    Grilled Cobia

We got a last minute reservation for this restaurant while on our trip to New Orleans and I'm very grateful we did! The location was walking distance from our hotel and when we walked in it felt cozy. The service was incredible and everyone was extremely hospitable. Our server was so nice and walked us thru all the popular dishes and helped us make our decision. And to be honest, all the choices were incredible. The food was beyond delicious I had never had seafood like that before, specifically the baked drum. Other food items we got were the crab salad, tuna crudo, Louisiana area oyster, steak tartare, Brussels sprouts, grilled cobia and the crab claws. But the baked drum would be something I would travel for again because the flavor was something I've never had at any other restaurant before.

LA Brightsides Oysters (8.5/10): Tasted nice and smooth! Definitely worth a try Kinilaw (9/10): This was a Filipino-style ceviche. DELICIOUS! Probably my favorite dish. It was a special though, so I'm not sure how long it will stay on the menu. Tuna Crudo (8/10): Super tasty. Not as mindblowing as the kinilaw, but no complaints. Crab Salad (8/10): This was good as well, but not a must-order. Tasted like a coleslaw kind of flavor profile. Crab Claws (8.5/10): The marinade in this was so good. Crab was nice and tender. Easy to eat, too! Pretty solid food across the board. Plenty of seating when we walked in for lunch on Labor Day.

Thank you to the person who recommended this spot. It was our most favorite meal while in NOLA. The service was fantastic, personable and attentive. The restaurant itself was spacious but had a very cozy ambiance. The food! Everything was so well seasoned and presented. We shared everything family style. The appetizers were tasty. The entrees of fish and steak were delicious. The noodles could have been skipped, they gave the flavor of taco seasoning? The dessert!!! omgoodness. The warm toffee pudding I think it was?? SO FREAKING GOOD. It was the perfect way to end the meal. The crepe cake could be skipped though. Overall what a good well-balanced meal. It honestly made me think of restaurants in the Bay Area. I would definitely come back again!

This spot was recommended by the hotel staff. I think it's a James Beard restaurant. It was within walking distance of my hotel and near several art galleries. It was busy and I didn't make a rez. So I sat at the bar. The staff were friendly. It was upscale and pretty inside. I wasn't super hungry so I ordered the fish and a glass of wine. It was solidly good but overpriced.

Probably the best meal I had all trip to New Orleans. PLEASE get the grilled fish. Our fish of the day was Trout. Absolutely delicious fish. It left the most satisfying taste in my mouth for hours.

The food was really good! Let's start with the highlights. The raw oysters were fantastic. We recommend the brightside if you like briny if not the Alabama were mild and the area 3 were all around good, so no matter what you like they have you covered. They probably rotate them so they may be different when you go. The shrimp toast was good but really the sweet chili dipping sauce was the star of the show for us. The Brabant potatoes were excellent. Nice and crispy on the outside and tender and fluffy on the inside. I could have had these for the meal and been just fine. The grilled tuna and okra was a standout. The best okra I have had I think. Lightly crispy with tomatoes and light sauce that was just fantastic. The were a few bad things though. We shared a bowl of gumbo and it was bland and the shrimp were tiny. It wasn't super expensive but the best gumbo is still my wife's. Lastly, my wife got the hangar steak. It was cooked perfectly and honestly one of the best we have ever had but it was described as having a salsa verde over the top. This is really the biggest faux pas. Salsa verde you think of tomatillo's, jalapeño, cilantro, garlic and lime. What they put on it was more of chimichurri which is parsley, vinegar, oil, garlic etc. We like salsa verde, not so much chimichurri. This definitely had some citrus and mint and maybe a hint of anise in a heavy oil. It was ok, but not all what we were expecting. We mentioned it to the manager and he said the chef was filipino which i am not sure why that would matter. He would know the difference between Mexico and South America which we thought was funny. We have been to the Philippines many times so it was a strange excuse. The kicker is both the waiter and he acknowledged it was more like chimichurri than salsa verde. Oh well. Not the worst thing in the world. If you like chimichurri you should get the steak it was really good. Our waiter was super cool and the restaurant is upscale casual that you see at so many places these days. All in all, it was a good experience and we will come back again. Update: we talked with a friend who is filipino and she said there is a filipino salsa verde that is different from Italian or Mexican versions. We had never had it or heard of it but she said it does have a heavy oil and is citrus forward. I bet this what the manager was talking about. So our mistake. Just thought I would make the correction.

Peche was easily one of the highlights of my trip to New Orleans! The fish collar was absolutely incredible! so meaty, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The oysters were fresh and delicious, exactly what I was hoping for. I also had the chance to try a few of the sides, and they did not disappoint. The corn and Brussels sprouts were both packed with flavor. From the fresh seafood to the amazing sides, everything was on point. I can't wait to come back the next time I'm in New Orleans!

