He gave me a quote for demo and installation (I'd say in the middle range of all the quotes I was able to get) and he helped me pick out the flooring. We had carpet in the bedrooms (which I swear had stuff growing in it, it was so disgusting) and we had poor quality/cheap engineered hardwood in the living areas. JP tore out the carpet and old hardwood and replaced it all with a very good quality engineered hardwood. I went with an engineered hardwood made by Mirage Floors, Carousel finish, wide planks, a pretty thick top layer which means it should last a while and can be refinished a few times, and I love it so much. It looks so amazing and professionally done. JP also installed a cork underlayment for soundproofing, and I think it also evens out the floor and makes it softer/more comfortable to walk on. Every step of the way Johnny was helpful, kind and responsive. I have two condos in the South Loop (in the same building) and our building association can be pretty demanding when it comes to remodeling projects. A lot of paperwork, back and forth, and hoops to jump through. Johnny was cool as a cucumber the whole time, answered the association's questions and we met all the requirements before starting the project. Johnny and I agreed on a start date, he told me how long it would take, and he and his crew totally nailed it. They worked so, so hard. They showed up every day at 7am and worked until 5pm. Johnny said our 3-bedroom condo would take 7 days, and he said our 1-bedroom condo would take 3 days, and that's exactly how long it took. I also have to mention Johnny's brother, Danny, who was just fantastic. He was a big part of the process, too, and he made sure everything was done right. Like Johnny, Danny was so level-headed, kind, and incredibly hard-working. Highly recommend!

After a big mess of pieces of wood chunked out and 2 other quotes from sanding companies that said we couldn't bring the original wood back, I gave this company one last shot. The owner (who I think is Cornell) said it wouldn't be a problem and to start to pick a stain. I thought in my head "what? this can't be true, I don't believe this guy". Sure enough, look at the pic, I couldn't even believe what I was seeing! I couldn't wait to post this review, the stain isn't even applied yet but look at this beautiful old floor salvaged! They are expensive but do a good job every time - until they don't. I have 5 small dogs who were placed behind a gate and a closed door right off the kitchen where Cornell was installing a hardwood floor during a renovation. They told me to be home by 3 to remove my babies from the house so that they can apply the toxic, intense smelling stain that they wear full breathing masks to apply. When I got home they had already done it and my little dogs literally fell out of the door to the yard. I could not even breathe in the house. No one was allowed inside. I have never been so upset and called poison control right away but nothing they could do. All of my dogs who were all healthy but now have the same liver problem. One has died. This act was evil, rude, and a horrible treatment of animals with no regard to their safety. They could have called me and let me know they were ahead of schedule. Or they could have waited for the agreed upon time that they set!
