She quickly scheduled surgery and saved my life. Her visit notes are excellent, her advice post=op was thorough and welcome. Yes, sometimes an appointment is rescheduled or the wait time is longer than expected - but as someone who was squeezed into her busy day - I am very grateful that she was there when I needed her most and am happy to wait while the next gal gets the care and time that she needs. One of those times I had an 8:30 am, I was the first person in the office. I still waited an hour, combining the time I sat waiting in the waiting room and then waiting on the doctor. Another time I waited 30 mins in the waiting room and 45 mins in the room waiting on the doctor. A couple other times I waited almost an hour. I thought at first this was a one off kinda situation. I doesn't seem to be that, it's the norm. All the staff are really nice, 5 stars for them. Something needs to be done to make things more efficient maybe, the wait times are inexcusable. They're always super duper running behind....even if you're the first appt of the day, they're still somehow going to be running behind.

He and his staff were outstanding in all capacities as I navigated my way through an understandably difficult time . There are potential quality of life issues, lots of YouTube info and individual results vary...so my results are my results. I have had 100% bladder control since the catheter was removed on December 19, 2024. There are zero issues with any incontinence or ED side effects post surgery; an unexpected but pleasant outcome. Healing of incisions area is progressing, as is internal abdominal sensations. Pain from any coughing is now zero. No issues coughing, sneezing, standing or bending over. I hope everyone that has to go through this process could have similar results. My experience with Dr Ngo and prostrate surgery was excellent.

At 18 years old I was confused, scared, and most important needed a lot of support. Thankfully the staff are incredibly compassionate and professional, always taking the time to explain every step of the process, answer questions, and provide encouragement during what is undoubtedly a challenging time. Navigating a cancer diagnosis is one of the most difficult journeys anyone can face, but being under the care of Dr. Dowlatshahi and Dr. Do has made all the difference. From day one, both doctors have shown an extraordinary combination of clinical expertise and heartfelt compassion. The office is clean, well-organized, and runs efficiently. Appointments are punctual, and communication is always clear. Dr. Dowlatshahi brings a calm confidence to every appointment, taking the time to explain complex information in a way that's easy to understand. His genuine care for his patients is evident in every interaction. Dr. Do is equally remarkable, thoughtful, thorough, and incredibly kind. He listens attentively and always makes me feel seen and heard, not just as a patient, but as a whole person. The entire office staff reflects this same level of professionalism and empathy. From the front desk to the nurses, every member of the team goes above and beyond to create a welcoming and supportive environment. I am deeply grateful for the care I've received from Dr. Dowlatshahi, Dr. Do, and their wonderful team. They've not only provided excellent medical treatment, but also hope, strength, and peace of mind during an incredibly difficult time. I'm incredibly grateful to be under the care of such a dedicated team. Thank you, Cancer Care Institute, for making a difficult journey an easier and memorable one. It was a few years ago that I saw Dr. Mardi Karin, after finding a big lump in my breast. She…read morediagnosed it to be mastitis and sliced my breast open trying to drain the pus. But after two months, the opening wouldn't heal, the antibiotics she prescribed me did not reduce the lump at all, and there was no bacteria found in the lab testing, I started to question whether I actually had mastitis. But Dr. Mardi Karini would not listen to me at all. She was very certain her initial diagnosis was right despite the evidences. Three months after I had the lump, I finally did a core biopsy to confirm that the lump was granulamatous mastitis, a rare disease that's oftentimes associated with autoimmune causes. After the biopsy confirmed that her initial diagnosis was wrong, I was transferred to a different doctor, and I never saw or heard from Dr. Mardi Karin again. During the three months that I saw Dr. Mardi Karin, I had eight office visits with her in total. Every time, she rushed in and out within 10-15 minutes. She always appeared to be confident and knew what she was doing. But when I shared how my body felt with her, I didn't think she was listening. I had a feeling that she did not like to be challenged when the evidence did not fit with her judgement, or facing a new disease that she was not familiar with. It was a traumatizing experience for me. The disease itself was very painful, but on top of that, being misdiagnosed, having an open wound that wouldn't heal for months, being medicated for a wrong diagnosis that destroyed my gut health, and being treated as if my feelings didn't matter all made the experience even worse. Reading some of the other reviews, it seems that Dr. Mardi Karin was good at other aspects. But based on my own experience, she seemed to be different when facing uncertain situations.

I really did not get good vibes from Dr Karin or her PA Heather and would not feel comfortable…read morehaving them on my surgical care team. One thing that made me particularly uncomfortable is when Dr. Karin grabbed at my stomach "to see if there's a little something extra" (for a type of procedure I told her I am not at all interested in). She also delayed my next care steps unnecessarily. But I think the strangest thing to me is that she discouraged me from looking into another type of procedure, because *she doesn't understand how it works*. Clearly it works somehow because other surgeons do it, but since she doesn't understand it, she recommends against it... that is the action of a self-interested salesperson, not someone who cares about the best interest of the patient. Btw she may say sensation cannot be preserved in a mastectomy, but Dr. Dung Nguyen at Stanford does nerve grafts.

Last year I would up in the ER with massive migraines. As it turned out after many tests and…read moreprocedures, they weren't your normal migraines but, it was Leukemia and not only Leukemia, but, I also had it in my brain. BONUS! I am forever grateful that Dr. Man was on call that day and that she became my oncologist. I was completely ignorant and in too much pain to know very much but she was wonderful! She always took time to see me daily while I was in care in the hospital, explaining things to my parents and to myself. She cared for me physically but emotionally as well and now that I am in remission, she is still caring for me helping me to process what happened to me. She never overwhelmed us but always told us just the next steps so we would know what to expect or to know what was going to happen. It's so easy with cancer to fret over what will happen 4 months down the line, or what care will look like if a certain chemo drug doesn't work or whatever and though Dr. Man could answer these questions the best she could, she also always helped bring us back to the present so we would not bite off more than we could chew. When my care became complicated due to infections and random weird brain things, Dr. Man was able to consult with other doctors at Stanford and UCSF. The Leukemia specialists all said that she had me in the normal course of care for my cancer. She was not afraid to consult with other doctors which to me is amazing! She was always up to date on facts and information regarding my disease and she would personally administer my chemo into my brain in a professional and caring way using the newest techniques, always careful to explain to me what was going on. I love Dr. Man and couldn't imagine being under the care of a different oncologist!

My father was a bit worried because he had a tough recovery. Every step of the way had been tough for him. I accompanied my father and as soon as we met Dr. Man, we felt a sense of peace - she was so kind, so warm, so empathetic. She explained the biopsy report in a way that a non-medical personnel could understand. She even drew a picture of the different layers that the cancer penetrated. She explained how many lympth nodes that the surgeon removed and why that was done, etc. She was very thorough and made it so easy to understand. She answered all of our questions and in the end, she wrapped up by advising my father to eat more fiber (fruits/veggies), take Vit D3 daily, walk at least 30 minutes a day, and most importantly, to follow up with another colonoscopy in 1 year. She also welcomed any follow-ups should my father wish to see her again or talk to her for anything. My father thought they were going to poke him and do another blood draw and/or chemo. He was so relieved! There should doctors like Dr. Man who is patient and warm and realy cares about the patients. Thank you so much Dr. Man!
