I'm giving this office 2 stars and not 1 because Dr. Dimundo and the 3 other doctors we saw were all very nice. But sometimes nice does not work, especially when it comes to the care of your newborn.
Dr. Dimundo was the pediatrician that came to see my newborn and I at the hospital upon delivery and reassured me she would be the very same doctor we would see from now on at her office. Before we checked out the hospital we knew our daughter had jaundice but she told us it wasn't bad. On the 3rd day,and now checked out of hospital and home, I noticed my baby was extremely jaundice and I called the office to ask if it was ok or if I should bring her in for a check up. The receptionist told me to bring her in same day and we would be seen by the doctor. Upon arrival to the office, I notice the parking lot was so small and had limited parking. Not just that, but it was open with no cover so if you have a newborn and it is raining or super cold, be prepared to have all the needed stuff to keep your child dry and warm. Most of the front desk girls there have such attitudes and forget they are dealing with parents with sick children or newborns. Once we got into the exam room, they told us we were seeing another doctor and that dr. Dimundo was not available to see us today. I was furious because I was told on the phone I'd be seeing her for sure. I had no choice but to see the other assigned doctor. She suggested that my newborn get her bilirubin checked again, even though she just got pricked 2 days prior at the hospital, to see her results. So we did just that and watched my poor baby go through that pain again. They said they would call us with the results by end of day. Next thing you know, we were told to bring our baby back in again the next day for another heel prick to check her bilirubin again. Again, we got the call later that day and we're told to come back the next day for a 3rd heel prick. This time it was done by a female nurse, who caused so much pain and discomfort to my child I couldn't handle it anymore and kept telling her to stop because she was hurting her at that point. The other 3x she got her heel pricked was by the guy there, who is soooo much better at it then her. After all of these tests, and seeing 3 different doctors, other than Dr. Dimundo, I finally brought my baby girl back in a 4th time and got to see dr. Dimundo with the final results of her bilirubin and she said she was on the road to being A-Ok!
I experienced other concerns that were not addressed properly or diagnosed properly and that is what lead me to seek a second opinion with another pediatrician in the area. At my second opinion visit l, I told the new pediatrician about her bilirubin, gas issues she has had since day 1 of birth, milk tongue, etc. And basically dr. Dimundo and her office did not need to prick my baby's heel so many times over and over again. 2 other doctors told us that it was not necessary and that babies tend to have jaundice and it goes away in a month and as long as they are eating well, gaining weight and get some natural sunlight, they are okay and will not suffer any serious injuries. Dr. Dimundo also failed to notice that my baby had lip and tongue tie and was very serious for her latch and gas issues. She also had thrush and diagnosed it as milk tongue, which also contributed towards her gas and discomfort.
As you can imagine, I was furious to hear all of this and wanted nothing else to do with her office. I ended up having to take my poor 1 month old to a pediatric dentist and having her lip and tongue tie lasered off so she could have a good latch and help with all her gas and stomach issues. If this was properly examined at the hospital by dr. Dimundo from day one, my poor baby wouldn't have suffered so much for a month and then after with the laser. The hospitals now do it once the babies are checked for that. This really upset us the most along with all the unnecessary heel picks they performed on her.
To top it all off, I was charged $18 to have my babies records copied and sent to the new pediatrician. I was barely a patient of Dr. Dimundo for less than a month. What cost u guys $18???? When I called to make my final payment with Leslie and I asked about it, she gave me an attitude, again like she always has on the phone. I paid it and now I am happy we have moved on to a new pediatrician that values the safety, care, and well being of their little patients. Oh, and the best part of it all is, we see the same doctor always and there are NO nurses involved ever! read more
