Charlene is the best. She takes her time to explain what is going on and the processes and procedures involved. She goes the extra mile.

At 18 years old I was confused, scared, and most important needed a lot of support. Thankfully the staff are incredibly compassionate and professional, always taking the time to explain every step of the process, answer questions, and provide encouragement during what is undoubtedly a challenging time. Navigating a cancer diagnosis is one of the most difficult journeys anyone can face, but being under the care of Dr. Dowlatshahi and Dr. Do has made all the difference. From day one, both doctors have shown an extraordinary combination of clinical expertise and heartfelt compassion. The office is clean, well-organized, and runs efficiently. Appointments are punctual, and communication is always clear. Dr. Dowlatshahi brings a calm confidence to every appointment, taking the time to explain complex information in a way that's easy to understand. His genuine care for his patients is evident in every interaction. Dr. Do is equally remarkable, thoughtful, thorough, and incredibly kind. He listens attentively and always makes me feel seen and heard, not just as a patient, but as a whole person. The entire office staff reflects this same level of professionalism and empathy. From the front desk to the nurses, every member of the team goes above and beyond to create a welcoming and supportive environment. I am deeply grateful for the care I've received from Dr. Dowlatshahi, Dr. Do, and their wonderful team. They've not only provided excellent medical treatment, but also hope, strength, and peace of mind during an incredibly difficult time. I'm incredibly grateful to be under the care of such a dedicated team. Thank you, Cancer Care Institute, for making a difficult journey an easier and memorable one. I got treated in 2009 and I'm still here writing a review 16 years later!

One of those times I had an 8:30 am, I was the first person in the office. I still waited an hour, combining the time I sat waiting in the waiting room and then waiting on the doctor. Another time I waited 30 mins in the waiting room and 45 mins in the room waiting on the doctor. A couple other times I waited almost an hour. I thought at first this was a one off kinda situation. I doesn't seem to be that, it's the norm. All the staff are really nice, 5 stars for them. Something needs to be done to make things more efficient maybe, the wait times are inexcusable. They're always super duper running behind....even if you're the first appt of the day, they're still somehow going to be running behind.

As this may be the final…read moreweek we visit his office, I felt it was important to express my sincere gratitude to both him and his daughter for the exceptional care they've provided over the years. My mother became a patient in 2021 during a very critical time. She was rushed to the emergency room due to unexplained internal bleeding and severe bruising. No one could determine the cause. I still vividly remember the first time I met Dr. Lee--it was close to midnight, between 11:30 PM and 12:00 AM. Despite the late hour, he arrived at the hospital promptly and took immediate action. At first, I assumed he was the night-shift doctor, but I later learned he had already worked a full day at his clinic and was still making himself available to care for patients after hours. That dedication left a lasting impression on me. Eventually, my mother was diagnosed with a very rare condition called Factor VIII Deficiency. Her own brother, who lived in Vietnam, had sadly passed away from similar symptoms. We consider ourselves incredibly fortunate to have met Dr. Lee and his daughter, who both cared for my mother with such compassion and professionalism throughout the years. Even during her chemotherapy treatments, Dr. Lee daughter personally visited her in the hospital to monitor her condition. When my mother later traveled to Vietnam to visit family and encountered further health issues, Dr. Lee responded to my calls--even from overseas--and guided us on what steps to take until she was able to return to the U.S. That level of commitment is rare and deeply appreciated. Over the years, I have not only seen the excellent care he provided my mother but also learned from his example as a medical professional. His passion, tireless work ethic, and genuine concern for his patients are truly inspiring. Simply saying "thank you" does not fully express the immense respect and gratitude I have for Dr. Lee and his daughter. Their dedication and kindness have meant the world to my family and me. Respectfully, Son Pham

After a brief call with an employee named Paolo, who spoke positively about the clinic, I shared the information with my relative. In hindsight, I realize that in my desperation, I may have overlooked warning signs. At the time, I did not realize Paolo is not a medical professional, even though he was the first person discussing treatment options. The clinic is owned and operated by Dr. Nilda Agnes Abellera, who is board-certified in PEDIATRICS but whose clinic advertises integrative medicine. My relative traveled from out of state to begin what was described as an "intensive" 20-day cancer program. According to her account, the first three days did not feel intensive. She reported that infusion rates appeared slowed, staff could not explain the scientific basis for some treatments, and the doctor missed a planned medication review. She also observed what she believed was dried blood on a chair and described an IV bag fully draining while the needle was in place, which worried her. On October 9, 2025, she said her care was terminated immediately after raising concerns, without timely written notice, referrals, or arrangements to ensure access to medical care until she could establish care elsewhere. Referrals were only provided after I contacted the clinic. This abrupt termination caused a delay of over a month in her treatment and worsened her PTSD symptoms. She also tried to obtain her medical records multiple ways. On October 10, she requested them in person but was denied. She also submitted a written request and used the clinic's online inquiry form. As of this writing--52 days later--she has not received her complete records. When I called the clinic, Paolo was tense and dismissive, and I could not speak directly with Dr. Abellera. Given the situation, I became concerned about whether proper procedures were followed and intended to file a complaint with the Medical Board of California. Additional observations and concerns (personal experience): Family-run structure: The clinic is owned by Dr. Abellera. Paolo appears to manage many aspects, and another family member may also work there. This raised questions about oversight and role clarity. Online reviews: Of 32 Google reviews, 5 were five-star without details. Only one mentioned "cancer," making it hard to evaluate patient experiences compared with other clinics with hundreds of detailed reviews. Difficulty communicating with the physician: My relative and I tried to speak directly with Dr. Abellera; she did not speak with me, and my relative felt the doctor was unwilling to address her concerns. This lack of communication was alarming given her serious diagnosis. Cost vs. expectations: The program cost approximately $1,800 per day. Based on my relative's experience, the services did not match the program description. Others may feel differently, but this was our impression. Social media promotion: Paolo participates in Facebook groups promoting the clinic without identifying himself as an employee, which seemed misleading. I have included a screenshot for reference. In more than a decade in healthcare, I have never witnessed a more concerning divergence from a physician's duty to do no harm: terminating care without notice, effectively leaving my relative without immediate, comparable care options while facing life-threatening cancer.
