We were looking forward to trying Pacifico for the first time, doubling as both dinner before a show a couple doors down and also celebrating New Haven Restaurant Week. We picked up pretty quickly that this was going to be a rough experience. We waited way too long after being seated to have anyone come over to our table. The manager must've taken notice, because he served our table rather than the other waitstaff. It then took nearly an hour for the appetizers to get to us, which were fine but not outstanding. My mom said that her chicken enchilada had way too many cartilage pieces that she had to spit out. Our entrees thankfully didn't take an hour to come out, but I definitely didn't love that the plate was swimming in blood from the steak and was all underneath the rice. We asked for the check when the entrees arrived to ensure we would get to our show on time, and we're glad we did. We never even got a water refill. It's too bad, we really wanted to like it here!

Found when wandering around in the rain. We were looking for something simpler than humongous pricey brunches. This fit the bill. Very nice and fast service. Accommodating our requests. Food was good. Interior charming. Nice all around accidental find.

Lots of options on the menu. We chose to do family style and share a bunch of appetizers and the paella. When split with a bunch of people it's easy to enjoy many plates. Service was prompt and the staff were kind and attentive. We were seated upstairs, my only complaint is that it was super cold and there was a draft. Note: Not a handicap friendly location, with steps to enter.

Mmmm Pacifico! Great drinks, a huge menu with tons of delicious food. We sat outside and the breeze was perfect on this hot day. I had the skirt steak with a side of fried rice. Perfectly filling and we never felt like we were waiting for service. All staff were great and prompt. Definitely worth a revisit.

Came here after previously having walked by in the past. Decided to get drinks and some appetizers one night just for fun. The outdoor seating is decent and on a busy street in the city. The food and drinks are pretty good and the service was fine as well. It's a bit pricey but a nice change for a date night. I got a mai tai cocktail and hubby got a beer. For apps/tapas we got the steak tacos, croquettes and quesadilla. All pretty good but small of course lol.

Stepping into Pacifico Restaurant left me feeling carried away to a Mediterranean location. My eyes were immediately drawn to the stunning coastal blue mosaic of tiles behind the bar and decor combinations of colors and materials. My martini was served in a tall v-shaped cocktail glass. It was mixed swiftly so it was cold but not watered down. The olives were very firm and offered an adequate flavor. The calamari appetizer was light, flaky, and well-seasoned. It was served with an aioli dipping sauce that was a tad too spicy for my palate. Another highlight was the incredibly fast service and cordial bartender. Overall this was a comfortable and spacious spot positioned above street level that provided excellent people-watching, uniquely fresh fare, and sufficiently good beverages. The Ceviche here is sooo good ! The only thing is I wish it came with more chips. I am a regular at Pacifico and everytime I go the service is always great & the vibes and music are up. This is downtown so I normally take the shuttle to avoid the parallel parking. When the weather is nice outside this is a perfect place to eat outside and enjoy the city vibes.

Quaint corner of the block restaurant. I dined outside to take in the sights and sounds of New Haven. Only in town 48 hours so it was cool to see Yale and handle some work duties I ordered two drinks, both were delicious. The 2nd drink definitely gave me a buzz. lol. I started with the empanadas. They were served with a cold tomato based sauce. Not bad but not good. It's missing something like seasoning or acid. Maybe onion? I also ordered the red sauce mussels. Delicious!! Great broth nicely flavored and made the dish so yummy! Definitely would come back!

I came in for Restaurant Week and just about had to be rolled out the door! I caught the tail end of happy hour, so I started with a mojito and a couple of oysters, both of which were quite nice. The mojito may well be the best in New Haven, as they claim, but it would be even better if they used granulated sugar or demerara instead of simple syrup. Still, very yummy! For the first course of the prix fixe I did the salmon tartar, which was very interesting. There's mustard and capers mixed in with the salmon, which gave a nice zip that went great with the avocado. I could also have eaten an entire bowl of the potato and plantain chips! Second course was the lomo saltado, which had a lot going for it. Putting the fries on top kept them nice and crispy, and the fried egg with the perfectly cooked rice was lovely. The meat and veggies were also super tender. My only complaint was that I like my saltado saucy, and this was pretty dry, so there wasn't much for the rice and fries to soak up. Still good, but could be better. Dessert was the passionfruit flan, and it was so good I almost gave five stars just for that. It was tangy without being too sour, and the whipped cream cut the acid perfectly. I have no notes--I'll literally probably come back just for dessert!

