I came here with my friend for dinner and this is such a cute japanese restaurant! I love that their menu has a huge variety so whether you're craving ramen, katsu curry, sushi or other japanese items- there is something for everyone! I highly recommend their sushi-dons, the fish is so fresh and the portions are very generous. But avoid the mentai pasta at all costs, it was unfortunately soooo nasty. It just tasted like noodles drenched in mayo. My friend and I couldn't even finish nor wanted to take it home. We also complained to the waitress because I know how annoying it is as a restaurant owner to see reviews like this and be like well why didn'y you tell us? So yes, we did mention this. That was honestly one of the worst dishes I ate in awhile, nothing could save that dish, it didn't taste like mentai at all and at least use udon noodles. So so so nasty. Which is such a shame because everything else was delish, if it wasn't for the pasta, I would've given 5 stars

Wow, this place is amazing! We had a table reservation for six people outdoors, which was perfect for a Saturday lunch. We saw the amazing varieties of dons, rolls, hamachis, and sake so had to get a little bit to share for the entire table. Each dish was presented beautifully, and the quality of the fish, roe, and rice is top tier.

Ozakaya has been high on my list since I heard about it a few months ago, so my friend and I went for dinner this past Friday. Reservations become available 14 days in advance on Resy, so I'd highly recommend booking early to secure a table during normal eating hours. Sadly, since it was just the two of us, we couldn't sample as much of the menu as we wanted. Our server recommended a hot appetizer and a fancier option from their Summer Special menu: KARAAGE - 14 Each order came with five thick pieces of chicken karaage. The chicken arrived hot and juicy, seasoned well enough to be enjoyed on its own or dipped in the side of shichimi mayo. This was a great appetizer to share, and I'd recommend it if you're looking for a reliable classic. TEMAKI SET - 95 Served in roughly an 8"x8" wooden box, this set was lavishly topped toro, Hokkaido uni, ikura, and possibly Iberian ham, with crispt nori sheets on the side to make DIY handrolls. After scooping a bit of everything into a little wrap, I was greeted with the most intense, fresh sea flavors. The toro and Iberian ham were fatty and buttery, blending seamlessly with the velvety smooth uni and the fresh, bursting pops of ikura. I had to pause after every bite just to deeply savor it, and I lost count of how many times I said, "Wow, this is so good." Since I don't live in NYC, I generally avoid repeating restaurants even if I enjoyed them. However, Ozakaya is an exception to this rule -- it's easily one of the best meals I've eaten during all my recent visits. I don't know where they source their seafood, but it's incredibly fresh and packed with umami. Even days after, I'm still thinking about the velvety sweetness of that uni, and I can't wait for my next visit.

Very busy Japanese restaurant and highly recommend making reservations way in advance. Fish here is served very fresh. My friends and I ordered the ozakaya donburi set, chicken karaage curry, kaki fried and a5 fried rice. The fish was buttery delicious. Loved how they serve a hot broth at the very end of your donburi set. Save some rice at the end for a nice experience to end your meal. The a5 was fatty and the karaage was fried perfectly. The restaurant was very busy when we went on a Saturday afternoon. The back dining area was crowded and very full. Our food came out quickly and i will definitely be back try some of their uni dishes. Highly recommend their donburi sets.

The ozakaya donburi set for $49 was amazing! It's a great meal to share between 2 and I really enjoyed the broth they pour into our leftover rice at the end. Mentaiko pasta was good and the crispy bacon pieces were pleasant. Will definitely come back, make sure you set a reservation even if it's a weekday.

We came here as a big group during lunch time and I have to say, while we were a big group ourselves and the dining area was full inside and back, the service felt sufficient and great. Most of the group ordered the Ozakaya Donburi bowl which was a bowl of rice with a very filling amount of raw fish and toppings. I cant relate as I dont eat raw but everyone raved about this. I ordered the unagi bowl, which is safe, delicious and super filling. All the appetizers were super delicious and everything honestly felt like came out in a reasonable amount of time. Will be back for more!

Kaishin don ($45, Sept 2026)

Kaishin don is amazing. If there's one thing to get, get that dish. So flavorful. The fatty tuna, ikura, and uni all together is chef's kiss! Salmon collar was cooked perfectly. So buttery and flaky and moist. Mentai pasta had good flavor but a bit too creamy for my taste. I'm just not a huge fan of super creamy pasta. I can only eat a little portion of it. Ozakaya roll was my least favorite. Before ordering, I knew there was a lot of ingredients in the roll so I kinda knew it was gonna be a mishmash of flavors, but I still ordered anyways. I really wanted something with eel. The only thing I didn't like about the roll was I think they put too much eel sauce on top of the spicy mayo sauce.

Osaka donburi set

Originally made a reservation, however, something came up and I had to cancel. Then I went in person and put my party into waitlist and we got a table outside. We didn't have to wait for a long maybe like about 20 minutes. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. My friends and I came here for the set!! Ordered the Yuzu lemonade, mentai pasta, plum wine and Osaka donburi set. There are iffy about eating a raw egg, but I had no stomach issues after eating, which is good. Because I have stomach issues eating the raw egg in another country . The food is fresh. After you're halfway eating the rice from the set, they pour you the miso broth for you to eat the remaining rice. The miso broth is warm and cooked raw fish. There is outdoor seating, which is by the curb and inside seating.

Went to Ozakaya for lunch on a busy Sunday afternoon and had a wonderful experience. We started with a House Green Salad, a Vanderbilt Roll and a A5 Wagyu Nigiri - all solid. What stood out the most were our entrees, Ozakaya Donburi Set and Kaishin Don, both excellent. Overall, terrific creative dishes and friendly service!

