full bill $475 + $150 booking fee. After they took our money, Pacific Ocean filed an insurance claim with my insurance provider - Aetna. Now their office is refusing to refund my full payment. This is a shady practice - If I did not catch the insurance claim then the doctor would have collected twice the funds for one operation. read more

Dr. Hamilton has been an amazing pediatrician for our family. As first-time parents, we always felt comfortable and supported--he's patient, kind, and takes the time to really listen and explain things. We always felt like our son was in great hands. We're moving out of the area and honestly wish we could take him with us! Highly recommend to any family looking for a thoughtful, trustworthy doctor. read more

Not sure how this practice has such good reviews. I know 5 moms who have had their kids seen by (specifically) Dr. Hamilton and were appalled by his horrible bedside manner and care. He's extremely aggressive and pushy. He grabbed my newborns head and turns it so firmly and it made me very unconfortable. He aggressively touched my sons genitals without explaining what he was doing and started pulling his foreskin back without any of our consent or explanation of what he was going to do. Just horrible medical care and I hope if this happens to anyone else's baby that they report it. I saw Dr. Maroof after my son was born and she was extremely rude. She came to visit after my son was born and my lactation consultant was at my bedside and she acted extremely cold and inconvenienced since she had to wait for the LC to leave. I called the emergency line once when my son wasn't urinating 24 hours after being home and she scolded me and was so rude over the phone and told me that I should have known to have formula on hand if my milk hadn't transitioned yet. As a first time mom this isn't the care I was looking to have so I found an amazing new pedicatrician and will never look back. The only doctor at Pacific Ocean we had good experiences with is Dr. Woo or Eastman. Unfortunately Dr. Woo is only there certain Fridays of the month and Dr. Eastman seemed a "new" as a doctor so we decided to part ways from Pacific Ocean. I hope these experiences haven't happened to anyone else or if they do, I hope people speak up about them. read more

During the COVID pandemic, the communication we receive from Pacific Ocean Pediatrics is more informative and concise than anything we hear from the federal or state government. Our primary physician is Dr. Salyer and she's always up front with us about each stage of our child's development. Dr. Hamilton runs a podcast, The Hamilton Review. It's great as long as you weren't hoping to hear about the blockbuster musical. read more

Vindictive attitude!!!! We had left the country for most of the year and I had explained the reason why I didn't want to leave the credit card on file for the $500 yearly administrative fee and when I called to schedule an appointment a rude front desk gave the verdict that " i am not a good fit for the practice". I have to admit we weren't impress with the office since the beginning but we loved our pediatrician ever since we met at Cedar Sinai and we decided to follow her. I hope our doctor leaves this practice! It is not a good fit for her either! It's not all about money, sometimes it about compassion! read more

The best pediatric office ever! Our daughter saw both Dr Eastman and Dr Salyer and we had fantastic experiences with both. Can't recommend them highly enough. They are both so supportive and knowledgeable about all things. Our daughter had some feeding issues in the beginning and a string of intense sicknesses when she started daycare, and they were always responsive and on top of it. Also very supportive to you as the parents. It's so easy to get sick appointments, and the receptionists are lovely. We just moved to the East Coast and we are so so sad to leave them. read more

Dr. Hamilton and his team at Pacific Ocean Pediatrics are the best in town! Dr. Leian Chen is our baby's pediatrician, and we have been beyond happy with our experience. As first-time parents, we have lots of questions and she always finds the time to answer them - both at appointments and via email/phone. I can easily see the nurses, staff, and doctors genuinely care about the patients and families. Making appointments is easy, and we enjoy seeing everyone's smiles and how they care for our baby. We feel fortunate to be patients at Pacific Ocean Pediatrics. I would confidently recommend Dr. Chen to anyone looking for a very caring and highly trained pediatrician! read more

