The entrance faces a couple of steps to an elevated level where the seating is. To the left of the entrance is baristas doing their thing but you can also see baristas on the second level too. So where do we go? We walked up the stairs to get seats and proceeded to the second level barista who then told us to order on the first level. Couldn't have been easier if the barista was more attentive by greeting and waiting for people to come up to order? Anyways, we grabbed the menu and decided to get some drinks as a break from walking. Since it was hot, I got an iced mocha. And honestly, nothing special. It was just satisfying to drink something sweet and cold. Hype? Maybe. Would I come back here again? Maybe if I was desperate enough to sit at a minimal looking spot and try another drink.

It was delicious. It was a latte served in a to-go cup and was the right temperature and not bitter. I'm not a coffee expert, but I hear them using the word "robust" all the time on TV. "The best part of waking up..." OK, I digress. Back to my story. Here's the detail that made it extra special. I saw pics of the joint where they do your basic coffee art in your latte. Ya know, like hearts and stuff. My coffee was in a to go cup, so I'm not expecting coffee art in mine. I open up the lid just for giggles and to my surprise there inside the paper cup, lies a little heart shape saying "Hello Mo, drink me with peace and love" and I wouldn't necessarily have seen that. But the fact that it was there... that was sweet! Way to go on the details guys! It's good coffee and a nice ambiance. I'm a fan.

We came across this spot by accident while searching for a cup of joe early morning, and oh my, the deliciously foamed & silky latte did really hit the spot. I had the hoijicha latte and it was a bit upsetting because it was basically a chai tea latte but without the kick to it. Later in the day, I came back and I noticed that have quiche and cheesecake. I don't recall seeing quiche and cheesecake at the North America locations. So I got a blueberry cheese cake and salmon asparagus quiche. I had a good laugh with my mom from the Starbucks guy afterward from his English accent. I also ordered the Carmel macchiato. The quiche and cheesecake was really good. The cheesecake flavour is not as strong as the North America kind of cheesecake but I guess they make it to HK local taste. The caramel macchiato was not full to the top and also the espresso flavour is not as strong as the North American one. It tasted a bit like coffee with caramel. But again I think it's tailored to HK local taste. Decor is clean and nice. It does have the North America Starbucks look to it. Also unlike other HK restaurants, they don't charge extra if you want cold drinks instead of hot or for an extra cup or even hot water for someone else who just want hot water. You pay only what you order and I like it that way.

There are many hip, trendy coffee shops around Hong Kong and I have tried many of them. There are some good coffee spots around town. But having consumed maybe 50 cups of coffee at this Pacific Coffee and others around Hong Kong, I think of the brand Pacific Coffee like the reliable older sibling to the coffee houses of Hong Kong. As with an older sibling, you kind of know what you are getting. There is no nothing fancy or unexpected with an older sibling...they wear the same clothing style, they can be counted on and they are not fancy. They might not be the hippiest or trendiest sibling in the bunch, but they are consistent. Pacific Coffee is just that. Consistent quality, they are on all over the place and they are not Starbucks (no offense Starbucks, your coffee can be too intense for me!). The bean at Pacific Coffee is a milder bean and kind of like a great Pinot...very drinkable every day. This particular Pacific Coffee is in a great location on Queens Road in my hood, has a lot of space to park yourself and read and they remember who I am and what I drink. As such, from a plain coffee drinker, this place easiy checks the two boxes that I am personally looking for in a coffee house experience.

The ordering station is located at ONE END, so, if your table is at the OTHER end of the long lounge, you'll have a little walk. However, for your convenience, it has two condiment bars located along the LONG hall way for cream, sugar, napkins, etc. Better yet, this particular Starbucks has a UNIQUE feature of having 2 FRIENDLY staff members assigned to HELPING customers (1) FIND a seat, (2) even to take orders and BRINGING them to the table for the elderly, handicapped, or those who simply have their hands full! ...
