I was skeptical that they would be able to prescribe any antibiotics, but I called and the agent took my information. Within 20 minutes a medical person called back (not sure if it was a doctor or nurse practitioner ) we went through some questions about symptoms and she prescribed an antibiotic. Just like that! Since it was now after 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, most pharmacies were closed. The agent called around on my behalf and found a 24 hour pharmacy near me. The customer service and follow through were excellent. The whole thing (outside of the prescription) cost $45. (If they can't prescribe anything there is no charge) and well worth it. An urgent care visit would have been three times as much, plus the wait and stress on my kiddo. Absolutely an excellent experience.

I was told I had a sinus infection and was advised to drink a lot of water. After following this advice, the next day at work I suddenly became extremely weak and experienced blurry vision. My husband took me to the emergency room instead of returning to her clinic. Blood tests were done immediately, and I was admitted to the ICU due to hyponatremia (low sodium levels in my blood). The hospital staff told me the timing was critical and that they saved my life. This happened seven years ago. This is typical clinic environment which I work in so I expected it, so try to plan ahead! I was talking to a resident I think and basically went over my health history with him and then Dr Nguyen came after and we talked briefly and what she recommended based on the problems I talked about. I got a paper to take to quest diagnostics for blood test and I got prescribed medications. She's great for primary care, and keeps her patients above factors like financial interest or just "ticking boxes" in providing care (that most other doctors do not). A-rating for the Dr. However, there are problems with the front-office staff. They often try to manage the doctor unprofessionally, instead of the other way round - while running her office. Specific problems experienced were: Doctor was running late with our appointment, and we needed the full appointment time that we paid for (out of pocket, in that instance) and I was making sure we were not exceeding our time. The uncouth staff would butt in while the doctor was taking her time to explain matters on her own volition - to push her on to the next patient. If this staff were being so diligent, they would have paid attention to the fact that the doctor was running late and prevented that. There were other issues as well, such as careless simple blood-draw from untrained staff that led to bleeding that the staff did not even notice. So C- or D rating for the front-office staff that one might have to deal with, for the benefit of the good doctor.

So many Dr's rush you in and out and this is sadly especially true with intellectually disabled clients, IMO, who often need help the most. Today I brought one of my clients to see Dr Buff at El Camino Health Urgent Care and was so impressed with this Dr!!! My client is not very verbal and has mood swings constantly and Dr Buff worked with him amazingly. I believe he is very experienced with the intellectually disabled. He asked him questions, asked me questions and went out of his way to help my client with a wound. My client felt so comfortable with Dr. Buff, which is not usually the case with other Drs. Dr. Buff even walked us out to our car after the appointment and helped me assist my client with getting in the vehicle. Dr Buff even went out of his way to call me later the same evening to check on my client. Thank you so much Dr Buff!!! We need more Dr's like you who actually care about people and don't treat us like a number. THANK YOU DR BUFF!!!