There are so many concerns and worries with having babies and kids in west LA that I'm extra grateful to have found Dr. Salyer, Dr. Hamilton and the rest of the doctors at Pacific Ocean Pediatrics. I was a particularly anxious first time parent, and the docs at POP were able to put my mind at ease. It wasn't just their level of education and expertise, but they offer a depth of experience that's tied to a broader world view. Dr. Hamilton has 6 kids of his own. I don't know if this is true, but I feel that their philosophy combines the latest medical and child development information, with practical, real world wisdom and application. Despite being one of the most popular pediatric offices in the area, the docs there always give you the attention you need. Dr. Salyer was able to diagnose a minor ear growth in my son that would've caused long term deafness had she not caught it. I truly loved that she could go down the hall and ask her dad for a 2nd opinion. My annual visits there always puts my mind at ease. I highly recommend this office. read more

Though I may not agree with Dr. Hamilton's view about children returning to school I do know he's the best pediatrician in Santa Monica and one of the best in Southern California. I refuse to put my own beliefs before the health of my children. Dr. Bob has been simply amazing in meeting the health and emergency health needs of my children. Moreover, his staff always greets my children warmly. Plus, I had changed insurance and there was a problem that his billing office helped straighten out after many hours on the phone with my insurance company. All this is to say I refuse to have a knee jerk reaction and compromise the medical care my children will receive. read more

Woooow I just called to make an appointment for my daughter and I was told by Kim that there's a new patient fee that's not covered by any insurance of $400+ to be part of their group????!!!! I have never heard of that in my life. Just an FYI. read more

I love Dr Hamilton. I am so proud that he is my daughter's pediatrician. Best Dr ever! Xoxo

Dr Bob and Dr Salyer saw my newborn in the hospital, since the pediatrician I'd chosen wasn't affiliated with St John's. When I had an urgent concern with my daughter at just a few days old, my ped's office brushed me off and just said to go to the ER if she developed a high fever. I called Pacific Ocean and Casey put me on the phone with Dr Bob immediately. Dr Bob researched my question, called me back, and saw my baby first-thing the next morning. And all this happened before my baby was even enrolled as a patient in the practice. It is totally worth driving to Santa Monica for this kind of peace of mind. As a first-time parent, it's so important to have a doctor who takes my concerns seriously and whose advice I trust. Dr Bob has 6 kids and I feel confident in both his medical expertise and practical knowledge. I haven't had any other urgent issues come up, but I appreciate that I can call the on-call doctor if needed and that they offer Saturday appointments. read more

We went to see Dr Chen and were overall happy with her. She was meticulous and I really liked the nurses. The office staff seem a bit overworked and it took a number of instances to transfer our records when we moved. When we return to LA, we will not be returning though. It does not seem Dr Hamilton understands the value of overall community health issues and mixes politics with health advocacy. read more

It's been a crazy time, and some very emotional experiences, and we got very lucky to meet Dr. Marouf. Not only is she extremely patient, but she is loving, and never lets you down. We appreciate her so much, and wanted to make it known. She is truly an asset to the practice!! read more

Dr. Chen is our family's pediatrician and I truly can't sing her praises enough! She is always extremely knowledgeable and up to do date on the latest studies/information. No matter how swamped their office may appear DR. Chen is always calm, kind and makes sure to answer every question we have and never makes us feel rushed. We have seen every other doctor in the practice and I can honestly say that they are all wonderful. If for whatever reason we cannot get in to see Dr. Chen the same day, the front office staff is always extremely accommodating and squeezes us in with whoever is available. They have excellent in office communication, so even if you do end up having to see another pediatrician there is nothing that falls through the cracks. We had some out of the ordinary health issues with our youngest when she was just 2 weeks old, the timing coincided with the holidays, but it made no difference. Dr Chen called to check in with us on New Year's Day, and the entire office made us feel supported and taken care of. Especially Nurse David, he's absolutely incredible and our kids never freak out when he gives them their shots. He remembers their nicknames and always makes sure to give use extra stickers for the car ride home! Fantastic practice!!! read more