I've been wanting to try this place for so long and was able to snatch a reservation at 4 pm on a Saturday on the day of. We tried a variety of dishes but we wish we could try even more. The fish tasted fresh and the staff was super attentive. Would love to come back to try more.

Sarina Z.

We were really excited to try Ozakaya after hearing so many good things, but unfortunately left a little disappointed. We ordered the chirashi bowl and kaishin don, and the fish was incredibly fresh and delicious. The service was also super quick, and our food came out almost immediately. That said, the portions felt quite small for the price, which was a bit of a letdown. Great quality fish, but the value wasn't quite there for us.

Spicy Tuna Roll (7/10)
Meryam A.

The sun was out, cherry blossoms were in full bloom, so we stopped by here after walking around the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, honestly perfect timing and vibes. This place is super popular and I get why. It was packed but the service was insanely quick and efficient, which I appreciated. We shared the chirashi (9/10) and a spicy tuna roll (7/10) and it was honestly more than enough food for both of us. The sashimi is chef's choice so you're getting whatever's freshest that day. Overall, the quality was excellent. A couple of pieces were a little on the flavorless side, but nothing that ruined the experience. I'd still give it a solid 9/10 and would definitely come back if I'm in the area again.

Daisy S.

The food was amazing, and the service was okay. It was quite crowded when we were there, so I'd suggest making a reservation.

Good service and clean interior. Appetizers and sushi bowl were great but the sushi was not as fresh in comparison.

But at last, as I searched on DoorDash I stumbled upon this glorious restaurant they call Izakaya Fuku. I was drawn to the adorable names for their sushi roll dishes like "Strawberry Fields" and their Italian Japanese fusion pasta dishes, "Creamy Mentaiko Bacon Pasta" with creamy mayonnaise, spicy cod roe and bacon like are you kidding me? It's a bummer I wasn't more hunger or that I didn't have more bucks in my wallet because I wanted all these dishes. And the Chirashi Don, god it looks so beautiful the way that it's arranged in the photos online. I finally decided on the carbonara. And I was drawn to the fact that it was udon based. Now, I've just been living in hawaii these past years so that Japanese twist on an Italian dish that I just love oh so much really brought me back to missing the islands and the Asian spins they had on cuisines. Now my food may have not come in a jiffy but for after midnight cravings I'd say it was well worth the wait. And my oh my the portion was huge!!!! I slurped that big boy up. It was SOOO delicious and savory. I love comfort food and this had me in carbonara heaven. I loved indulging into every single last bite. By the looks of the picture the restaurant looks lovely, I'd love to stop there and try it in person. Thank you. Thank you! My belly and my heart are very much satisfied.

The price for the bowl is also amazing, I ordered the Ajimi UWO and it was $13.50. It was so flavorful and the cha siu is so tender. The ajimi fries are also pretty good. I liked the purple yam fries since i've never had that before and the chew and texture and flavor was different from the usual fry. The ambiance is also very good it can fit parties more than 10 and they have a free pool table you can play with! There's great lighting and the bathroom is super clean and pretty as well!

The amount of noodles is decent and the toppings are pretty good the egg actually come with both half's rather than one like some places so that's good, my only gripe is that the cha siu isn't heated through after being served which tells me that they didn't torch it for long enough before serving. That usually also makes it less tender as the middle is still a little coagulated from being chilled prior. I would also assume that chicken broth is less calorie dense than pork so I also felt less guilty drinking it all. The staff is friendly and quick enough with the service and they also have rotation test menu items which is nice but there's a few items on their regular menu they are always out of like their oyster pancake

We searched Yelp and came across Konoba Yakitori, and it absolutely hit the spot. My daughter and I loved our entire experience--everything from the food to the local neighborhood vibe to the incredibly friendly, attentive staff. Everything we ordered was fresh, cooked to perfection, and reasonably priced. We had the gyoza, edamame, Hamachi Lover, Ebi Shu Mai, and the $15 Beef Set (three beef skewers), accompanied by hot tea and Ramune. The beef skewers were a highlight--tender meat with seasoning that was spot-on. Warm, welcoming, prompt, and super efficient. The entire staff was friendly and accommodating, and our waiter was extremely helpful in guiding us through the menu. Top-tier service all around. The space is small and cozy with a simple, comfortable design. Seating is a bit tight and close to neighboring tables, but there's nothing wrong with being snug, rght? It gets busy, but customers tend to eat quickly, so even without reservations, the wait moves well. Most importantly, despite it being a intimate spot, we never felt rushed at all. It's simple, which is what makes it amazing. An incredible restaurant all around--I love this place and can't wait to return. Highly recommend!

It's been open for a few years, so clearly it has a good enough formula to keep the neighborhood happy. I have been here once before, but returned last week after dining several meals at Tomoni in Jackson Heights. Apparently, the owners are friends. Nonetheless, I needed to make the comparison. After my first few bites of their Tora Don and Chirashi Don, it was clear that this restaurant has the better quality seafood. Each slice of sashimi had vibrant colors, clean taste, and the proper texture. Tomoni is not bad, but fall slightly short of this caliber. With that said, there is an even farther gap between their rice quality. Though Tora is very good, Tomoni produces nearly perfect texture and acidity for my taste buds. Other than the best omakase restaurants in NYC, Tomoni shines as one of the best versions of sushi rice in the five boroughs. Service is good and space is cute. If I have a craving for some decent Japanese food, I would drive 20 minutes here for a meal anytime.
