We don't know of any other company in the Westchester area that has the experience needed to perform this kind of work. The steeple, which dates from the original construction of the church in the 1970s, is made of plywood. The exterior had been coated with a thick, rubberized, highly water-resistant paint. Because it was only paint protecting the plywood from the elements, it required a new paint job every 6 or 7 years. And because the steeple is so high and hard to access, any painting had required either building scaffolding or renting a bucket truck. A rather expensive bit of upkeep. MCAS helped us analyze other easier-to-maintain options--either traditional shingles or metal sheathing. We decided on metal sheathing because 1) it would have a cleaner look and be more attractive, and 2) it would last longer. Yes, the installation would cost more, but long-term it would be a simpler and more elegant solution. MCAS gave us a great price on the install--around 20k. And despite equipment hassles (the rented bucket truck kept breaking down), they got the work done in 10 days. There was only one actual installer who was an expert with aluminum sheeting. He approached the work as an artist and did a beautiful, impeccable job. On top of that, he was a super-nice guy. Our new steeple should last for 50 years or more and continues to be a bright spot in the Tarrytown community. Michael Casolaro, the owner of MCAS, has a documented history of high-quality roofing work (customized copper gutters to standard reshingling--the gamut) and we are so glad we went with him on this project. P.S. MCAS also reshingled our roof at the same time they resurfaced our steeple, and they did an excellent job with that as well. P.P.S. Please note, this job was done in spring, 2019. We then lived in Westchester, NY, but have since moved.

You also have to admire a roofer who breaks off and starts his own company. I have a soft spot for those with an entrepreneurial spirit, improving the US economy. Justine was also exceedingly pleasant to deal with. Responsiveness ranks as my top priority when dealing with large home projects and Justine get full marks, always getting back to me within minutes. They didn't try upsell me or talk me into any extras, they did exactly what I asked for in a quality manner and at a competative price. The crew was friendly and fast. I only had to do some minor yard clean up after they left, which I was happy to do considering the scope of their work. Mike pays them a good wage and that makes a difference in both attitude and craftsmanship. However, the high wage can backfire on the homeowner if additional work is involved. Inquire beforehand about their additional work rates. When I was surprised with the price of the additional work (they had to replace a rotted section of the roof), Mike was happy to explain the math behind the numbers and worked with me get the price down to an amount that I felt comfortable with. Be warned: NYS has very expensive insurance and companies like MCAS have large overhead costs to cover that are added into the price of additional work, so if you think they may uncover a lot of additional work, consider doing it yourself if you have the time. Regardless, Mike was pleasant and willing to work with me. Moreover, they were honest in the scope of additional work performed and did not magically find more or extrapolate. All this is something you can only get from a successful, family run business. A corporate company would never do that. I recommend MCAS. They get full marks on everything.

This was our first time using this company for the staircase landing leading up to the main entrance and pavers. It has been nearly 2 years since we moved into this home and needed renovation to the outside of our home, so we was excited when Melvin and his crew came on board to help us accomplish that especially during covid. Melvin and his crew worked so hard to be done within the time frame promised which was 5 days and I was very optimistic from the start. Upon completion we hired them again to do the basement because we had to fire the guys who was doing our basement which was at the same time melvin was refacing the front of our home. We asked melvin if he wanted to take on in sealing the floor and painting the basement and so he did. Their work was done in such a timely and professional manner we acted fast and had him look at our backyard where we wanted to add a floating deck by extending it another 15×16 feet. He replied by saying that "He specializes in Decks which was his favorite area of work. We actually had to let another guy go because he was going to be done in 14weeks and he didn't even start yet, and Melvin and his crew was going to take 7 days. At this point it's business and nothing personal. The crew couldn't have been more courteous and conscientious to detail also very patient with my vision in how I needed it to look. When he began, I have to admit that I was skeptical. I just did not see what I was invisioning and describing but that's because it was just all a mess back there (see Photos) Again I'm so pleased to report that the crew worked tirelessly and pretty silently throughout the week onsite and demonstrated respect during their brief encounters with us. Overall the jobs involved waiting for permits, digging, scraping, cementing, building, cutting & painting. Once finished, the cleanup could've been better and that's the only Con I have. I am partial to supporting and maintaining a relationship with a true contractor. M&N has demonstrated the same quality of work from our first project to the current ones. Before the project began, I requested/checked references provided. I also spotted their ongoing work throughout yelp, so I made it a point to privately embark on my own personal inspection as I do with everything. I have already determined that I will be using M&N Construction for our next project around Spring 2021 for now our In-Home renovation and I would be happy to offer a more detailed recommendation and referral if/when needed. Thanks so much Melvin and Crew!!!!!!!!!!.