My daughters have been seen by doctor Hamilton for the past 5.5 years. At first we thought Dr.Hamiltons office was great. Until he began pushing to expand his business and adding a product line. However we ignored it due to dr.Hamilton being a "great" doctor. He then began rushing through our visits. One visit he actually made my daughter vomit with his tongue depressor by jamming it in her throat, due to his urge to jump to the next client. Zero bedside manner. We decided to try his other doctors in the office. After rotating through all of the doctors, we decided to try Dr.Hamilton again due to an unpleasant experience with a previous doctor in his office. Well...Dr.Hamilton decided to brush my wife off as if she was an over protective mother. He stated my daughter needs to go back to school and she can't live in a bubble. My wife wanted a second opinion so we went to another doctor office. This doctor right away said her breathing was not normal. She ordered a soft neck XRay on our first visit. What did the X-ray show? Swollen tonsils as well as swollen and enlarged adenoids. She is now waiting her next appointment with an ENT (Ear Nose and Throat specialist). So if my wife and I took Dr.Hamilton AND DR.EASTMANS advice, who knows what could have happened to our daughter in the middle of the night. All because of pride, ego, and God only knows what el$e. Avoid this doctor office if you really care about your childrens health SINCE THEY DON'T CARE!!! read more

We have a newborn and 3 year old both seen by Dr Hamilton and Dr. Marouf. Care has always been excellent and Dr Hamilton is probably the best pediatrician in LA. He can immediately recognize any issue with children due to his experience. He was able to immediately diagnose a health condition with my first as a newborn. Their 24 hour on call service is a life saver and I've never been turned away for same day appts. I also can get quick call backs and telephone health calls. Highly suggest this practice. read more

The Drs here really care about their patients. I've had the dr on call meet me off hours on TWO different occasions to pop my kid's elbow back in the socket. They could have easily sent me to urgent care, but instead made themselves available. You can always get a same day appt if you need it, and they're open on Saturdays which is a big help to working parents. read more

LOVE all the doctors at this practice. Dr. Chen is our daughters primary physician, however we have seen other doctors on her days off or on Saturdays and I really hav had great experiences with all of them. whenever I have emailed dr. chen after hours or during work hours, she always calls back and emails back pretty quickly. they always have doctor on call that answers the phone at any time of the night. I can't recommend this practice more. I recently moved 20-30 min away and will continue to drive here (new baby on the way)! read more

Dr Hamilton and his team have always provided outstanding, personal care for my now 11 and 15 year olds, from birth. He returns phone calls himself even on busy days, goes out of his way to squeeze you in in emergencies, and is down to earth. A calm guide is what you want in a pediatrician, whether your kids are prone to illness and bumps or generally healthy, and that's what he provides. As a parent, I don't let politics guide my choice in medical care, and I would imagine your children's health is too important to do so too. If character is important, take a look at the work he does for the poorest and most vulnerable in Africa and Latin America. read more

We love our son's Pediatrician, Dr. Marouf. She is amazing, caring, very detailed, and always answers our questions without judgment or hesitations. Dr. Hamilton preformed our son's circumcision at the hospital the day after his birth. Everything went perfect and our son healed nicely. The staff and other doctors are great, friendly, and always there to help us. Highly recommended!! Our son is now 14 months old read more

My kids have been patients of Dr. Bob's since my first child was born in 2013. We've never had a bad experience. He's calm, knowledgeable, and great with our kids. Over the past 7 years, we've probably seen or spoken with all the doctors and nurses at one point or another, and the whole team is nice and professional. If I've ever needed to speak with a doctor after hours, we have never had to wait long and they've even answered emails with photos when we haven't been able to get in to see someone. Highly recommend their office and thankful I have Dr. Bob as my child's doctor! read more

Do not go to this practice! Did not have a good experience with Dr Chen OR Dr Hamilton! Dr Hamilton ripped off my son's STILL HEALING cicumsicion SCAB after I asked him when it would heal. I admire the doctors at this medical center. They give caring and intelligent attention to the medical needs of kids and their parents.

