Stink. I am so sad that my update to this previous review is just frustration. Our service was fine - just not super attentive is all. Firstly, everything seems incredibly overpriced for the quality & quantity of food. Originally I would've bragged on the shareable sizes of orders - and this is true if you're ordering any form of entrees, but, financially be ready to pay for 2 entrees in order to be able to share anything with a family of 4+. Before when they use to do heaps of rice - it's nowhere near this anymore. My biggest irk was our booth actively leaking on us the entirety of our stay. Had lunch there on Thursday. It was quiet and there weren't that many tables taken. We started with their famous lettuce wraps and they did not disappoint ! We hadn't been there in years. Their lunch menu included a side and an appetizer. My hubby had hot and sour soup, which was tasty and I had a pork eggroll, which was fine. He had fire shrimp which he enjoyed and I had sesame chicken, which was tasty as well. I brought home enough for lunch tomorrow. I had Sesame Beef and the beef was VERY tough, as in edible. this is the second time I've had a beef dish that was just as tough as the first time. The flavor was ok but couldn't tell it was sesame. Pretty pricey for the portion size, ended up eating the rice and the veggies and tossed the beef. I've had the Spicy Chicken and Crispy Honey Chicken those were great so they do chicken well...beef not so much. I'll go again but will stick with chicken dishes. read more

Disorganized, slow, and unprofessional service from start to finish. When we arrived, there was no one at the host stand and four parties waiting. Two younger guests were spoken to very rudely and told they could be seated, but that it would be a long time before anyone came to their table. They were seated and left before we were even acknowledged. Despite only about 14 tables being occupied and multiple staff members on the floor (at least three servers and two food runners), service was inexplicably slow. We arrived at 1:32, were seated at 1:45, and did not receive the first part of our meal (our soup and egg roll) until 2:15. Even more frustrating, the table seated immediately before us received their food before our server ever came to our table. We weren't given our check until 3:00 PM. Our waiter was mediocre at best and not attentive. The food arrived barely warm. This was far below acceptable standards for any restaurant. We will not be returning. read more

Only 4 because I saw a few things that could be better. First, the food was delicious . The drink we got was called a bombard tea with little flavor balls. Oh yea, we got one to go. As far as affordable chains/franchises go I put P.F. Chang's right at the top along with Biaggi's and The Cheesecake Factory. Of course the newcomer in town is Ruth Chris Steakhouse, but that is kind of in it's own league followed closely by Fleming's. Everything at P.F. Chang's is served family style which makes sharing a great option...not that my kids get that. Lol Decor is nice, subdued lighting, and a combination of booths and tables and chairs. We (myself and my two teenagers) stopped in for lunch on Sunday and started our meal with a couple sodas, a lemonade, and chicken lettuce wraps. Followed by entrees of orange chicken (x2) and the Mongolian beef (upcharge for lo mein noodles. We were greeted and seated immediately on walking in and we never hit the bottom of our glasses before being offered refills. I'm not a big fan of the orange chicken, but my kids love it. The beef in the Mongolian beef is thick and well seasoned. Probably one of my favorite iterations of this dish in the metro...though I would encourage you to check out Asian Cuisine in Grimes it this is your go to. Our total was $105 after tip. A little pricey for lunch, but it was an enjoyable meal and still probably cheaper that going to the Iowa State Fair. So not to scare you off most of the entrees run $15-$22 and would easily serve two. Fountain drinks are $3.50ish. The upcharge for the lo mein from rice was $2. We could have easily have trimmed almost $30 off of this just by skipping the lettuce wraps ($13) and ordering water, etc... Spending a little extra was on me for wanting to enjoy a good meal with my kids and all of us walking away happy with no regrets (as far as the meal itself anyway). I highly recommend the lettuce wraps, the dynamite shrimp, the Mongolian beef, and the Chang's spicy chicken. read more