Peche might be one of, if not the one, best restaurant I've ever been to! I visited New Orleans back in early May and I'm literally still thinking about all the yummy food I had at Peche. It was also really cool to be seated at the oyster bar and get to watch all the appetizers being made. The snapper kinilaw with coconut was like a crudo, carpaccio, or ceviche and it was amazinggggg. The mix of the coconut milk, the chili oil, the fish, and the greens was such a good combo - it was so flavorful yet bright and light. I could have had so many plates of this. The crawfish croquettes were also fantastic! Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and you could really taste the crawfish and the spices. Again, so much flavor! The baked drum with leek was probably my least favorite dish of the night, just because I like my fish more soft and smooth, but it was still good! Finally, I was swayed to get the carrot sticky toffee pudding after seeing so many of them being made at the bar. It was like a deconstructed carrot cake, with cream cheese flavor ice cream and a warm, sticky molten carrot cake and graham cracker crumbles. Absolutely divine. I would go back to New Orleans just for Peche!

It wasn't too busy and I was easily able to get a table. Our servers were very friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and gave good suggestions. The timing of the appetizers, main dishes and desserts were on point. I throughly enjoyed the overall dining experience here. Tuna crudo - was alright, had a fishiness and was tangy Oysters - fresh and melted in my mouth. The crackers add a nice crunch and also paired well with the tuna crudo. Cobia - the char on the fish had a burnt taste to it. Other than that, the fish had a crispy and had a nice chew to it. There was a hint of freshness from the zucchini and the salad+orzo. Brussel sprouts - This was good. The vinegar was not overpowering and it was cooked just right where the Brussel sprouts had a sweet taste and still had a slight bite to it. Carrot toffee pudding - great! It is a sweet dessert. The hot and cold factor gave a nice mix. key lime pie - it was sweet and light, but could have a stronger zest Service 10/10 Ambiance 10/10 Food 7/10

Having worked a few Essence Festivals, I'd seen this place a few times but finally got to dine here. Our server were great, personable and had an extensive knowledge of the menu, which is always appreciated because so many things on the menu sounded great and I only have one stomach. There was a minor hiccup with our food, which took a very long time to come out as the server and manager had come out to tell us that our food had been delivered to the wrong table, including the steak that we ordered for the table. Everything else up to that point had been great and we were given two small plates of spicy ground shrimp with noodles as an apology, which was good. I think the food just takes a long time in general because it took a while for us to get our appetizers in general but to be honest, we were chatting and I had a glass of Pinot so I wasn't really clock watching but you can tell (and taste) that the food is made well. I really enjoyed the smoked tuna dip. I don't know why I thought it was going to come out hot but it came out cold and the saltine crackers made it. I loved every bite of it. The fried bread was SO GOOD. It tasted like I was eating pizza dough? Can't explain it but it was delicious. The one meh small plate I had was the fish sticks. The sauce was good but the batter didn't have any flavor to me. Fish was cooked well so no concerns there. The ribeye for the table was amazing and so tender! Definitely a highlight for us. All in all, I would return. For the fried bread and rib eye alone.

My Wife and I went to the World War II museum and were looking for a spot to pop into to grab a lunch while we took a break from the exhibits. We stumbled across Peche which was about two blocks away and could not have been happier that we did. We sat at the bar and received great hospitality from both bartenders working that day. We shared five small plates between the two of us and had a few cocktails and everything was absolutely delicious. The catfish and fried oysters were the standouts. The space is welcoming, open air and very clean. We almost went back to try it again for dinner, but just didn't have enough time during our trip. It will absolutely be a stop next time we are in New Orleans.

I was in New Orleans for a work conference, and Peche came highly recommended. It absolutely lived up to the hype. The restaurant is beautiful, the service was warm and attentive, and every dish showcased just how incredible the seafood is. We started with the tuna crudo, which was incredibly fresh. We also shared the spicy ground shrimp over pasta, and it was unlike anything I've had before. Oddly enough, it reminded me of Cincinnati chili in the best possible way. rRch, comforting, and packed with flavor. For the main dish, we had the baked drum, which was cooked perfectly and served with stewed okra. The fish was outstanding, and the flavors throughout the dish were balanced and delicious. We also shared the grilled zucchini. It was a bit overcooked, which made it soft, but the flavor was still excellent. Overall, this was an exceptional dining experience from start to finish. Beautiful restaurant, outstanding service, and memorable food. I would absolutely come back the next time I'm in New Orleans and highly recommend it.

This place was everything we hoped for and more. We heard about this establishment from a local and he couldn't recommend this place more. It's NOLA and there are obviously a plethora of restaurant options to choose from however, this place was outstanding. The service was good, the food took sometime to arrive. The interiors were classy with character. We got the oysters to start with, I got a Bloody Mary and some chicken skewers. I got the fish they recommended and my husband got the grilled shrimp. We finished it with the carrot toffee cake which kicked it out of the park! The oysters : 10/10, very fresh. The chicken: 10/10, perfectly cooked. The fish: 100/10! Definitely the star! Grilled shrimp: 9/10, slightly fishy. The carrot toffee cake: 1000000/10, I dream of this dessert. Can't wait to revisit.

