Some highlights........ 1) The crew is experienced and cohesive. They've been together for a good long time. They work well together and we never observed inefficiency. They just work hard all day long. 2) I never had to worry about workers in our home. Honest, polite, professional, kind, and responsive are words I'd use to describe them. 3) Communications were timely and valuable. My advice is to take notes of every communication for reference. In one case we forgot it was our responsibility to acquire an appliance. Uh oh, it was our fault and a written record would have been useful to refer to. Yikes! 4) The budget estimates were honored. there was no bait and switch. Prices were transparent to us. 5) We enjoyed reviewing recommended selections of cabinets, floor, hardware, appliances, sinks etc. Today, we feel somewhat knowledgeable with KBS as our tutors. 6) Cleanup and construction debris was timely. Thanks! 7) The crew was OK with our two dogs. I think our doggies missed them when the jobs were done. Final note: The sign of a great contractor is NOT that nothing goes wrong. Rather it is how the contractor responds when something does go wrong. In this regard, KBS took care of problems I was not even aware of, and when I was, they swarmed to make it right ASAP. For example, a quartz kitchen countertop cracked. Surprised. The piece was faulty. The crack was not due to poor installation. We only had to make one call to Dan who took care of it. Easy peasy. No hassles or haggles about responsibility or cost. Perfect. I've a few more impressive examples. So the more work we observed, the more confident we became in KBS. In my life "trust" is earned and hard to achieve in the contracting world. So, it is with pleasure to say KBS was trusted. We'd hire them again whenever we have a future need. Simply excellent!

From there, Harvey did a fantastic job walking us through the best way to achieve what we wanted (removing a peninsula that cut off the breakfast nook; converting a large, outdated pantry- that used to be used for a washer/dryer- into a coffee bar area; installing some floating shelves). Harvey also pointed us to counter and cabinet vendors that had exactly what we wanted for our new look. Even when we came up with ideas during the renovation beyond the scope of what we originally talked about, Harvey was very accommodating. The Mistival crew did a fantastic job, working as quickly as they could. When we noticed a few smaller issues during the renovation, Harvey and his crew were very fast in getting it corrected as quickly as they could, even with some supply chain issues. I was charged $299.00 because they said they had to use a drill, snake, and brush to clean my dryer vent. That is normal procedure for cleaning a dryer vent but they charge extra for doing that. So, their normal process of cleaning the dryer vent is just vacuuming... I will not be using them again. They don't have it listed anywhere on their site they they charge extra for anything! Also, their credit card system was down and they said I needed to pay with either cash or check... I didn't have either so they requested I Venmo my payment... Very suspicious and un-professional. Please do not use them for your dryer vent unless you want to be charged an arm and a leg for a normal cleaning. Plenty of other companies only charge about $100-$170. Go to them instead. Update: After speaking with the manager of the business, they honored the $79.99 charge that they originally offered. I am changing my review from 1 star to 4 because they honored their initial quote. The only reason why I will not give a 5 star rating is because it took me speaking with multiple people and leaving a bad review in order for them to honor their initial quote. If I hadn't left the bad review, I don't think they would've honored their original quote. I appreciate Nicky for working things out at the end of the day though.

We were quoted for a basement remodel which included vinyl flooring and recessed lights. In the middle of the job, we added baseboard which didn't interfere with their progress or timeline. The first thing you'll run into with them is the lack of any communication whatsoever. These guys would just show up to our house unannounced and walk right in without knocking on multiple occasions. If/when the contractor showed up, he gave off a vibe like this job was an inconvenience and he was doing us a favor by being there. The second thing is that the contractor doesn't take notes and doesn't remember the requests. They began installing the wrong lights. He also forgot, on multiple occasions, that we asked for a dimmer switch. It wasn't until the very last day of the job (which was spread out over three weeks) that one of the employees went to a hardware store and installed it after I requested it for about a fourth time. The third thing is the guilt-tripping and lying. Toward the end of the project, the contractor stated that he didn't realize how much work the project would be and that his profit margin was decreasing. I previously mentioned adding baseboard in the middle of the project so he threw out some ridiculous price for the material to try and recoup some of that margin--as if I've never visited a Home Depot before. The last thing is the warranty. I'm discovering some shoddy work since the job was completed (nothing major, just some damaged baseboard that was installed and painted over). GSP touts a workmanship warranty which should cover this but...I've reached out twice about this and have received radio silence. Your mileage may vary but I would just shop around. I'll give them two stars because I'm mostly satisfied with the result. It's unfortunate that they're so unprofessional. And if you do a reverse image search on their website, you'll find that they're just showing images of other projects found online.
