Staffing issues!! Not sure if it's a lack of staff or just not the right staff. We were seated and greeted right away. (Being a table of Baby Boomers and being seated under a speaker we asked to have the music lowered so we could converse. It took two asks to have it lowered). Appetizers and drinks came out with no problems however, when it came time for our dinners, 3 of 5 dinners came out and without explanation, the other 2 dinners came 5 minutes later. After we finished our meals, 3 plates were cleared and 2 others were not. We ordered desert and the 2 empty plates remained. Again, 3 of the 5 deserts came out and we had to request to the bar staff to have our empty plates removed. The other 2 deserts never came out. Apparently they were omitted from the order even though we ordered all 5 at the same time. I hope the staffing issues are worked out. The food is phenomenal. The taco salads were excellent (albeit a bit small). Everyone loved what they had but again the portions were slightly smaller than average. I want to try this place again soon as I hope it succeeds but the runway to the high season is short, I hope they take this review as constructive and seriously look at what needs to be done. read more

Finally open for soft opening early May 2026 after several years of renovation. Early days yet but large place with exotic car park ( something out of NYC)- presumably as the city code required more parking than they had. Very smart decorations and pleasant outdoor seating options. Name suggests bbq but for now basically tacos and burritos. Credible bar. We will see how it evolves. read more

Went there a couple of days ago for the first time. The building is nice, nice size bar and large screen TV. The backyard a cool area to hang out with ping pong and some tables. We sat inside and the place was pretty empty. The appetizers were good but the tacos were bland. Service was NOT good- the bartender was more interested in the large TV screens than service. I was surprised with the new venue there was not a manager checking in or asking how things were. There are a lot of options in the area and although I was excited to see this open I am not sure I will return. read more

Most of the good reviews here are from years ago when it was a BBQ food truck that served decent bbq. Unfortunately, the new menu doesn't include anything like that, instead, it's uninspired tex-mex. The building itself is nice, huge bar and lots of tvs to watch sports. Unfortunately, we left at halftime to change venues- it was that bad. The place was almost empty, staff was bored on their phones ignoring the few customers that were there. It took probably 15 min from when we sat at the bar, right in front of the bartender, to get our drinks- a draft beer & glass of wine. Ordered dry rub wings which were misdescribed on the menu and came with a cream sauce on top so we sent back to put that on the side, no problem but they were still not great. Overall, the place was depressing, uninspired, the staff was poorly trained & managed and it felt like being in a small town airport Chili's. We really wanted to like it since its so close to home but its hard to support a restaurant that feels like they already gave up. read more

Being a native born Mexican and a triple certified foodologist with a masters in tacology and a PhD in salsanomics I had to see if this place was legit or just another "Mexican-infusion" that misses the mark. First let me mention the very dope and chill ambience this place creates with the outdoor seating and trees and music, it's a whole vibe. I know they sometimes have live music so I'll have to come back and check that out. The service was friendly right from the start. Walked by the kitchen and it looked spotless! Def a plus. Then me and my gf split the sampler. That gives you 2 meats, 2 tacos, and 2 sides for $22. That's a deal I couldn't say no to. We tried the brisket, the ribs, the brisket taco, the carnitas and rice/beans and the potato salad. When i say that everything was a 5/5 I am not exaggerating. The ribs were better than Troys and better than Tropical smokehouse. More tender, better flavor, more Smokey. The brisket was just how I like it, perfect balance of perfectly rendered and delicious fat and tender meat. The tacos were better than I expected and better than most Mexican places I've had around here. And that's coming from a Mexican! The star of the show? Well of course I could say it was any of the meats we tried or the tacos but without a doubt my favorite were the beans, the Ranchero Beans to be exact, they blew my mind. I couldn't stop eating them and even as I write this review I am craving my next bite of those delicious and Smokey beans. I could have these any day of the week. Beyond comfort food I also had the lamb barbacoa burrito and again the barbacoa was the most authentic tasting recipe I've had in a while, I could tell that the right chiles were used and it brought a tear to my eye! I saw a video on instagram of the food at Austin Republic and it looked SO GOOD. The idea of Tex Mex BBQ sounded amazing so I was really excited to try it. The building is very nice, there are fun decorations on the wall and it is very spacious. The waitress was very nice and was able to answer any questions. My husband and I both ordered the 2-1-1 combo for $22, where I got 2 carnitas tacos, 1 meat (I picked brisket), and 1 side (I picked shells and queso, their version of Mac and cheese), and my husband got 2 brisket tacos, 1 brisket, and coleslaw as his side. When the food came out, we were surprised at how small the serving of the brisket was, it was just one small piece of meat. the tacos were small too, but we expected for them to be small. The carnitas taco was delicious - best of the food we ate! The brisket tacos were ok. The brisket was kinda dry. The shells and queso was not good. The coleslaw was just ok. I think the Mex side of the restaurant was good but the BBQ side could be better. if you want good BBQ and you're in north palm or Palm beach gardens, go to Nev's BBQ! Much better food for a much better value. I would maybe go back to Austin Republic for happy hour deal, but not for dinner again. read more