Since our son was born and Dr Bob came over to the hospital to examine him we've been having our kids see Dr Hamilton and Dr Salyer. When any of my children, nieces, or nephews have had any sort of medical emergency the doctors at POP have been there. I recommend this practice to everyone who has a child. read more

When I had my first child in 2008, I was cocky. I had so many younger cousins, started babysitting when I was 12, and took care of my half brothers when they were born when I was 19 and 21. I thought I had all the skills I needed to do the whole mothering/parenting thing. HA! Boy, did I have it wrong. I had spent so much time researching my high risk pregnancy, that I hadn't thought much of researching the afterwards...I was arrogant, remember? So when my ob/gyn asked me, on the operating table, who our pediatrician was, I didn't notice his confused look. The one I had chosen, on the other side of the city, didn't have 'rights' at the hospital I was in. "No problem," he reassured me, once I grasped what was going on. "I know a great one." The next day, sure enough, the most amazing doctor came to check my precious newborn. All those hormones, recovery from an emergency c-section, and exhaustion from over 6 hours of pushing, and I was a wreck. Enter Dr. Hamilton, pediatrician. He was genuinely happy for me and Mr. MuffinTop, and even gave our baby a kiss as he held him, just like a family member visiting would do. A big thank you to Dr Bob Hamilton and his amazing staff at Pacific Ocean Pediatrics!

Dr. Bob is a great guy and compassionate doctor but if you have a child on the autism spectrum do NOT select this practice.

We love our doctors and we love this practice. My children's wonderful pediatrician is Dr. Salyer, who provides sound and compassionate advice and support to my children. Since the morning she first held our baby girl Alejandra in the hospital- with magical ease and total proficiency, my husband and I were extremely happy she was our doctor (and in total awe:) Besides her thorough care and follow up, she also happens to be extremely easy to communicate with and makes you feel more like friend than patient. And as much as we love seeing her, we have seen all other doctors at this practice (due to two children under 4 who get sick lots!) and have always felt safe and cared for. Alejandra who's 4 and Joaquin who's 18 months have always been given excellent treatment and have been treated with much warmth and concern. As far as an overall feel from the staff, if anything I have felt they pulled more towards the side of caution, being overly careful and concerned. Seeing my baby everyday to make sure his oxygen levels were up before a big trip, getting an email from Dr. Salyer asking if the baby is doing any better after having seen him... I believe a good practice is one where the doctors do everything in their power to help your family get through hard times of illness (or good times of health and growth.) A place where your voice is never ignored and a part of the dialogue when it comes to the health of your children. A staff who do their best at providing a place that feels friendly and familiar for your kids.... whether that means big smiles in the waiting room, nurses who do their best at giving your toddler's shots as fast as they can so they cry less, or making sure everyone leaves with a sticker or lollypop. The staff here remember who we are. I have happily recommended this practice to several families who in turn, feel the same. Dr. Salyer always writes back after sending her an email message. Even when I'm traveling far away from home, I have called the doc on hand who can calm me down if my baby happens to have a bad cough or got hives after eating too many strawberries. I like that the doctors here would rather wait a couple days after symptoms begin before dishing out the antibiotics, it might mean two visits instead of one, but it also means they're trying to properly diagnosis a patient, not just 'fix' a situation. I appreciate that Dr. Salyer sat and smiled each time I asked a ton of questions I already knew the answer too when vaccinating my first baby. I'm glad when Dr. Chen speaks calmly to me about a worrisome fever. They care and it's part of their office culture-- you can tell. Doctors aren't magicians. They're people and professionals. What's most important is that you can trust the people handling the health of your children. That you don't feel like a number. That the doctors treat your children like they would their own. I can definitely say, that's the case at Pacific Ocean Pediatrics. We're going on almost 5 years at this practice and we are grateful for the care our babies have received in these amazing first years. read more

Nothing like paying a $350 annual fee and then trying to schedule an appointment to get your kid a shot before school starts and there is not one available appointment for 30 days 10 days after the school year has started. We haven't taken our son in for one appointment the entire year yet we paid a $350 office fee and when we need one to get him a shot for to start school they aren't willing to give us an appointment before school starts. Avoid at all cost as you will be paying an office fee in addition to insurance with no guarantees. read more

I highly recommend this office. So easy to deal with and appointments generally start on time. We have Dr Leian Chen and love her. She offers actionable and specific advice and always has a positive attitude. I also highly recommend David, the nurse. He's very nice and gentle and quick at giving shots. One time my daughter was sick, they both stayed late to see her. I really felt that they cared and appreciated it. read more
