Followed by a hand hinting at the corner window seat. A Much appreciated gesture. Upon review, the menu was extremely legible and it didn't take long to decipher what our culinary path would be. We chose Brisket as our main, and enjoyed cornbread and mac n cheese both of which melted in your mouth with every bite. And tropical coleslaw added a bright twist to every crunch. Thank you! 5/5 PS the pickles were outstanding Ambiance was bright and airy inside and was a nice change from a typical smoky, dim-lit crouched in vibe of a traditional smoky palace.

And it was on a Sunday so my smart (greedy) ass decided to order two meals, the everyday offerings (chicken & ribs plate) and Sunday only (smothered pork chops). The establishment is a hole in the wall, takeout place. It was hot as hell in there, idk how they do it. The lady at the order counter was nice, told her it was my first time and she recommended sides. One of which was the candied yams cause they only have em on Sunday. I didn't like them at all. Other sides I got were mac and cheese and collards with cornbread. They were pretty good. As far as the meats, the helping of chicken and ribs were nice. I went with the combined bbq sauce she recommended and it was a nice compliment to the bbq. Unfortunately for me, it was only on top. My bottom pieces of meat could have used more sauce. The smothered chops were my favorite; nice and tender. Only recommendation is those candied yams (maybe it's just me or I got an off day) and thankfully the ceiling fan wasn't running cause it could use a dusting but not while my food being made lol

Loved the sauces at the table which were fun to try the different options and complemented the pulled pork really nicely. Was really pleasantly surprised by the staff. There were a couple trucks parked when we entered the shopping center on the SE corner of Congress and Lantana. My husband knew they were not the right ones. We drove around to find the Family Dollar store. Yes! Right where they said they'd be. There was even a picnic table right out front where we could dine. You order and pay at the window. Your food is packed to go which worked out as we brought a few things home. They do a lot of takeout, obviously. My husband got a pulled pork sandwich. I got the rib sandwich. We shared a small order of baked beans. And he also got some banana pudding. His pulled pork was tender. He added some of their sweet sauce to taste. Ate every bit. My rib sandwich was also very good. I had it open faced. Didn't even need to add sauce. And brought a couple ribs home. The baked beans were fantastic. Nice bits of meat and great flavor. The pudding was my least favorite -- I only had a taste, but too many cookies for me. We even got to meet Howard. He came out to check all was good. And later he said hi to a few of his regular customers. He told us everything is "house" made. What a nice touch to meet the chef/founder! I now know where we will come when we have a bbq craving. And I need to try their rib tips and brisket as well.

When certain menu items were unavailable, staff responded with attitude rather than helping find alternatives. The ambiance was not welcoming. In general, this is really not very good bbq, but presentation can always make a difference. However, if that presentation looks like it was a sandwich made by the "fraternity chef" while charging top dollar prices, that's not going to help. A "rib sandwich" was literally 4 ribs on 2 slices of white bread, bones still in. For $20, at least have the decency to debone the ribs, especially if you can't even serve it on a nice roll. My girlfriend had the chicken sandwich, she asked for sauce on the side. This was confirmed when the employee read the order back. Sauce was on the sandwich, which was also served on two slices of white bread. The fries were okay, as were the beans. Final verdict, overpriced and underwhelming.

We got a full rack of ribs, side of mac & cheese, coleslaw, and potato salad as well as some stuffed bacon wrapped jalapeño peppers. We pulled down the bed on the truck and nibbled a little bit before we hit the road. I was incredibly shocked of how good the ribs were. This is now my favorite rib spot in town for barbecue places. The meat was so tender It fell right off the bone and had a black pepper seasoning taste to it. I'm a sauce whore and love sauces but could definitely eat these without any barbecue sauce. Out of all the sides we got I would definitely get the potato salad again. It was probably my favorite I've ever had. Now anytime we pass the area we're gonna have to stop to get some ribs and potato salad. I can't believe my niece who lives out here has been gate keeping this place.
