The estimated cost was approximately $6,000, of which I would have to pay an additional $1,200 out of pocket, with the remaining balance covered by my insurance. I told her, "I would like some time to think about it and may consider getting the crowns later. For now, I would like to have my teeth cleaned as scheduled." At that point, Ms. Yang went outside to discuss my decision with the dentist, Dr. Brian Nguyen, regarding my intention to postpone the crown procedures. When she returned, she told me that I would need to reschedule my cleaning appointment for another day. I asked, "I made this appointment for a routine examination and deep cleaning. If you cannot provide the service, why did you schedule me to come to your office in the first place?" Ms. Yang then told me that there was no hygienist available at the office and that they could not perform the cleaning. I found this explanation unconvincing and felt that I was not being treated honestly. I had scheduled my appointment with Dr. Brian Nguyen, and the situation arose only after I declined to proceed with the expensive crown treatments immediately. My experience left me with the impression that this dental office prioritizes expensive procedures over the services patients actually request. I felt that I was being pressured to accept costly treatment, and when I chose to postpone it, the office refused to provide the cleaning service I had originally scheduled. The cost of my extraction + bone graft + implant was $1K less than what I had been quoted at my regular dentist (which was quoted with my current insurance applied). Not only was the care affordable, the clinic was incredibly accommodating. I needed quick emergency extraction, and the office manager Lydia was kind to walk me through the expenses and book me an appointment only 2 days later. The entire process of getting checked in, taking xrays, and consulting with the doctor instilled a lot of confidence in the quality of care I was going to receive even though it was my first time there. The staff is very courteous, and Dr. Kang really takes time with his patients to answer any questions.
