I think I've figured out the Hyatt Place dilemma at least in my mind. If the property was built new as a Hyatt Place AND has good staff, the property js a winner. Many Hyatt Places are converted from brands like AmerSuites. Rooms are definitely not as nice and even a great staff can't make the stay much better. Fortunately this property was built for the brand and remains a nice property after four years. Hyatt Place also offers breakfast. We usually just want to get back on the road so we did not partake. The brand is fine for short overnight stays. When we have more time , we prefer full service Hyatts and other brands.

I thought your staff was polite and helpful. The rooms were nice and clean. I had just stayed at a hotel across the highway the night previous and it was atrocious. So I was more conscious of my stay than I would normally be. The only thing I would recommend is maybe a casting feature for the TV. I would have preferred to use my own streaming services. Otherwise I enjoyed my stay and I will certainly remember this in my future bookings as I travel.

The room is very spacious however the bathroom is small and lack hooks for hanging clothes. When you open the bathroom door, it is just three inches from touching the toilet. The room is equipped with a refrigerator without a freezer component, an L-shaped desk, a moveable small desk, and Crabtree toiletry. All of these are of practical use. Gold members can receive $15 food voucher, up to two adults. We had two adults in our reservation and they mistakenly applied one voucher for one of our breakfast. I followed up and they were quick to address the mistake. Our young daughters used the pool for all three nights during our stay. It was not always equipped with towels but the staff were efficient in addressing it when we notified them of the empty towel shelves.

However, the elevator was broken and supposedly, according to the front desk staffer, it happened immediately before we arrived. I found that claim hard to believe once I looked at the elevator and its surroundings. It appeared to have been broken for much longer. Thank goodness we were only on the 3rd floor. Secondly, even though our king suite was laid out nicely with French doors between the bedroom and living area, the entire room smelled of old cigarette smoke. It was not super strong or overwhelming, but there was a slight stench of smoke. Thank goodness the smell was not strong enough for us to demand a different room. Thirdly, the bathroom floor in our room seemed not to have been mopped in its entirety. While the area that could be seen easily (around the toilet, in the tub, in front of the shower) was somewhat clean, the area under the sink (where no one would really need to look) had a couple drops of dried reddish-brown substance. I thought, "well, they quickly mopped only where people walk and stand in this bathroom. No need to fight to get a mop under that sink." Finally, we had to wait a long time to check in and to check out. I don't know if they were understaffed or under scheduled. The pandemic negatively has affected the hotel business, so long wait times could just be par for the course of travel, at least for the foreseeable future. Though, even with these things, I would choose this place again versus the other lodging options in Marion.

This is a relatively new property in Marion. I think it has only been open 2-3 months. After…read moreturning off the main drag, there is a traffic light that marks the entrance to the parking lot, but it (the traffic light) has not been activated yet. There is not even a large sign that lets the public know that this hotel exists. I am quite impressed with this place. It is a three-story hotel with all the basic amenities of home; hence, the name..."My PlaceHotel". It has an adequate lobby that has sturdy seating (some sofas and low chairs as well as a couple of bistro sets) and a large tv. The check-in area reminded me more of a curved bar than a hotel desk reception area. Next to it is the convenience store/pantry, which offers a nice variety of items, from foods, pharmaceuticals, and even housewares. At check-in, I wondered why this store sold pots, pans and other kitchen items. My room amenities would later answer this question for me. Once we went into the room, we were greeted by a FULL-SIZE refrigerator & microwave, coffee maker, spacious cabinets and a small sink, complete with cloth towels, paper towels and liquid dish soap. All these things were in the kitchen area. WHAT?!?! For hanging clothes storage, there is a nice-sized closet that houses a full-size ironing board, iron, hangers and a large clothes basket. While the bathroom was not overly spacious, it had an adequate size and contained my personal favorite- Neutragena brand toiletries. The size of our room with 2 queen-size beds was a bit more spacious than the typical hotel room. There was actually ample space to walk between the end of the bed and the desk that is against the wall. In terms of space, It really seems like this room is wheelchair accessible even though it is on the 2nd floor. I hope the other rooms in the hotel have similar dimensions and spaciousness. For recreation, there is a covered picnic area with two charcoal grills, a few tables and numerous chairs. Since the hotel is pet-friendly, there are about four stations around the grounds that supply bags for you to clean up after your beloved pet. Let me repeat... I just cannot stress just how impressed I am with this property. It offers just about all the amenities of home including a friendly and helpful staff. I believe we have found the place that we will stay on our repeated trips to Marion.

My wife and I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary on 8/11/20…read more We do a trip every year for our anniversary and this year my wife decided she wanted to visit the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. So I planned a 2-day trip and while doing my research for a place to stay on 8/11, I happened upon The Timbrook Guesthouse. I will keep the review as short as possible because I love brevity but I make no promises. Jill, the owner, is super fantastic and a 10-star host. She puts forth a Brobdingnagian effort to make sure her guests are happy. If you stay at Timbrook, you will not be able to understand how she does it. No human could possibly do all of the things Jill does everyday to keep Timbrook running like a well-oiled machine. I think she may be a robot. Timbrook itself is the kind of house we'd live in forever if we didn't have 10 fleabaggy cats who love to ruin everything and drive us crazy. The house and the property are just amazing in every way. There are a lot of fun things to do in and around Columbus but you won't wanna leave the property. The house itself and our room were incredible. Everything was super clean, comfortable and welcoming, and we loved how it was decorated. And it's so quiet. The house is so quiet. I love quiet. Did I mention it was quiet? We got to meet KoKo, an awesome bird who loves to eat large nuts. Jill fed him as we watched and it was really a treat. We also got to meet Charlie, another awesome bird who can really voice his opinion. There are also a whole bunch of chickens and who doesn't love watching chickens scamper about. BREAKFAST was so many positive adjectives, I couldn't possibly list them all. A fruit cup that was akin to Ambrosia (which, if you don't know, is the food of the gods). And a hot meal that I ate slowly and savored every morsel. My wife is a trained chef, so one can imagine the cuisine i'm used to, and this was just crazy-delicious. Our only disappointment was that we could not stay longer. My wife and I met a very nice older couple at breakfast who said they were staying all week. We were so envious. We both agreed that when we come back to Columbus, we will stay at Timbrook. We got to see Puka the cat if only briefly right before we left. Maybe next time we visit, we can get closer to pet him but he was a little spooked and being cat owners ourselves, we totally understood. Our Teddy hides under the bed whenever people he doesn't know come over our house. His sister, Ruby, hides too. But Puka is gorgeous and count yourself lucky if you get to see him. I booked a room for this weekend, which included July 4th. However, something came up that…read moreprevented us from being about to visit. As soon as we found out, my wife called and was told that it was no problem, that there is a waiting list, and once it is cancelled, we would get a refund. We would be charged a $35 fee, though. Having not yet received a confirmation email, my wife called again, asking about the refund. And she talked to a very rude person who said we were not getting a refund because it included a holiday. Also snapped "it is clearly written in the confirmation" several times and completely ignored the question of someone previously giving us false information. The excuse was "I am a small business and need to survive"... but rings very hollow because there is no doubt it was re-rented, in fact, she is double dipping and making twice the money. Nice little racket, if you ask me. While I did miss the holiday clause in the confirmation (which was made 35 days before the arrival date, so not much time to cancel), the fact that we were told we were getting a refund is a huge problem. If we were told the truth, we would have made arrangements to at least partially attend. And if this is the way they treat customers, I am wondering if I didn't dodge a bullet by not going. Needless to say, I will never patronize this business.