Seriously good BBQ! Dare I say... the best on Dixie. The 2-2-2 platter is a good deal and way to try a little bit of everything. The best thing I had was definitely the ribs. Flavorful, tender, and lean. I'll probably dream about them. I can also recommend the pulled pork, the rancho beans, the collard greens and the brisket enchiladas. They are working on building out a restaurant in the back but for now it's an nice easy-going outdoor vibe. Service was great. Attentive and friendly. Our server (which might have been the owner) even brought me a side of collards just to try because I said I liked them but my husband didn't. It was a really thoughtful touch. It is so exciting to see that barbecue is expanding to Wedt Palm Beach!!! I really love this new spot and cannot wait for the actual restaurant to open up... Don't waste your money. The food is mediocre at best. Happy hour menu is just ok. Tacos come in different sizes, it was hilarious. One was bite size and another was a normal sizer taco. Right now, it's a shack and a few containers and two big smokers out back (one for chicken) with a lot of post oak wood piled up. They will build a fully enclosed restaurant on site, but for now, it's picnic tables and trees for cover. It feels like a real bbq place. So that's a good sign right there. Chips are fried fresh; salsa is also fresh. I believe it was a roasted tomato type. It needed heat, so we hit it with the vinegar peppers. We tried their bbq sauce but didn't use them on the meats; we tasted them with the chips. There's a smoky coffee-infused one and a spicy sweet one, and a regular one. Good, if you like sauces. Because it was the first time we got all the meats -- brisket, ribs, pulled pork, sausage. We didn't bother with chicken (we were told it takes three days to prep, with a full day of brining, so maybe next time) or ordered tacos, but we did get a brisket enchilada and ordered several of the sides and tried both types of beans. We both agreed their best meat is their ribs; they are excellent and took a great smoke and rub. The brisket was cooked perfectly, but the rub is a lower salt content, and I think they could do with adjusting it. It worked well in the very good enchilada. The pork, I think, got a little dried out, but again likely to work well in the dishes they use it with; the homemade sausage is excellent; we both felt this will go great on egg burritos or breakfast tacos or what have you when they start doing breakfast service. Sides -- greens are a must-order; Terry was quick to claim those to take home. Mac and cheese is ok; I might not bother with it, needed to be cheesier. Of the two beans, we felt the Ranchos (pintos) which are cooked with a ton of pork fat and Mexican style with tomato and onion, and some chile is the clear winner; I forgot to take a photo of it. Salty, porky, the correct type with Texas BBQ. The other kind, the black beans, come with a basic seasoned rice, they're good with the other Tex-Mex stuff on the menu. No sweet baked beans here, no sir. I think it will do well, and certainly the folks who don't want to get big plates of meat and want tacos or burritos or sandwiches instead will like the place. They are going to be making their own tortillas here as well, but it's not set up yet, they bought a machine. I definitely will come back when I'm up in that area. read more

I got the 2-2-2 which is 2 meats, 2 tacos and 2 sides. Good brisket, the second one was mostly fat (why one leas star), but didn't want to complain as they were busy. The tacos, potato salad and the one brisket was delish. They have 2 yummy sauces. BBQ and something with chilis that was super good. Your new home for authentic barbeque. Austin Republic 4801 S. Dixie Hwy West Palm. One mobile home converted into a kitchen and a bar trailer next to it situated in the parking lot where they are currently building out a brick and mortar, however they have created a down home atmosphere and you would never know you are eating off the side of a road. Pit master James Strine is absolutely killing it with Texas style bbq with a little Tex-mex thrown in for good measure. The Giant custom smokers and rotisseries never stop, everything was smoked to perfection, the ribs had perfect smoke rings and the brisket had a high quality bark. Sausages made in house and all the sides are scratch made. We ate through pretty much the whole menu and I can honestly say there isn't one thing I wouldn't come back and reorder. They are putting together an elevated bar program that in the future is going to have a killer whiskey selection, but for now the mango margaritas really complemented the Tex-Mex theme. Overall, this place has excellent Texas style barbecue. I'd recommend ordering to-go though since they only have outside seating and it's a little rough. The food is worth it though. The brisket can easily sit among the best I've had. Corn ribs are delicious and so was the Mac and cheese. My wife ordered a brisket sandwich which was also amazing. My wife said the ribs were some of the best she's tried. The sides were all super tasty as well - the German potato salad was a stand out. The house made hot sauces were also winners. I stopped at the Tex/Mex/barbecue food truck style eatery with my granddaughter around dinner time. The service was fantastic and the food was ready quickly. The day we were there it was a little chilly so we decided to do takeout, but there are several picnic tables to sit at outdoors.We ordered a chicken taco, chicken burrito, and chips with queso.. It was delicious. The only down side for us was that the queso was very runny and hard to eat without making a mess. read more

I came to take some food home but ended up staying. The brisket burger was phenomenal, as moist as can be with the perfect topping on it, Jalapeño jelly; not too hot with the perfect combo of flavor. Ate the rancho beans on the side, I would recommend doing that every time. The corn ribs are a must. Have never seen corn prepared quite like it. Every bite was bursting with flavor. I'm taking some brisket and a texas hot link home. Looking forward to my second dinner of the night. Can't wait until the restaurant is completed in May. Just stopped in for the 2nd time. I love how convenient it is to pull over, order & take away. I also like the picnic tables and outdoor seating while I wait. My favorite are the sweet potato tacos - nice combination of sweet potato, black beans, corn salsa, etc. My wife had the brisket tacos & loved them with the crunchy corn shell. I was jealous of the crunch & will ask for the sweet potato tacos on a corn shell next time, although the blue corn soft tortilla they are served on has a good flavor. If you like Texas BBQ there is something for everyone. Hopefully the bar will add some craft beer (IPAs) in the future. read more