Good food, nice service, weird restaurant layout! My family came here for a college graduation celebration dinner. The restaurant is cute to look at, but is awkwardly laid out and had some rather steep stairs. Even though we had made a reservation, our large 13 person party was crammed into a very tight little nook, which could've been pretty uncomfortable if we were much larger people. For graduation weekend, there was a pre fixe menu (3 courses for $65: appetizer, entree, dessert), which I thought was a great idea. The options were appealing and the food came out pretty fast. I got the crab cake as appetizer, branzini as entree, and coconut sorbet as dessert. The food was pretty yummy and the entree portions were generous with a capital G! The waitstaff was friendly, accommodating and customer-service oriented. Not a bad option for a special event!

In a display of restaurant solidarity , they recommended that we try Vinas Wine & Tapas. As it turned out, we have a NEW favorite in New Haven! We arrived a bit early and were cheerfully greeted by Mike G, our server. The atmosphere was welcoming and relatively quiet, since their musical offering does not start as early as our 5:00-7:00 PM time slot on a Tuesday. We had asked for the waiter Christian because he had been mentioned in several of the Yelp reviews, but Mike proved that the service compliments should go to everyone. First, the tapas: We enjoyed all five of the tapas we chose. The "Calamares" were lightly battered and crispy. The Vinas salad was fresh, with tomatoes, cheese, corn, and croutons. The pork belly was delicious and more meaty than expected . The oyster mushrooms were presented with onion crisps. The baked birria empanada was stuffed with brisket style beef. Each of these "courses" was a unique delight to the palate, and for me and my partner, it was completely satisfying. In keeping with the spirit of a "wine bar," Vinas offered a flight of 4 wines in 3 ounce glasses, and after hearing about our food choices and wine preferences, Mike chose the wines for us, giving us a chance to taste some less familiar offerings. We had the Felino Malbec 2024 (Argentina), which became our favorite for its full-bodied and deep flavor. Our second wine was a unique Don Abel (private label) from Wallingford CT, made by one of the relatives of the owner, specially for Vinas. This one reminded us of the local wines one might receive in a B&B in the Loire Valley in France. The final two wines were both from Chile: Reserva Carmenere 2023 and Cabernet Sauvignon Marques de Casa Concha 2022. Both were excellent wines. It was great fun to have Mike choose the wines for us, and we really enjoyed the variety that the flight offerings gave to us. Of course, we had to try a dessert, and Mike recommended the Toffee Cake. We had heard that the owner claimed that some people cried with joy after eating it. Although we restrained ourselves, we had to agree that this was an extraordinary conclusion to a fabulous meal. Overall, this was a great experience for us, and we heartily recommend Vinas Wine Bar and Tapas for a relaxing and welcoming dinner. Some reviews I had read suggested that the portions were too small for the price. I have to disagree. My partner and I love food, and this was plenty. And the price was reasonable. Including tip and tax, we spent about $75 each.

The ceviche was excellent, everything was cooked throughout by the citrus. The portion size is small for $19 and it could have used a side of bread or tortillas to soak up the delicious citrus based broth. The skewers were also excellent. They were cooked perfectly, super tender, juicy and flavorful. They cooked them with a seasoning and had a delicious chimi on top.

After much debating and research, we decided it was finally time to try Hachiroku in New Haven. We already love going to The Loop, let's sit down and eat. Heard lots of positive buzz from fellow Yelpers and foodies, including a previous 2024 New Haven Best Restaurant of the Year at the CRAZIES. All of the accolades and positive reviews are well earned. Cozy and delicious. That's what I'd describe about Hachiroku. The ambiance is cozy regardless if you're sitting at the bar or in the upstairs seating. The food we ordered also had the same vibe. The menu rotates with the seasons and the freshest ingredients which we greatly appreciated and it shows in the tastes. Our seasonal selections that we ordered included Hokkaido scallop and octopus carpaccio with ikura and seaweed and monkfish karaage. The carpaccio had the perfect components to complement each other. The monkfish karaage fully came together between the lemon and the side of pickled radish as well. We also ordered house made fresh tofu and added uni. The staff mentioned "oh it's perfect, it's uni season" which made my day. It was so delicious and my husband who normally doesn't like uni even noticed how fresh it was. We really went wild ordering everything, including the mini Harasu don (teishoku which comes with rice, pickles, and we picked the salad), Black Cod grilled with Yuzu sauce, Yaki Kinoko Mushrooms, and the Kakuni Short Rib (which pairs very well with a side of rice). The most cozy and perfect dish for winter was the seasonal vegetable agedashi. Warm and had a nice variety of vegetables with a vegetable dashi broth that healed the soul. We enjoyed every dish and we noticed already when looking at the menu again there's already so many new items to try. Excellent service and suggestions from the staff (because if we didn't have them, we could've ordered the whole menu in one night). Can't wait to come back and rave about Hachiroku (and its sister stores/restaurants) to everyone!
