After my daughters recital she wanted bbq. Now after encountering this company at a brewery with their truck we wanted to try the location. We each had the combo platter with Mac and slaw. The meat was a little dry but we were their past the height of dinner time. The kid had the oz bowl which is their best dish in my opinion. Hope to do this all over again soon. read more

Absolutely amazing. We had them cater dessert for a Dinner event we were attending. The Southern Bourbon Banana Pudding might be one of the greatest dessert items I have ever tasted. I've had the food a couple of times, and I look at these reviews and wonder if we went to the same place. The people are super friendly, and the service is great. But the food is just not good. Everything that we had could be summed up with the same three words: under-seasoned (bland), over-cooked (mushy), greasy. The meats, the beans, the mac and cheese, all of it. While I am not an expert, I know my way around a plate of barbecue, and I've made my own fair share of ribs, pulled pork, brisket, and mac and cheese. OzN'Bones misses the mark. BBQ brisket tasted like a pot roast, I did verify after that they had a smokehouse but no smoke ,no ring, no flavor. Kinda dry. Cornbread kinda dry and heavy. Spiced butter was just OK. Got an order of Mac and cheese with bacon. That bacon must have been good on another day...far in the past. I poured oil out of my container as the sauce broke a few days ago and creamy did not show up to the table. It was a leftover serving microwaved to death. Prices were decent for the generous portions but there must be quality. An effective spicing and application to the brisket is tantamount. Smoking requires wood and slow temps, this meat appeared to be finished in an oven and all connective tissue dissolved. The uber tender, juicy meat had been submitted to a forcible rendering of fat resulting in a pot roast. Not a spoon roast: a dry well done round roast. Cornbread needs a cast iron pan to crisp edges and perhaps a bit more butter. Offer a simple cornbread with an option for plain butter, decent swab of the stuff. I read your story and really wanted to glow you up. But I need fresh, smoke and fire with a flourish of spice. read more

When my fiancée and I come here, the food is always good and the staff are very friendly. Tonight, it seems like they really kicked it up a notch or ten. I didn't think that they could top how awesome their bacon Mac and cheese is, but tonight they did. Usually, the brisket is pretty good. I e had better brisket at other places, but like I said, they kicked it up a lot. Whatever they did for the brisket tonight they need to do, because it rapidly became my favorite brisket to date. I can't say enough good things about this place. It's a little pricey, but the food and the service makes it all worth it. This is a hidden gem! This place is in a little nook off the Colchester green. We went here for my sisters birthday with a large party. They not only accommodated our family, but gave us excellent customer service when it came to my niece & nephew, two very young kids. I was also very happy to see that the food offered options for everyone. I was worried at first that my boyfriend, who cannot eat pork, wouldn't have options, but he had plenty! For a barbecue place, it was impressive that they had even vegetarian dishes like cauliflower bites! The place was gorgeous- it's a big old white building with a ton of charm. We went here for the first time tonight and it was absolutely AMAZING! After living in Texas for years, and going to every bbq place people in the area raves about (only to be disappointed), this exceeded all of my expectations. The food was amazing, the beer was great (These Guys Brewery beer on tap), and the people were absolutely phenomenal. We will be going back to try everything else on their menu. Got to sample OzNBones at Hop Culture Brewing company this past weekend. The good? The pulled pork, and pulled pork nachos were amazing. The bad? The brisket was very chewy and not that tasty. The brisket was a bit tough and not warm. The coleslaw was really good and it complimented the sandwich nicely. I used the maple bourbon BBQ sauce but I didn't get much maple or bourbon flavor. My family just had a function today with about 55 guests at the relatively new Oz N Bones restaurant, and man do they know how to do BBQ! Diane is wonderful to work with, adapting to accommodate our needs. The staff is so friendly we felt right at home. Many BBQs use 4-5 alarm heat to hide lack of flavor. Oz N Bones knows how to give you their great flavor while leaving the lining of your GI tract intact. Took the family in after my son's soccer game this past weekend. Phenomenal service, great beer selection and some of the best BBQ I've had. We had a group of 10 and ordered just about everything. My husband and I we're given a gift certificate to here. We went Saturday for an early dinner. I have to say I was not impressed. You should smell bbq as soon as you get out of the vehicle. I did not. That is not a good sign. You walk in and place your order (this is ok, little for room but not bad). You are given a small remote that vibrates when your order is ready (still not bad, a lot of places do that). You go around the corner to get your choice of sauce and napkins. Go a few more steps and you can order an adult beverage. We got our drinks and went outside to sit at the picnic tables up front. It wasn't long before our remote was buzzing away. My husband went in while I watched our drinks. I got pulled pork, Mac n cheese and slaw. Hubby got the ribs and same sides. The slaw was okay, a little warm. My pork wasn't hot or remotely warm at all. Flavor was there but it was just room temperature. Same with the Mac n cheese. The same also goes for the ribs, except not much flavor. Good thing they have sauce options. We picked at everything on our trays, not enthused at all at this point. I had had enough and went inside to get to-go containers. We reheated our meals tonight and what a difference a little temperature can do! I wouldn't recommend this place unless you are taking out and heating at home. read more

Service is friendly. Nice large picnic table area out front. Ample parking. First red flag: no smoke smell when getting out of the car. No a la carte ordering options on the menu for meats. You have to buy a dinner or combo dinner. I do appreciate that they serve food in biodegradable containers, but literally within 3 minutes of picking up our food,one container had completely dissolved on a bottom corner and a large puddle of liquid was all over the place. (Why is there so much Waterloo liquid in teh meat?). Ok, the food. I've eaten good BBQ all over the southeast. This is not it. The pulled pork and brisket I ordered, while quantity was good, tasted and looked like it came out of a crock pot. the PP was very wet, stringy, and lacked smoke flavor. There were no pieces with bark, just wet stringy meat with a sweet sauce. The brisket also lacked smoke flavor, had no telltale pink smoke ring, no bark, and was chipped up like it had been coarsely chopped. Wet, soggy. The cornbread serving was minuscule. Dill potato salad was good, cole slaw was standard. Chester's in Groton and Uncle D's in Norwich has much better Q. read more

He was very accessible and clear during the planning phases, and on the day of the event, was incredibly friendly and efficient with setup. Most importantly, my family is still raving about the food! Chris and his Misses catered my me and my wife's Rehearsal Dinner Last weekend. Let me just say that we had booked them without tasting the food, and We Could Not Be Happier!! Everything about Oz N Bones was amazing! Chris and his Wife are Super nice, they set everything up for us and even stayed to serve (which we thought was a really nice touch!). Oh yea, and the BBQ.. OUT OF CONTROL! So Good! We had pulled pork (Awesome), brisket (awesome), their Homemade Mac-n-Cheese (amazing), corn cakes, and coleslaw! It was all great! We tried all their homemade sauces and salad dressing and it was just spot on! These two really know how to smoke some meat. I am recommending to everyone I know. Chris even went as far as making a special request for me (BURNT ENDS!) and he nailed it!