A few weeks ago I had a bad experience at PF Chang's and I gave it a 2 star review. After that, the corporate office and the Branch Manager (Brian) called me to go over my experience. I shared everything and they asked me to give them a 2nd chance. I decided to do so and the experience was day and night. Daniel greeted at the hostess stand and he sat me at the bar. He was very helpful to go over the menu and ensured that my glass of water was always full. Delivered the food right away and he took the time to ensure that I was satisfied with the dinner. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken and it was very well done. It was crispy and the sauce was great because it was not very sweet. You've got to he kidding me. Ive always relied on Chang's being a solid known entity when you want a nice bite. Not anymore! First off the service was weak. The bartender gave me about the worst pour ever almost 1/3 foam and when i mentioned it there no fix just "ya it happens". Another server threw some food in front of me without a word. Let me start off by saying that our server Steph was OUTSTANDING! She was kind, efficient and gave extra attention to my 85 year old mother. I always love the lettuce wraps and hot and sour soup. We enjoyed dinner with 9 of our family in town for our daughters wedding. I have eaten here dozens of times and without fail, the food is fantastic. The fried rice is outstanding, the service is friendly and quick. I TOTALLY appreciate their willingness to take reservations. With older family members, it make the process so much easier. I never met a PF Chang's entree i didn't like so when i saw this in Iowa i knew i wanted to stop in. Ordered lettuce wraps cause you have to. I got the kids fried rice since i was already having an appetizer. Got an oolong hot tea that was really good. At this PF Chang location near the mall, the restaurant wasn't very crowded, but we still had to wait 10 minutes for tables to be cleared. It was apparent they were short staffed. Once seated at a table, the service was very good and our order was taken quickly. The pork dumplings were average in taste and the Chicken Pad Thai lacked the taste I hoped to get. They must use a different sauce but the dish itself was okay. We asked for the check, which arrived quickly after the request. I will never go back her. Last Monday, I had Beef and Broccoli and Lettuce Wraps. I got the worst case of food poisoning. I woke in the early morning hours throwing up and basically having butt piss! The latter lasted all the way until today, Saturday. I lost 20 lbs. the first 24 hours and lost a total of 27 in 5 days. I'll never go back to any P.F. Chang's locations. Our experience was terrible. We requested a booth, but were told none were available. Booths were empty the whole time we were there. Our server brought a bar menu with the regular menus. The bar menu showed drink and appetizer specials that we were later told were not available in the dining area. The server took orders from 3 of the 4 of us, then left, forgetting to take the 4th order. We all asked for water, but she only brought one. When she brought that, we pointed out that she had not taken one of our orders, and that we requested more water. The lettuce wraps with tofu were decent, but not as tasty as previously. When an expressionless young man brought our entrees, he handed them to us without clearing our appetizer plates. We had to move those to an empty table ourselves. The entrees were very bland. We didn't see our server again until the bill arrived. When the bill came and we saw we had been charged full price for the drink and app that were specials on the bar menu, we advised the hostess of this, and she was quite rude to us. P.F. Chang's is a pretty classy Chinese restaurant located next to the Jordan Creek Mall. My family and I come here annually, mainly because of the price, but we always have a great time while we are there. The employees are always respectful, have energy, and check in on the customers frequently. Our waiter consistently had to fill out glasses and never let them reach empty! The food portion looks small, but it is filling! I would encourage getting an appetizer first so that you do get full. The quality of the food is outstanding! The saying "you get what you pay for" definitely applies here. It is not cheap, but that also means that there are quality food and flavor. My friend and I decided to come here for dinner. Hostess indicated to us that there was a 15-minute wait, although the seating area was mostly empty. Once we sat, we were able to order fairly quickly, but then took close to an hour to actually get our food (she had sesame chicken, I had crispy honey chicken). Well hungry for Chinese Food, I made the mistake of stopping at PF Changs. I should have gone with the Yelp reviews, but decided to give it a try. We were seated quickly and the place was sparse with other patrons. Maybe that was a sign of things to come. We ordered the Crab Wontons and Dynamite Shrimp. The Crab Wontons arrived, but no appetizer plates, our server went to go get the plates, I am not sure where she went. She walked to the kitchen, then across the restaurant and after 5 minutes she came back with two plates. When my wife unwrapped her Silverware the Napkin was filthy as was the Silverware. We waited for the server to come back. We showed her and she left to go get some more Silverware. Well 5 minutes later we saw her so we said what about the Silverware? Sorry I was looking for my manager. She left and returned with Silverware. The Crab Rangoon was cold by then and I wasn't impressed. The Dynamite Shrimp were excellent and had a little kick. It was hard to enjoy after seeing the filthy soy sauce bottle and realizing this place is very gross and dirty. I ordered the beef fried rice and they probably should rename it beefless mush because that's exactly what it was, the rice was very mushy with not much meat. The Mongolian Beef was very nice with the brown rice, however I wouldn't describe it as tender as the menu stated. The Chang's Chicken was pretty good also. I never said anything about the filthy soy sauce or the food. The manager stopped at the end and said she had taken the appetizers off the ticket. That was nice, but I would much rather you clean the place up. I will tell you the service is horrible, very slow and the staff really seamed depressed. This was one of the worst places I have every eaten and I have no desire to return. I gave this place two stars because some of the food is decent, but not worth eating in a filthy place with horrible service. read more

My orange chicken was significantly more than the honey chicken. The honey chicken was much better than the orange chicken. The orange had too much of a bitter taste to me. We ordered carry-out 2 hours ahead of time for a set pick up time (which was listed an available time on their website). I ordered carry out due an ill family member we were trying to spemd time with at his home. I arrived 5 minutes before the time we set for the food to be ready. Instead of being able to pick up the food and being able to spend time with our ill family member, i had to sit in the restaurant for an additional 45 minutes before the food was ready. (And this was after they told me it would be 20 minutes). I could have walked in and ordered the food at ac a table and received it faster. Thankfully, they comped the food. You need a system to contact customers if you are that far behind. I understand that many olaces are short-staffed, but If you had let me know you were behind, i could have come in later to pick it up instead of sitting there waiting. Again, they at least tried to make it right by comping the food. But maybe fix the system so thar your availablr pick up times are actually available. read more

This location has really gone down hill. I ordered takeout tonight and was shocked at how rude the staff was. I ordered online and called to let them know when I arrived (at my scheduled pick up time). They guy that I spoke with, Brian, was incredibly rude in letting me know that the kitchen is backed up and is running 45 minute ticket times right now. I have worked in the restaurant industry and know this happens, not a big deal. I asked if he could make add soy sauce to my bag whenever it was ready and he was clearly annoyed by that letting me know that it would be "a while before it even got to that. That's at the end of the line". I asked if he could give me an estimate of when it would be done so I knew if I should hang out and wait or leave and come back to which he told me the kitchen hadn't even seen my order and had no idea. After hanging up I received a text from the restaurant saying my order was ready, which seemed odd so I called back in and was rudely told it wasn't. Totally understand being busy and even being behind but it doesn't take a lot to be nice to customers that aren't being rude to you. I've been coming to this PF Changs for MANY years since they opened in Des Moines and over the last 5 years it's steadily been declining in customer service as well as consistency in the kitchen. I never write a review off of one or even two bad reviews experiences because things happen and no one is perfect, but this has been pretty consistent over the last 2 years. Recently hosted a party that was catered by PF Changs, what a total disappointment. The food was cold and gummy, in part because they didn't include the heating racks as promised. Our order was also incorrect and judging by the amount of food thrown away, no one wanted the leftovers, it was not a satisfying dining experience.