While initially friendly, he became very unprofessional after egregious errors in workmanship were made by Jese and his team. The tile work in all three areas were uneven with extreme lippage in some areas, had large grout lines that were cracked and messy, and were not properly adhered to the floor. Jese acknowledged the problems and promised to fix them, even going so far as to order replacement tiles. However, after over a year of repeated attempts to get him to return and resolve the situation, he stopped responding and never followed through on his commitment to make it right. Left with no other recourse, we filed a lawsuit in small claims court. The judge reviewed the evidence, including photos of the substandard work and communications promising to correct it, and ruled fully in our favor, awarding us a judgment of over $10k. Jese/Five Star Construction never paid this amount, forcing us to make a claim with the Connecticut Home Improvement Guaranty Fund administered by the Department of Consumer Protection. We are now in the process of having all of the work redone properly by someone who has specific tile expertise. We learned our lesson and before hiring anyone for a home renovation, we strongly recommend checking with the Department of Consumer Protection for prior complaints, looking up licenses, and searching public court records (available online) for lawsuits and small claims involving contractors you are considering. This can help avoid a stressful and costly situation like the one we experienced with Five Star Construction.

They were also tasked to create a "box wall" to create more room to push my dryer back so that way the doors can close because I had an issue closing them. This box wall didn't happen because Louis said he didnt have to do that. He should have communicated that to me and reduced the cost that he charged. He felt that by getting rid of the garbage would even out this task which is some thing that should have been written in the contract to begin with. I tasked them with fixing strike plates for a few of my doors in my home and he also fix a partial door frame( which wasn't in the contract but it was done) . He also wrote in the contract that he was going to reinstall gas pipe line (that didn't happen either)The day he supposedly finished the work he wanted to collect his final payment in which he is rightfully so. However I needed to inspect the work being done. He charged me a total of $2025 for my laundry closet and I honestly didn't like the quality work provided. My brother paid him the final balance and he never fixed what he was suppose to fix before final payment. His worker only painted the closet over and cleaned the messed they wanted to leave behind. Before starting Louis told me to send a picture of how I want my laundry closet to look I should have listened but I explained to him to freestyle. My biggest mistake. Please tell me if this closet is worth $2,025. The day of collecting his balance they pulled out my washer and dryer to clean after showing them the mess one of the workers left and unfortunately I tried washing clothes later that night and my brand new washer does not work. I contacted him to find out what happened so I can fix my washer and no answer. I would not recommend this company AT ALL: I believed he took advantage of a single parent female by overcharging me for sloppy work.

After dealing with several contractors who took weeks to confirm a site visit for an estimate and then NEVER getting back with a price, we called Sheeley upon seeing their ad in the Bluestone Press. Kelly got back right away to schedule an appointment with General Manager Steve, who came out and walked us through the process, giving a clear breakdown of pricing and answering any questions that arose along the way. Day of install, the crew was incredible - fast and precise with safety a top priority (ropes/harnesses etc.). Front and back of the house was draped with debris nets, protecting flower beds and siding during demo. Garrett, project manager and liaison between crew and homeowner, was very affable and kept us informed on the progress. By mid-morning the roof was off and ice and water shield was going on. By 5:30 the shingles were on and the yard was swept, even utilizing a wheeled magnet to syphon any rogue nails that may have landed in the grass. The charcoal architectural shingle with black drip edge looked sharp with clean edges, giving our home a more modern look while not breaking the bank. Sheeley offers an incredible decades-long warranty on their roofs, which is even transferable to future owners should you decide to sell. It's amazing to watch a crew firing on all cylinders and complete a project in one day - only wish we had set up a time-lapse! Hands down a great experience and we can't recommend them enough. Look around on your next drive and see all the Sheeley signs at the end of driveways - there's a reason for that!