    Gluten free options?

No none of that concept exists here

    Is this place walker accessible?

    Yes.

Is there outdoor dining? If so, is it possible to reserve that option?

    No outdoor seating

    Do you need reservations?

    Yes!

On the description it says vegan options, but I don't see any listed on the menu. Does anyone know how to order vegan here?

Yes, vegan specials vary daily. If you wanna know what's served for the day I'd call in first.

Is there happy hour? If so, what is on the happy hour menu?

    Call them

Are jeans acceptable attire? Or should one lean towards something a little nice for dinner here?

Not sure what some of these folks are talking about. Jeans are absolutely ok. It's an extremely casual place. Yes, it doesn't hurt to "dress up" but you can say that about nearly every sitdown restaurant. There's absolutely nothing unacceptable…

Is the grilled fish offered daily? Trying to come in for dinner around 7 pm on A sunday

Yes, they always have at least one type of grilled fish daily.

How is parking? Hard to find a spot, say on a Friday around 11:15 am?

There is street parking and a pay lot just about a block from there on Magazine Street. Street parking is just luck- be sure you pay for full time though because they love to give parking tickets in that area.

My boyfriend and I started with the Creole oysters and OMG... probably some of the best oysters I've ever had. They were incredibly flavorful, and dipping the bread into all that sauce afterward was SO good. My mother-in-law had the fried calamari, which came with remoulade, and she really enjoyed it. For my entrée, I had the jambalaya with chicken and andouille sausage. It was definitely spicy, but really, really good. My boyfriend and mother-in-law both had the grilled red snapper topped with their creamy crawfish sauce, and they loved it. My father-in-law had one of the oyster specials with shrimp and crawfish, which was also excellent. We finished with dessert... boyfriend and I had a chocolate mousse/cake dessert and my in-laws had the bread pudding. Everything was delicious. The atmosphere was casual and fun, they had the football games playing on the TVs, and our waitress was fantastic the entire night. Just an overall great experience. A Seafood Spot We Keep Coming Back To!…read more My husband, my daughter, and I have been going to Boil Seafood House for the past few months, and so far, we've really enjoyed every visit. It's definitely become a place we keep coming back to. We usually get the seafood boil with snow crab legs, and this time we went with the medium heat and butter garlic flavor. Everything was really good and full of flavor. My husband and I got the potatoes as our sides, while my daughter got the boiled eggs. We also ordered a side of French fries to share, and let me just say... we ate those so fast that I completely forgot to take a picture! They were good! I also like the whole seafood boil experience here. They offer you a bib and gloves if you want them, which definitely comes in handy when you're getting into those crab legs. The service has been good every time we've visited, and the atmosphere is always lively. One of the coolest things happened after we had finished eating. Someone came around offering little samples for people to try, and they stopped by our table and asked if we wanted to try the soft-shell shrimp. I'm not sure if it's something new on the menu or just something they were serving as a sample, but we said yes -- and I'm so glad we did! That shrimp was delicious! It literally melted in my mouth. I'm usually not a big fan of eating anything with the shell still on, but this was so good that I didn't even mind it. Definitely not what I expected, and it was probably one of my favorite little surprises of the visit. I didn't take a ton of pictures this time, but I'll share the few that I did get. When I was looking for Drago's on the ground flood of the Hilton, I noticed restaurant activity down a path bordered by two hip-level walls. It was Drago's. The sign also said something about a green wall. I looked left and saw the reception desk far in the back. So I kept walking left because the exit from the path was only to the left. I approached the desk to ask if I needed reservation for lunch about a hour later. I was assured that reservations that day would not be needed. When I approached the same sign in the path an hour later, I noticed on the sign a small arrowhead on the end of the horizontal line. She brought me a half-dozen of charbroiled oysters which were hot and excellent with extra slices of French bread because much of the pleasure from charbroiled oysters is from the butter sauce. (This downtown Drago's might serve more French bread than the Drago's in Metairie.) The oysters were small but I could not complain because Argust is not really a month with an "R" in the name. ... The seafood was flavorful, the portions were generous, and once we dumped everything onto the tray, it was officially time to get messy. What I really appreciated was how well everything worked together. The noodles weren't just an unnecessary add-on--they caught all that extra sauce that normally gets left at the bottom of the bag. Do yourself a favor and add them! Come hungry, roll up your sleeves, and don't wear anything you're afraid to get Cajun sauce on. Hot N Cajun delivered exactly what I wanted from a New Orleans seafood boil: hot, messy, saucy, flavorful, and satisfying. The noodles alone made this one memorable. Definitely coming back!
